The guitar trailing off at the end sounded kinda Nirvana-style to me. The Loveless Bros. are great - I just hope that band relations aren't *permanently disrupted* .
As previously mentioned, definitely a Fugazi feel to this, and I bloody love it!!! We need to support up and coming British talent like this, keep the good stuff coming please...
I completely agree, but sometimes a comparison to another band is a lot more accessible than a description of style. "Band X sounds like Band Y mixed with Band Z" gives a listener a much more instant idea of what the band sounds like than "Band X take genre A and genre B and blend them together with the occasional reference to genre C to make something which sounds truly unique". Although often innaccurate, band name checking is often the most effective way to draw the eye of the newcomer.
darlia, wolf alice, the wytches, slaves, bloody knees, fidlar, wavves, honeyblood, the orwells, superfood, temples, peace, alvvays, happyness, yak, menace beach, baby strange. if u want more just shout :)
Yes of course it is, but if you were someone introducing somebody to Drenge, or you were a reviewer writing for an audience that had within it people unfamiliar with the band, a comparison to another more well known band(s) is a concise way of summarising their sound, as long as the comparison is accurate and well thought out. At least we can agree on the Black Keys being a shitty comparison.
Disrupted band relations. That's cute, like indie heavybrock kids glued to their radios in 99. But where' the bass player, the keyboards, the singer, or explanation about why they're a two piece.
Is it not better to just describe their sound? That way, you get the same effect as if you said 'They sound like X', except without any subjective connotations associated with the band you're comparing them to
you know what... just sleep. Become my sleeping beauty. When you awake, you will see a new world and realize what you made before has already ben dun son. Keep trying.
I don't get the Black Key's comparison. Drenge are so much faster, heavier and punkier than Black Keys, although i like both bands. Anyone care to provide an alternative opinion?
Its' just a lazy comparison because theyre both two piece bands, obviously made by someone who hasn't listened to one/either of the bands properly and/or has little or no musical knowledge.
We can agree on that. However, I can't think of a band who I would liken Drenge to, or even two bands that they might be a mix of. They have a style I could describe, pretty easily, it just seems unreliable
Saw Drenge at Reading festival and they were amazing, definitely would watch them again!!!
Amazing
you've seriously disrupted band relations
I'm hearing The Smiths and The White Stripes. And it's absolute class.
I can hear some Joy Division influence, especially in "We can do what we want"
Spot on
I like the UK'S current Grunge Revival movement

Pre-ordered the album. Worth every money.
Seeing these guys tomorrow. Thanks iTunes festival.

Your hot
does anyone know any new young bands like drenge keeping real rock n roll alive?
Royal Blood are worth a look.
Rob Fraser no they are not
WET NUNS
Wet Nuns can't be considered as a "new young band" anymore, seen as though they split up almost 2 years ago and the drummer sadly passed away
darlia, wolf alice, the wytches, slaves, bloody knees, fidlar, wavves, honeyblood, the orwells, superfood, temples, peace, alvvays, happyness, yak, menace beach, baby strange. if u want more just shout :)
so so so sick
saw them life at Portsmouth it were incred
No, I think you're right. I think if people are thinking Drenge are like the Black Keys, then they just don't know much about music.

Black key's with attitude!

I'm fucking in love with these guys! I think you name is genius (I'm Dane) it must sound crazy at the concerts hahaha
I can't seem to get the strumming pattern quite right for this- anyone got an idea?
+guitargirl the way I play it is an open upstroke then hammer on the note then down stroke with a palm mute
Rhythm on this track is a bitch, I can't figure it out for the life of me, probably one of their hardest songs to play
seeing them tonght
Can some one tell me the sense of the lyrics? i'm not english so i dont catch it all...I suppose he talks about horse race but im not sure...
Castleton, England
"YOU'VE SERIOUSLY DISRUPTED BAND RELATIONS"
What country are these guys from?
How do you pronounce the name?
You guys sound gr8 for 2 peice. Nice!
GRUNGE
Got me grinning like Nirvana did 20 years ago!
Your voice reminds me so much of Ian Curtis'
golden earring
This reminds me a lot of JEFF the brotherhood.
Just what you would exect from a night at Owlerton
Sheffield
So, Humbug?

TABS PLEASE!!
I see what you mean. I'd rather not use those descriptions, but each to their own, I guess : )
That riff is fucking dirty
filmed in the city of steel
rowdy
All you need is a guitarist and drummer for this sound!
Fucking mega.
gotta love Hillsborough ;)

Garage grunge.

fugazi-tastic
Nirvana meets the Smith
you know what... just sleep. Become my sleeping beauty. When you awake, you will see a new world and realize what you made before has already ben dun son. Keep trying.
Tweeted @unsignedbandsonline
lol!!!! youve seriously disrupted band relations
im pretty solid with a cow bell. Just saying... Or that wooden piece of crap that goes "scraaa tacha scraaa tach aaaaaargh"
huh....my nose is bleeding.
I don't get the Black Key's comparison. Drenge are so much faster, heavier and punkier than Black Keys, although i like both bands. Anyone care to provide an alternative opinion?
his voice sounds a bit like lee ranaldo's, nas stuff
reminds me of mudhoney
People are gonna die in those mosh-pits! And it will be a noble death.
I just heard about this band on a political show.
Sound like Nirvana and Queens of The Stone Age had a baby
drenj
Hahaha. I think the 'director' in this case was just one of their mates waving a camera around. But nice try buddy.
So, Black Keys? Listen to Thickfreakness and tell me they don't have attitude
Im soooo mad at a friend of mine! He should be playing drum and im a guitar player and it pisses me off sooo much he's not more into drum playing!!!!!
Its' just a lazy comparison because theyre both two piece bands, obviously made by someone who hasn't listened to one/either of the bands properly and/or has little or no musical knowledge.
obvious troll is obvious.
