    Your AC sounds really efficient. I've not heard of that type before. If it uses the same pump as the salt water engine pump, that will be super efficient and give you a clue when that impeller goes bad. That way your engine won't get hot. I seldom hear of the water temp going over 80 degrees.

  • @russellsmith8609

    While I was was watching the part about activating the sump pump I noticed that as the rod was rising it was coming into conflict with what looked like one of your ground wires routed just above it.
    I agree, that while it looks like a minor thing, Murphy's Law predicts that it will prevent your pump from turning on in a dire situation.

      Yes this is why mercury float switches are the norm, mechanical float switches are super failure prone!😊

      @@jackdbur I agree. Mercury switches are much better, but what he has I think is better still because it's far less likely to jam up with rubbish in the bilges.

    Hi following you a bit with your lovely children. I am shocked how the anchor-late is mounted. You even want a bowsprit mounted on it. The construction you made will never hold!! It's far to weak with your current 2 screws, even with 6 it will not hold under stress. It's very dangerous what you're doing... a much longer construction with a mandatory backing plate and marine graded bolts are really necessary.

    The Babies look healthy happy and are absolutely beautiful!
    Best stay in the flat for now , wait for everything to fall into place and tested moving aboard will have plenty of challenges no need to have ones that can be avoided!

    • @SailingMerewether

      We’ll be having a fibreglasser coming to fibreglass around the bow sprit holder. Theres also a second part that looks like a cylinder that will be screwed into the bow. We will show you when we install but for the moment that will be a later job

    That assembly interface to the hull is insufficient for the loads imparted from a bowsprit.

    • @jackdbur
      @jackdbur Місяць тому +5

      There needs to be reinforcement straps from the plate down to the hull or it will just rip that piece of deck up & out ! The bolt holes need to be oversized & the core filled. Preferentially there would be a strap attached to it & bolted into the bow.

    Get an extension for the Drill bit to do your last hole on the Anchor roller.

  • @Steve-Debs
    @Steve-Debs Місяць тому +1

    By extending the string on the float switch all it will change is the amount of water that is in the boat before it turns on. Also I always thought Amels were brilliant in the fact they have very few through hulls, also water tight bulk heads, but I suppose some people like drilling holes in boats and putting more in so there are more to fail.

    • @SailingMerewether
      @SailingMerewether  Місяць тому +1

      I agree, fewer thru holes the better just wish there was a way to expel all the water without a sump and pump in the boat

    Block the water that would go to the engine with a plug, and run the rest of the system as normal. Aircon, Engine, Genset, Toilets, Anchor Wash, Water Maker, all are fed through the Sea Water Manifold. You just need to block of the hoses that are not being used, and use the sea water as required. Easy enough.... Cheers, Sailing Aquarius

      @SailingMerewether It's taking Baby Bicycle Seats and rigging them on an articulating Post in the cockpit. The twins will be upright and part of mom & dad sailing; but allowing the both of you freedom from holding twins while sailing ⛵️. It worked well for Vera as a baby.

    Just watched your explanation that you cannot run a because salt water inlet manifold won't work without engine cooling connected. I would have thought manifold connections need to be each fitted with a ball valve. Otherwise you may run risk in future of not being able to cool engine if you have a leak in the ac or maybe head flush plumbing?

  • @CAPTJohn47
    @CAPTJohn47 Місяць тому +1

    As much as I like Amels, I've always thought they were overengineered and needlessly complex. As in goofy grey water sump, extending bow thruster, common seacocks, etc.

  • @thomasbrasse3145

    Will those 6 screws be sufficient to handle a big assymetrical? The force from a sail like that are significant. Also- transmission status?

    • @jackdbur
      @jackdbur Місяць тому +2

      If they try long passage making with a kite that will get ripped straight out of the deck! It will need a dolphin striker & serious fibreglass work under it to transfer the load from the deck to the hull ! 😮

    • @SailingMerewether
      @SailingMerewether  Місяць тому +1

      We’ve had a lot of these comments. The bow sprit needs to be strong for sure. At the moment we dont have any head sails to use on it. So it will be a future job to reinforce that bow sprit
