Developing and manufacturing the MRX consumed 8 years of my life and was an interesting challenge. That's me riding the bikes in the video! Many of the pictures used were of rough prototypes, and not too many of the production versions.
Nice job, though, and thank you for putting this together. Dan Fischer
😍😍😍😍😍
We miss this bike re release and many would buy
Dan i like it keep up the good work , its not a easy thing to engineer a bike from the ground up - cheers
Your hands need insurance....n sell your designs to Harley pig Davidson.....
your bike may well be one of the best designed sportbikes of all time. I would have loved to see this concept come to fruition.
Didn't know about this bike, thanks a lot for making such a great in-depth video about this forgotten dream.
Shame he didn't show a video of the exhaust note it made. It was one of the largest selling points. Guess he didn't delve deep enough.
I remember reading a review for this bike years ago. The bike was originally designed to take the Aprilia 1000cc v twin rotex engine. However for some reason Aprilia could/would not supply the engine after they said they would, so he was stuck with a frame for a v twin engine and no engine. That's why it ended up with the 650 cc engine .
How could anyone legitimately profess a distain for the appearance of this motorcycle? It’s one of the most beautiful bikes I’ve ever seen!
Kane
I don't really like the tail, but the overall design isn't bad
I almost got one of these. The engine held me back. I was sold on the looks. I agree the seat was a bit much but I recall they had another top for it that really pulled it together.
I came across Fischer Motorcycles a few years ago, when it was still nearly possible to buy one used. It was awesome to find a US assembled sportbike, even with the Hyosung 650. I, as you mentioned, was blown away by the styling of the bike, and it was made to track and hug the corners. I do still want to get one, and Dan does still respond on Facebook, I wrote him a few years ago because I was planning on purchasing a fairing set to mod to a different bike, but that plan went south. Still want to get one of these, but good luck. Thank you for the good vid, Dan Fischer certainly deserves it. I really hope that he does bring the Fischer back.
That's a badass looking bike I bet it is awesome for around the town with the V-Twin
that's one beautiful looking bike!
@I Am Sekou get your manners fixed
Looks great bike shame they stopped making
Anthony wiseman 1 its not a shame at all. The stopped making it because it was utter crap and factory support was non existant.
I liked the looks of it too.
The body lines to me kinda reminds me of the later model Lamborghini's
pimped outstereos way
Good analogy ! I totally agree
John Holmes Na the bike is beautiful but a huracan and aventador have flowing lines and a wedge shape a better analogy is a new civic type r
Excellent video. I love learning about bike history. You've got an excellent UA-cam niche. Lots more please. I wish the actual bike looked like the illustration though. Subtle differences, but it makes a big difference.
The problem is the bike was supposed to use a big bore Rotax V-Twin, but the agreement was voided by Rotax (most point to Aprilia for making a fuss) and Hyosung happened to step up. At the power level intended, this bike would've been absolutely fantastic
I live in South Korea and these engines don't get the love they deserve. Super cheap to maintain, and decent grunt. I've riden the naked version of the 650 and it was a blast.
Fine looking bike, even if a slight under-performer. Mostly, though, I appreciate the passion and the effort you showed making a video like this. Top notch, to be sure. Thanks!
Thanks for putting this together. I really hadn't heard about this bike. Great trivia. Keep it up mate!
The USA definitely needs to make there own sport bike
Buell makes the EB 1190, go check it out.
Erik Buell Racing makes sport bikes. No reason get one over the competition though.
Averitt13 EBR doesn't exist anymore...in years time Buell bikes will turn into these broken dreams as well
Jumpr 21 that’s strange there was one on the 2017 super bike shootout.
Averitt13 which 2017 super bike shootout? EBR shut down AGAIN... earlier this year. They had some pretty cheap liquidation sales though...
Well, young man.. You have MY attention. really like the looks of the bike. Love to ride one for a day or so. Going to keep my eyes open. Just hit 70 and have been riding for 56 years. Ain't quitting now!
maybe america should make their own inline 4 supersports ? or a street naked triple ?
Look up EBR racing. America cant stand a chance against Japan
Unfortunately, compared to the competition the EBR 1190 was underpowered and overpriced. It was also lacking a little in technology. It's price point was aimed at the potential Ducati Panigale riders and with the long standing history of Ducati it's hard to merge into the market with that being your main competition.
also hate to say it, but EBR is now dead. Partially thanks to Hero.
hero motocorp, that is.
A V8 sport bike.
GREAT WORK....YOU TALK ABOUT THE UNSUNG HEROS....AND THERE IS A LOT OF THEM....KEEP DOING IT...
Looks really, good, wish this Manufacturer was still around.
never herd of that bike nice job!!!
the gauge is a koso rx2. it's better than most gauges out there even today. (and it does have a fuel gauge)
You finally did it Hero, i just bought a 02 VFR 800 bit of a vintner project up here in Alberta but ill get it ready for next season.
Thanks for all your great vids, i will be doing the mods to. Keep up the good work.
Love the look of the bike. I reckon if he could have started with a more powerful engine it may have been a bigger hit, but I suppose funding and end sales prices are the keys.
I saw this bike at the 08 Bay Area Motorcycle Show. It is a gorgeous bike and I was considering buying one.
I know this bike, probably because I own two Hyosung 650's. It is indeed rare, which makes it hold it's price, but it also makes parts availability a nightmare as I understand reading through the Hyosung sub forum for MRX. Strange they used the cab'd engines as Hyosung switched to EFI in 2009 (mid 2008 actually). Maybe it was a cheaper deal for them to get the older engines? 80hp is a bit optimistic, it's 72 at the crank if I'm not mistaken.
Death666wish former hyo owner here too. Did a bit of reading on them and they sounded awesome apart from the usual hyo issues lol
Carbs were cheaper and at the time much easier to tune, first gen injection was costly and not as smooth. Crabs had been refined for decades. New injection is great. I still prefer carbs, I like things I can work on.
Joe Veitch I agree. Carbs rode way smoother and they weren’t too hard to work on at all.
Many bikes still use them, reliable easy to work on and cheaper and simpler, no electronics needed. Simple is sometimes better. Way easier to troubleshoot, no fuel pump or regulator needed either.
Joe Veitch absolutely. I do miss working on my old bike. Being a hyosung I did it often haha
Dude I am Loving the Design on that thing it's pretty unique..
And I can totally feel the love u have for that bike...U shud probably meet fischer
Dude, I once searched your channel on UA-cam "herorr" and all the results were about horror movies lol.
lol really? haha
I really hope he does well in India!! Super courageous guy starting out on his own!!
Stunning looking bike love it
eatadickorsomeum Take a look at the FP1 - FoggyPetroans1 The 900 triple was built to compete against the 750 fours and 1000 v-twin superbikes/bsbk/wdbk/ama in the late 90's
It's so interesting to see how much history is in the motorcycle industry
Great story!
Good job ! Really nice change from all the usual "7 Things I Love About Wheelies" etc. videos we keep seeing elsewhere. Look forward to more pieces like this.
also, fyi, hyosung did manufacture the sv650 motors.
Sergei Petrov Hyosung "stole" Suzuki's engineers and copy SV's engine, but they never made engines to Suzuki.
Other than the engine..........this bike is a stunner!!! Am loving all the sharp lines and angles that went into this bodywork!!! Excellent video!!!
Nice bike....
Tommy Gun They tried with the Buell but as you may know that didn't work out to well. Americans should go with European bikes as most American or so called American bikes have Japanese or Chinese parts peppered on them? China owns most of the U.S. as it is anyhow? Thank Killary Clinton for giving China all of the United States parks over to China?
but shit concept
N
I came very close to buying one of these. The engine held me back. Awesome looking bike that just didn't catch on.
Thx for the edumacation! I had no idea!
I'm studying to know how to design bikes so I could start the first Canadian motor company. I want to bring the rotary motor back and watching this inspired me to continue.
I'm not quite a fan of the seat or the weird ass edge to the tank. Other than that, beautiful.
I sat on one of these at the Edmonton motorcycle show when they debuted. Ames motorsports managed to get one in for the show, probably through connections at Hyosung as they were the premier dealer in North America at they time. They looked great but that tank was really tall and pointy. It was poking me right in the solar plexus. I couldn't find a comfortable position.
Not a fan of the bike but the video was very well done. Do more.
The Yellow got me..and suspension and brakes are great for avg track day guy. I'd take one now...bet the bike dials in nice... avg trackster could use up all the ponies fast with those springs and really get deeper into corners. I want to ride that bike on the track.
The hyosung 650 is a great engine its very torquey, but the rest of the bike especially the elctric part is crap. This bike is pretty interesting its kind of a begginer bike like a ninja 650 and i think its unfair to compare this bike to a 600cc supersport.
Pablo it might be unfair to compare them but 606 50s kind of get lumped into the same category and that 650 twin is much much weaker then a good 600 inline 4 Super Sport ask Ducati about that. You would need probably at least an 800 or an 850cc V-Twin pretty hotly tuned to compete with the Japanese 600. Centimeter per centimeter the 600 class is one of the stronger classes by quite a bit.
Hey HeroRR! My friend here in Australia is considering buying a bike for the first time in his life, however he's been convinced to buy a no brand one online just because it's cheap and powerful.
Could you do a video entailing the ways and the extent to which a no-brand or low quality brand bikes are inferior to mainstream (yamaha, honda, ktm etc.) bikes?
Thanks heaps and great video!
I wish Bombardier would get into Sport bikes.. They make Snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, side by sides, Jet-ski's, boats, fucking airplanes etc etc. They're a huge company with more than enough funds, and I'm almost certain they'd come out guns blazing competing with the Japanese.
Paul Martin you mean BRP/ Can-am. It's no longer Bombardier. Although I think they could make a hell of a bike! They have really showed up and given Polaris competition to the RZR's and with high HP ATV's
Paul Martin I agree with you Paul Martin Bobardier is a Great & high tech company that couuld absolutely compete with the best of them.
They used to make dirt bikes back in the 70’s and 80’s. Everything from 125’s up to 800’s
Thx for enriching me on this forgotten gem.
The Britten V1000 is another one you should check out.
kiwi-on-a-bike 660 ever looked into the superhawk (firestorm) 996 v-twin
Bike Life I've had a couple of CBF's never had a twin ever, I like the triples and 4's. Good looking bike though all the same.
kiwi-on-a-bike 660 john britton was a genius glad to see someone knows who he was.too bad he passed long ago he would have been a giant with a little more time.
Robert DelRosso yes he definitely was one of my heroes. One of his bikes is in a museum not too far away from me, maybe I should do a vid of my own. hmmmm.
Britten bikes r something else
... They would eat up most streetbikes as a light breakfast
I like it, and the power plant. Of course I loved the SV650 and my only complaint was it suspension and brakes which the Fisher addressed.
as far as the looks go i am the guy in the middle. Do i think it looks bad? no not at all but would i want one? not really. i'll stick with the r6
Remember reading alot of motorcycle magazine articles about this bike. It got decent reviews back then especially making a mark a us sport bike.
Bike Looks pretty awesome all around. But that rear end is hideous! It looks like it's trying to support the buttcheeks of a 300 pound guy
tolga1cool lol i was thinking about the purpose of that, i never touch the rear part of my seat
BrianShaggy074 In theory it's for support under hard acceleration and when the front end comes up. So you can only slide back a certain amount
tolga1cool except this bike isn't going to throw you back like a 1000cc so the seat is just for edgy looks
the only thing im un sure of is the middle intake at the front, some angles it works, others ir doesnt
tolga1cool yup, it was built for 'muricans
the bike looks great, i just lost my old school spotrsbike a year ago due to old age (fzr250kr genesis, the one in my profile pics i missed her alot)and if and if ever i'll be given a chance for a new bike i would choose this bike, its unique i will stand out from the rest sad to know they are no longer around
thanks for the video. I enjoyed it and found it very interesting. I still can't understand why they would throw that Korean motor into such a seemingly well built bike. USA bikes... more one day.
+SalemCBR I know :( unfortunately it’s all about the costs.
You think one of the big four would allow their engine in a production bike that would make them look bad? Why is it honda or Kawasaki or others do not make a real sport bike with a great V twin? Lighter and cheaper than a 4. I would kill for that bike with reliable 100 hp v twin. Better torque, than 4 and most riding does not need extreme speeds, make power where it is needed in mid range where most street riding is done. NO way one of the big 4 could not make this a reality, 100 hp V twin in sportbike weighing in at 400 lbs wet. WHY do they not build that?
If you could throw a Triumph triple engine in there then hell yeah I would take that bike. Wouldn't mind a nice twin but the hinckley triple sounds just as sweet in my book
No doubt triples still relatively light good power and sound better than most twins to me.
@Joe Veitch - Sounds like we're looking for the same bike.
I really like the half faired version. It reminds me of the Ducati SuperSport CR... somewhere between a Monster and 916 with modern angular styling.
Sweet
Those body lines are just gorgeous I think these bikes will be a future collectible.
The motorcycle NO ONE CARES existed. Didn't out perform anything, heavy , underpowered....but "made in america". Sounds like a Harley with brakes Sure it looks good. Trying to figure out why you made this video. It SHOULD be rare. "Stunning looking" is the only thing going for it. If it made over 100 horse and weighed 300 lbs wet.....it WOULD be a dream
+600k views of monetization. That's partially why he made it.
You have no idea of how involved or expensive engines and or motorcycles are to design and produce. The marvels the big four produce is partly due to the decades of investment and production often around far more more humble and mundane machines than you would never ordane to ride never mind buy.
@@owen368 Shut up stupid. Idiots with dumb ideas that fail aren't heroes. You have no idea how gay your "but, but, but" reply sounded?
In preproduction this bike was actually featured in major motorcycle publication(back when we bought magazines lol). I can't remember which one but, surely it won't be hard to find.
i haven't heard any news about this company in India
because the author of this video give wrong info. its not India, its marketed in Indonesia in 2010 dapurpacu.com/12947/minerva-sachs-fischer-mrx-650-hanya-rp-120-juta/
Excellent find! Seems he is trying to sell about 100 units in this region and has already gathered up factory trained mechanics to support the bike post-sale. They are claiming 85HP (at the crank,so subtract about 8-9 at the wheel) but only 40.5 ft-lbs of torque. That is not very impressive, but might just serve the market there very well.
ua-cam.com/video/PoKWePWO0v0/v-deo.html
hmm. I guess bcs it's a 150 you don't hear much about it
Dennis M yeah it's rubbish. Cheap nasty vtwin. V4 would have me drooling over it.
I know I'm like a year and a half late to this but there's an important detail here being overlooked. I don't know exactly what the class structure was like in 2009 but nowadays by CCS rules and a lot of other smaller club racing organizations that use CCS rules (Like the LRRS I ran in) the lightweight class is entirely made up of SV650s with a few Ninja 650s, Ducati Monsters, and even a stray EX500 or two. This bike would slot perfectly in that category and given the high end suspension and brake components this bike would probably have been a force to be reckoned with.
It looks so uncomfortable with that tank
Meant in fun jest without harmful intent, unless readers have had their humor surgically removed.
*"Many cruiser riders prefer a fat & curved bob between their legs...* ;P
*oh er, does that sounds euphemisticly satirical?? ..I hope so!"* :)
very sharp looking bike. I like the style. Great story I never knew that this bike existed until now.
What the fuck is the engine doing in this chassis? ?
Richard Jones+ indeed. When he said 650 v-twin I assumed it'd be an SV650 engine
spankeyfish yeah bullshit engine by a bullshit company..GO THE SUZUKI
Powering the bike i would guess
Chief Denis
NO. under powering the bike I would guess.. That's why it was a flop.. unreliable also...
Richard Jones the engine was tuned for mid range torque so that it'll be useable in the street where normal people ride, same thing mv agusta does with their street bikes, sacrifice the 'useless in the street' headline numbers for the useful mid range ones.
i feel like the real problem you have with the power plant is the country of origin, rather than it's actual performance
There was a test on this bike in an Australian magazine when released. It did sound the goods back then. I believe the engine was going to the the Rotex Aprilia Millie V twin.
My helmet has this on it,,,,,,, Performance not Image,,,,,seems to piss off those harley pukes!. Sometimes, they have their women with them and they want to race me,,, I give them a chance and then I blow past them on my back wheel,,,damn sure love doing that!. Oh yeah by the way,,,I'm a 70 yr old man on a liter gsxr,,,,that REALLY upsets them.
Justin Campbell+ Shut up stupid
scott merrow Haha really? Thanks for insulting me for no reason.
scott merrow Thanks. Yes I do have a Harley, as well as a S1000RR. Just because someone has a Harley doesn't mean they are automatically a "Harley boy". I could care less about that, it was a bike I liked and I bought it. I'm not one of those "If it's not a Harley, it's not a real bike" guys. Hence the BMW. I just thought it was funny the way he made that statement.
You like to talk don't you? Of course you have a Harley...that's why you made your insulting comment in answer to the original posters insulting (to Harley owners) comment. I think Harley's are for people who need/want to be the center of attention and that you have more money than brains. If you thought his comment "was funny" you should have just said so and not taken a dig at him like you did. I had no excuse for jabbing at you, just felt like it. Anything else?
Justin Campbell cool grandpa... 👍 ...
The Fischer MRX was beautiful! I remember I called their customer service to ask a couple of questions, back when I started riding in 2010, because I was into American made products and had stumbled upon this bike(I eventually got a Buell Lightning X1). It also made me happy that Fischer was apparently a Maryland based company(???), me being from Annapolis. I dont remember reading that it had carbs though, or a Hyosung engine😵🤢, so thanks for this educational and nostalgic trip down memory lane bro!
and then i bought all the left over spare parts... mad8v.com is the only place in the world with new mrx plastics :]
Had That Same Picture On My Phone Too, Knew Nothing Other Than It Was Gorgeous !!! Would Definitely Buy A 750, Or 1000 If It Ever Happens
Why the POS engine.... what a fail!!! All Fischer has to do is put in a good EFI engine. That's it. If buy it then.
I guess some people are just stupid, and make stupid business decisions.
"Deck out a bike with Brembos and Ohlins, this'll be great! Oops, there goes all our budget, all we can afford are these old-model Hyodung engines that no American will touch because they know Hyosung is notoriously unreliable cheap garbage...oh and don't make any attempts at weight saving, we can just rely on the fact that we're ''all murican made!"... people will flock to it!"
I love that fischer back in the days i warn between that and the hyosung 650..
How could he be an ama racer and think a v-twin was a good idea for a sport bike?? o_O
Beautiful bike though, had me sold until they said v-twin........
There's an entire class for racing 650cc twins so its not as stupid as you're making out, v twins have been raced for years and while they arent used in wsbk etc they have their advantages, but go on and tell everyone why they're terrible and how Fischer, Ducati and anyone else is wrong for racing a V twin.
I did not know about this bike is bike was creative and beautiful hopefully one day it be out on the market again keep your chin up
Or...how about comparing it to a guy who did this BEFORE Fischer...Erik Buell...Who built far better bikes than both the ones you talked about, with better components. The Buell Firebolt XB12r had everything you talked about only more...along with dual ceramic front disc brakes, nearly 100 HP, and they were great price...and then the 1125r came out, which COMPETED easily with the Japanese bikes. Sadly, too many fanboys who have never ridden a bike, think they need 1000cc inline 4 cylinder bikes, and who just want to copy what their douchebag friend bought, caused Buell to go bankrupt as well and cease production.
TheAcenightcreeper I love my 1125r, it’s still a head turner
I hope they make it back and find a way to keep the prices low for those who want to ride but can't do the hgher prices to get started.
How much does it cost?!
Watch the video. He answered this question.
Tulip Football. 17 000
Rodrigo thank you
Lol
Instead of watching a 7 min video, this dude waited over 24 hrs for someone else to answer the question for him.
Also, he gave you the wrong answer lmao!
8k
Excellent video of a beautiful underrated motorcycle
nice fuckin bike
WE THANK YOU FRIEND FOR PROVIDING US INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SO RARE MOTORCYCLE...!!I REALLY LIKE IT...ESPECIALLY THE EXHAUST AND THE FULL OF ANLGES OVERALL SHAPE..!!!OH..AND ALSO THE FRONT LIGHTS WITH THE HAWK BEAK IN THE MIDDLE...!!
it's a fucking glorified scooter
4:23 I still have no Idea what these "double wheels" are called and why they are used. Saw them on a Busa once and I can still remember that, back then it was the fastest series bike
POS.
Exactly
I always rooted for these guys...
and in Indonesia there's a bike manufaturer(more into importer of chinese-made motorcycle tho), called minerva(from sachs actually) and they wanted to sell the mrx650 , form there I knew about this bike, but never met one. The point is, thank you for reminding me of this bike,I thought no one talked about this bike anymore...Thanks!!
I love this bike.. Since it was first on the internet. Unfortunately not doing well now. I really hope this great brand join hands with Indian motorcycle brand hero motocorp. We really want to see this gorgeous bike back into the streeets.
Thanks for sharing this video and presenting this beautiful bike to us..
Hyosung Vtwin is really a Gen 1 sv650 based engine. So this was a good looking SV.
Reminds me of the Buell EBR 1190RX. I wish more people supported him, but it's a tough market out there.
the 150 looks and sounds like a fun little bike...small and torque ee . lol my first bike was a 1988 ysr 50! i could do "brake stands" using my heels to lift the rear axel.top speedo speed was 100k, my best was 90km downhill with tailwind!the bike is stock and still managed to get a speeding ticket!
Come to India, Fisher!!! We, the bikers here, support people like you... who can give us good products with value for money... Look what we did to the Bajaj motor cycles!!! They are collaborating with the likes of KTM and Kawasaki now...
All the best!!!
i love the look of the bike! hope they make more so i can buy one
Was a cool idea and bike. Great motor in a SV650 unit. The Hyosung unit was the Suzuki carbed 650 motor with slightly updated preys to mane more power. It's a shame it didn't take off...
Love the look! I'm also quite taken on the straight edges, reminds me of the ktm rc8 in that regard
it's like an f4i and rc8 made a baby! and it was asthmatic
Used to stare at this bike long time ago, completely forgot about it good to see
Wonder if u could swap in a different engine. FZ09 triple may fit, older similar Vtwin like RC51 or squeeze in a inline 4 600 or 1k
A gorgeous bike. Hope to see it return to the U.S.
im making it u all.. i am coming home next year and bringing a entry level 2800 dollar bike with r3 speed and ducati sound.. and its a blast to ride at only 270 lbs.. im tearing it up over here tested 3 years now..and its a lil beast and can run highway speeds no issues and a 235cc platform.. the perfect commuter bike and the perfect first bike.. its going to be a LLUNATION boys and gurls..
Unless I’m much mistaken, the hyosung 650 motor is the same that was in the original sv650 around the turn of the century. Hyosung aquired the rights to it or something like that.
As of the 11/03/2019 there has been no news about Fischer and their supposed entry towards the Indian market with a 150cc motorcycle. It's safe to say that there will never be another Fischer bike
