  • I returned to China for a few weeks, and on March 11, 2024, I captured the relatively rare Fieldfare (scientific name: Turdus pilaris) in Beijing. It should be considered as stragglers birds, and with the guidance of experienced bird watchers/photographers, I successfully added this new lifer! I came to the same location yesterday but unfortunately couldn't find these two Fieldfares. Surprisingly, the ecological environment in the western suburbs of Beijing has been improving over the past few years. The park I visited recently has been acclaimed as a 'Thrush Sanctuary,' indicating that the midget crab apple (malus × kaido) forest here has attracted many thrush species of birds.
