Non float flyer here just chiming in on my experience with this sim playing it daily on free flight and taking photos at all the national parks in USA in bell 407 , I’m seriously impressed with the tech and the graphics. Yes there’s some draw in of vegetation but the mountains , canyons , rivers , thousands of tree types , windshield effects , etc etc are top notch . Best 60 bucks I’ve spent since msfs 1 in ‘83 lol
Anyone that knows me will know that im a floatplane fan. Lost track how many float planes flights ive flown in 2020 even with no physics of any kind. So I been loving the new water physics in 24. Landing in choppy waters is rather challenging. You are right about pontoon planes compared to flying boats. Flying boats can handle far more chop. I haven't tried the big Latecorere 631 yet in 24 but will soon. Sadly my Dornier Do J and Do X hasn't ported over to 24 yet. So yeah, i really like what they done so far with the water and waves effecting the planes. Oh and btw, when you zoomed out @21:24 it looked like a real overhead aerial view from a drone.
Thanks for showcasing floatplanes. I hope in career mode they add a more missions variety for floatplanes. I started my career in Alaska. Began in Anchorage and making my way to Fairbanks and eventually all over.
From Cockpit Warning to "Shut up" is a mere 300ms gap... that is quite a fast response :D On another subject, Wild Life are also to be taken into account when observing the landing area. Don't hit the ocasional Beaver or Hipo ;) Always a pleasure to watch your videos Rach, cheers!
7:28 huh, AvAngel can walk on water, she is a literal goddess! I knew it! Your laugh after that is epic 😂
I'm still 50/50 on MSFS2024, I think I'll hold out for a bit longer.
"I am a deity" BWAHAHAHA funniest flightsim video I've seen in ages, I'm still laughing :)
Great cross-wind landing with the Albatross. The baby Jesus sometimes shows up to help with my landings too!
Amen!
Walking on water! ....😮
Always knew your special Avangel!!
( great fun again thanks)
Thanks Angel! 2 things, awesome landing in the Albatross on land, reminded me of my glider days in big breeze but you have to hit the runway. My Dad flew the Navy P5 Marlin, a huge seaplane. I remember he was in a non flight assignment and to maintain proficiency flew with the US Coast Guard occasionally and they had the Albatross (UF). He said it was like flying an Italian sports car. He loved it
I had no idea you could add waves with a wind layer until this video, it is beyond fun.
I like it so far.
Lookin king fwd to them perfecting the surface physics, longer wake and spray effects. Especially spray washing across the windscreens.
After I saw the albatross and the cessna 408, there was no question about the premium deluxe package for me!
Gorgeous water effects!😅 I do hope that bit of stuttering on take off from the Airport gets better because on a high end pc like yours that should be smoother 😮If you like this region and Belka Coola, try flying in the Rockies on the Alberta/BC border. ❤
Running 🏃♀️ on the water. Hahahaha Hahahaha 😆 I love it!
AvAngel that walk on water! Miracle! 😂😂😂😂😂
OK, let's check if she can turn it into wine 😁
That last landing was WOW! 😳Well done IMO
Bonkers is my specialty
Don't know why, but watching all that water splashing somehow Bobby Darin comes to my mind: "Splish-splash, I was taking a bath
Long about a Saturday night, yeah .....singdidelsumblablawistlepfpfpf ...." ;-)
@AvAngel That was one hell of a landing! Bravo. I doubt I could have saved that one. Thanks you for another fun showscase of the Albatross. Glad you're enjoying it! I agree with all your comments on the water by the way, hopefully it will improve over time. The plane still needs a couple of tweaks in that area as well, but water interaction is still very much undocumented witchcraft in the sim. When it works it works really well, and when it doesn't... well... Also, there are global problems with water physics in TIN areas currently. It's not behaving correctly. Asobo's aware of them. The area you're flying in is fine though.
Speaking of tweaks... You're missing out on some neat windshield effects I spent many many hours implementing, and which will make those landings into the sun just a little more realistic, and possibly scary. Can you please try running with "Raymarched Reflections" set to Ultra and "Windshield Effects" set to high? There is a bug in the UI where setting them to high or ultra doesn't stick. To fix that, set "Global Rendering" to Ultra and then reduce the other things you want to, but leave those other two at their max. I think you'll find it worth checking out. :) Thanks again!
I will when I can, but right now between the servers and my own settings im still struggling to get solid performancce but I will raise those when I can!
As for the water... yeah, this is the weird bit.. I've seen far more realitic performance on water from flying boats than float planes. I suspect it's to do with relative position from float points to the reference datum location... or simply LONGER floating contact area vs the short 'visible' floats... that perhaps setting contact points 'invisibly' further out on float planes may stabalize them more from the skipping.
Watching you bounce around in the waves while taking off, I had only one thought: "I have to try that in VR in my motion seat!". 😍
Saw one dude in a discord had his motion seat launch him into the drywall while trying out 2024 😅
Oof gag
Float flying needs work but it sure is a big improvement visually over 2020 for sure
I found out today, you can start Cold & Dark literally ANYWHERE you want. Absolute game-changer for me!
Haven't tried to see if it works with Floaties.
I plan on getting PDE soon and love that we get both glass and analog for the Albatross.
It does work with floaties too!
Yes! Quite odd how no-one's talking about it, honestly. It's a small thing, but literally one of the best changes. Makes sooo many things more feasible, including cold & dark startups from little airfields that don't have parking spaces in the sim. And yes indeed, floaties can cold and dark anywhere, too. No more spawning at the nearest airfield and using slew mode. :p
A real angel walking on water!
I'm 75% finished with my cross-county from Long Beach, CA to London, UK and back... in the Hughes H4. Boy am I tired. Float planes are fun!
I just installed the FBW A380 for msfs! can't wait to fly it!
You can click shift+c to enter the plane no matter how far away
Not very, but it is fun. I flew bush planes with a float endorsement. I love re-creating some of my bush flights in Ontario. Can't really blame them though, getting the physics right for this would be hard to do...
you can check wheels up, looking through the little round window, in the cockpit floor
I do like how you are a person rather than a plane in FS2024... But I am still holding off for a bit until they iron out some of the bigger issues. Looks nice though.
How do you walk around in 3rd person? My avitar is always in 1st person.
7:25 oh snap AvAngel is now bigger than Jesus
Yust one question. How is in term of performance compared with MSFS2020?
If you are using the Bravo throttle setup - do you, or can you, use the trim wheel? It works on some planes for me but not on many.
Yep it works for me, seemed better than 20 too!
Just a suggestion. 1)- increase you rolling cache to 32Gb 2)- before recording clear your cache and then fly your route without recording 2)- fly the route recording. This in theory at least should put as much of your flight as possible into cache and therefore be a) quicker to retrieve b) leave more internet bandwidth open to download those things it has to. Hopefully this will improve your experience. Other than that a video up to your usual impeccable standards thanks AV
It is on 32, but it's not helping much till I get my new ram.
You gotta love those hot sauce on crab, landings.
When it starts to stutter like that real bad toggle windowed mode and full screen . I found when going windowed the stutters stopped
Only did it once in takeoff kinda hard to tab in and out lol
The last landing is absolutely insane.😳
I'm a specialist at insane.
Wait that island looks so pretty to fly out of and into. Can you share the airport code for that I definitely want to fly there.
CBBC Campbell Island and CYJQ Denny Island :D
Where was the departure airport for first flight in the 172?
Denny island
@@AvAngel thanks so much for this. I miss the loading screen in 2020 when you can see the aircraft and the airport. I like to fly at some of the locations you fly, and I was so nice just to be able to see which airport you were at on the loading screen.
If they have gotten rid of the water walls that are in 2020, I will be happy. I was puttering around San Francisco Bay in the Goose and decided to go under the Golden Gate Bridge because who wouldn't? *BOOM* "You have crashed into the water." Hit one in southeastern Lake Superior in the Icon and encountered another in Lake Pend Orielle in Idaho. It would be a shame if they offered so many float planes and still had water walls everywhere.
So far it seems so... but that's not really a 100% answer YET. But it seems better in that particular regard.
Thanks for the video.
If you open the door in flight, the flight stops, on the ground I don't now that can be possible.
Regards
There is a bug....a water bug...a skimmer.
Still missing water on the windows. :(
Yeah, and you *do* get that in the rain, so I know the sim is capable of that.
Godess please showcase the Beaver !
Mmm perhaps but it still hath bugs
So waves do affect your plane now?
Yes quite a bit
@@AvAngel That's nice. Last fs they didn't and it was a bummer.
Horrid, the water is still like 3m deep. Planes hit invisible barriers sigh
:D
"Thank you, Karen" 😂
Cardboard plane lands on blue matrese. Msfs2024...
👍🏻😳👍🏻😆
@AvAngel i love your channel but can you talk a little bit slower? I have tinitus and am 61 years old and i have to keep rewinding back to get an idea of what you are saying as you speak so fast!
I will try! I get excited 😛
@@AvAngel Thanks for getting back! 💗
try subtitles
Truly a goddess!
fun yes
Shift + C will put you back in the plane, no matter how far away you are. =)
Not as funny as chasing my plane.
How do you switch to 3rd person? I know of the setting to allow 3rd person in "Advanced options" but how do you actually switch to it?
Also, you missed a HUGE legacy from MSFS2020 - when you are in the water with gear up and you put the gear down the plane climbs with the gear on the water like a Jesus plane... like you did with the character. It still bounces on the waves but obviously not realistically as it floats now on wheels and not on floats.
I find it funny in a way that a person deciding to do a review to the feature can miss such a glazing problem and I think this is also how the entire MS/Asobo team missed it altogether... Like many features...
Watching the bugs of 2024 is depressing...
Its a setting in the menu under other options for 3rd person camera allowed.
@@AvAngel I know that... doesn't do anything for me. Do you need to toggle it on off somehow?
Yep just go 3rd person like usual with your usual keybind once its on. For me that's End.
@@AvAngel Ah, so there is such a key bind. Thank you. I wonder if it turns on and off the avatar in VR also... cause ! can see the 1st person body only in 2D.
@@AvAngel OK... it doesn't work :D That's the normal Cockpit/External camera switch. I have only 1st person view. The only little moment I see the 3rd person character is when Hitting escape.... the camera floats away from the character and reveals it for a second. Weird. No mods. Default key binds.
Hello from another lady sim pilot love the video. Would live to fly with more chicas
Hey there! We are few indeed!
@@AvAngel yep we are the unicorns of flight simulation AvieSkyMiles is my game tag if you fancy a flight.
Sorry, but cant see how it can be 'realistic' if haven't experienced the real thing? It cant be I have time on Beavers, Otters, Norsemen etc etc. No day is the same, and somehow think these sims are just pointing shapes around the sky. I may be a little harsh, I apologise, but its not realistic is it?
I can academically compare it... I did say I don't ahve real world float experience, but I do have real world BOATING experience, so I do understand water to a fair degree and I understand the techniques for float flying. Is it? No it's not realistic sadly.
bye bye
Dont put your avionics on before you start your engine.
Not always a thing…

Jesus Christ hahaha
Floatplane pilot IRL and it's horrid
It's... borderline better than 20, which... isn't much.
@AvAngel It's very slightly better, which frustrates me more. They clearly know it's bad. For now if I want to do anything floats related I use X-Plane, but with the scenery and all the attention bush flying has received in 2024 it's so heartbreaking that water is still badly represented
@@nolanono2532 x plane 12 is pretty crap to isn't it? They act nothing like boats or real water dynamics
@@russellburnup1939 XP12 float physics are the best I've ever seen in a sim. They're quite accurate to the 172s 180s and 185s I've flown irl on floats. Visually the sim is lacking but the float physics are genuinely quite good
It doesn't feel realistic at all, and honestly not much different than 2020, especially in calm waters. Seems like an afterthought.
It is way different then 2020, huge step up in 24. In 2020 water didn't even have physics at all. I tried landing in choppy waters off the coast of Sable island. I tried over 15 times and could not land. I have over 2500 hours in flight sim and at least half or more of that is with seaplanes and flying boats. It's what I do
It is extremely had to simulate the feel of a sea plane without a moving platform.
Helicopter is better in VR.
Haters gona hate.
