Reusing halves of split cards is so cool! The playtest cards in this set really was a brilliant idea to make a fun convention draft format, well, fun but also chaotic and memorable.
cool boosters, but the most money cards are removed and the foils too… so its too expensive to buy, except your playgroup says playtest cards are okay in edh
And, of course, you could just take one half of a split card and print it. Like: "Boom" -1R - Sorcery - Destroy target land you control and target land you don't control.
Suggestion: can you start including "filmed on" dates on these? Sometimes it's curious to see what past Graham thinks about things that have already happened, such as the release of convention boosters to stores
I appreciate the cards generally staying on screen longer in this one-it made it much easier to follow along! Also, I LOVE the idea of mixing and matching split card parts. That's a really cool idea!
5:20. MATT. XD. The Intl. Phonetic Alphabet committee is gonna getcha one of these days XD;;. And continued thanks for the lapel mics, audio is *chefkiss.
They must have filmed this... I'm not sure when, either. Because most of the Mystery Booster cards have crashed in price, Start // Fire is barely $5 now.
I love the idea of reusing old halves of split cards to make new split cards. Commander/Singleton question for that though, in this instance using Start//Finish, Start//Fire & Fire//Ice in the same deck. Would that count as 2 instances each for Fire and Start, and not be allowed or do the split cards count their whole card for the purpose of deckbuilding?
Someone forgot to hit the shift key when writing the prices for cards. Casual 4 in the middle of the pricing haha. Great content though always happy to watch these videos.
So something to know the play test cards from that version are worth more than the ones that were released at retail in August. The original play test cards do not have the planeswalker symbol & the new ones do.
That is actually incorrect. The old ones had the planeswalker fork in the bottom left. The reprints from this summer don't. So with fork in this case costs more than without fork!
Hey, I finally got to meet LRR folks at Pax South 2020. I distinctly remember doing the Theros PR that weekend and buying a Jund Em Out Shirt from Beej.
They're on sale in the UK at the time this video has gone out - I bought one when Midnight Hunt launched and my 'older' card ended up being Purphoros, God of the Forge.
I've been able to do some Mystery Booster drafts at my LGS, both convention and non-convention editions. It's ridiculously fun. And I got to explain how cool Start//Fire was to the person who drafted it at one!
Gunk Slug was a really cool card design btw. Possibly too frustrating for actual regular play? But as a design space, very creative! Very fun seeing it for silly, fun, one-off drafts :)
I was lucky to open one convention edition Mystery Booster. A guy at my LGS gave it to me for free, I pulled Elesh Norn which went straight into my Ghired Deck.
@@InsertCleverNameHere0 I wouldn't doubt that Gravecrawler's price has gone up, but a quick search for both cards puts their prices eerily close to those ascribed to each other.
It’s actually a little closer to mɛnät͡ʃe , or mɛnät͡ɕe if you have the che sound a little more palatalized, like a Japanese ち. Graham pronounces it a little closer to the latter, so you could also represent it as a little bit retracted by putting a lil minus sign under it.
Man, this looks like fun, but the booster boxes are so expensive... but the playtest cards are so "valuable"... but I'd want to keep all the cards to use as a pseudo-cube... but I don't have enough friends to play draft...
Long time patreon supporter here. The picture is has a slightly out of focus feeling even on 1080p. I've noticed the same issue in previous Crack-A-Packs too.
So they didn't print start // fire... So... We didn't start the fire It was always burning, since the world was turning. We didn't start the fire No, we didn't light it, but we tried to print it

I'm also a big fan of Bind // Liberate, which takes two pre-existing spells and turns them into a split card
And, of course, you could just take one half of a split card and print it. Like: "Boom" -1R - Sorcery - Destroy target land you control and target land you don't control.
"And without the lights this would be a very dark video." Thank you, Graham. Thank you.
Combining two halves of different split cards is *amazing* and I love it.
Matt getting salty with the editing *chefkiss*
also Graham's delight at "Start // Fire" is wonderful
The word you're looking for is "sassy", not salty.

"this was given to us by Greg at Pax South 2020"
pauses
"was that me?"
"no, wait, that's not the year I went"
Did you give them a pack of Mystery Booster: convention edition at some other Pax?
Bloodrite Invoker 4, the thrilling but for budget reasons direct-to-dvd continuation of Bloodrite Invoker 3: Reloaded.
I did like the Halloween/Christmas special Bloodrite: in Vacation

Anyone else not here for the cards but Graham's commentary and the editor's hilarious notes? :D

Convention Edition Mystery Boosters: Available now!
PAX South: Not so much.
mmhmn T^T. RIP PAX South.
Something about the music they use for these just amplifies what a strange, winding, rambling, zany journey we're about to go on with Graham today.
When reading the name of Insolent Neonate you sounded like a Cyberman, and I am all here for it.
Gravecrawler 7 Dollar? That must have been before they revealed the Commander deck
Definitely its nearly $20 now for that version
They must have filmed this... I'm not sure when, either. Because most of the Mystery Booster cards have crashed in price, Start // Fire is barely $5 now.
Gonna make an algorithm that combines different split cards.
Matt's editing game is 11/10 here,
2:49 Yes, it's from SOM
I love the idea of reusing old halves of split cards to make new split cards.

split cards count the whole cards for deck building
Bloodrite Invoker 4 0.15
Great show. I was always hesitant to get mystery boosters. But I think I’ll try a couple now. Thanks man.
I have never been called a Gunk Slug so affectionately before XD
Mystery Boosters are such a joy to crack open
Someone forgot to hit the shift key when writing the prices for cards. Casual 4 in the middle of the pricing haha. Great content though always happy to watch these videos.
Damn I love Graham so much. He has such an amazing silly goofy but also smart and soft personality😆!

That Treasure Mage is from Duel Decks: Elves Vs. Inventors
Playtest cards remain hilarious.
Graham seems to have picked up a Muppets vibe.
The fact that gravecrawler is $20 now blows my mind.
I run him in my Grim-grin EDH. Rooftop Storm means I can make GG as big as I want.
Thank you, Greg.
Would start // fire take the singleton slot away from start // finish in commander?
Editing on point!

Cool, thanks for the info.
Great video!
Yeah, Gravecrawler is now 21$. Tripled the value.
Some very exciting engagement!
We had convention edition in retail here in Greece months ago. They were part of the free boxes wizards sent to lgc to help them through the pandemic
what good timing, i was just thinking about getting one of these to see whats inside
I played one draft of Mystery Booster and apparently Yuriko and Draco are both in the format, and I found that out the hard way
You are welcome Graham.
I've been able to do some Mystery Booster drafts at my LGS, both convention and non-convention editions. It's ridiculously fun. And I got to explain how cool Start//Fire was to the person who drafted it at one!

Duel Decks the pack!

"Not for resale" is not a binding contract.
Actually my LGS had many mystery booster drafts here where I live we are allowed to do Mtg events
I even have a sliv mizzet
I think it would be cool if the next Unset set is just filled with playtest cards
I was lucky to open one convention edition Mystery Booster. A guy at my LGS gave it to me for free, I pulled Elesh Norn which went straight into my Ghired Deck.
This was made before gravecrawler price spike and level at $20
MYSTERY BOOSTIES!
You could make a 3 sided card, The front has Wax and Fire on it and the back is something called "candle"
i'm here for the revival of menace on this channel it seems like it's been weeks.
I think Gravecrawler and Start//Fire had their prices switched. Also someone forgot to hit Shift when writing Bloodrite Invoker's price.
I think a lot of these videos are shot way in advance, I think Gravecrawler used to be that cheap before Midnight Hunt came out.
@@InsertCleverNameHere0 I wouldn't doubt that Gravecrawler's price has gone up, but a quick search for both cards puts their prices eerily close to those ascribed to each other.
First pick Abzan Falconer 'cause Marduuuuu don't question it!

Engagement for the engagement god!
Thanks for this video.
Two cards for my ability cost reduction brew.
My store just did a draft of this and it was amazing. I went 2-1 with aetherflux rezevoir and keep and izzet mage busy
Grave crawler sitting at a cool 21.00$ now
I would probably grab gravecrawler and try to force zombies, but I have no idea how many zombies are in the set.

are these filmed the day of because i think grave crawler is like 20 ish atm
I am disappointed you didn't point out that that version of mortify has the "So cringe its actually amazing." flavor text about Sorin.
Surely you can't just insert whatever word you want in between the two halves of a split card. That card is "Start And Fire."

Geez Louis, how Far back do you record these things in advance?
Love the editing on this one. 🤘

Hello you Recycla-birds
wow according to the graphic bloodrite invoke is over $40 😜
The playtest cards that are expensive aren't even the fun ones. Throat Wolf is one of the cheaper ones!
Why didn't Graham just look at the captions?
sorry i was distracted by the 4 that should be a $
So they didn't print start // fire...
So...
We didn't start the fire
