Ooh im new to this channel did he ever do it? I saw the Mantis, Shark, and Snake lures were the most out of the box. This man is good at what he does. Wow.
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
Wow probably the most realistic bait I've ever seen. Amazing work as usual. You never cease to stun me with your work. I would love to see what you would do with a giant water bug aka ( toe biter). Maybe an insect line of lures.
Your research is a good approach to this art. In the 70's super glue was around but we use to mix araldite, collect the biggest grass hoppers we could find put just a drop on their back without sticking their wings together, and fasten # 2 trout hook, let dry, get the longest rod you could find, attach to the line get down to the water and bounce on the surface, trout love live insects. Your appointment to detail is extraordinary, fish have exceptional sight. If you could just get the wings to flap.
All your videos are awesome! I really like when you start and the treble hooks show! Ok now I’ll watch!!! Really love it when you speed up the work footage got me rolling!!!! You need to do a comedy vid!!! Any body else agree?
I've been requesting this bait for a while. I seen the title of this video pop up and I was like YES!! You did an awesome job as usual. Looks almost identical to cicadas around here in Missouri. Keep up the good work you are very talented and can tell you really enjoy what you do. Thanks again!!
Nicely done when I was a boy I would cats the cicada and put them in my matchbox carboxyl my grandmother would get so mad because of the noise they make it would ring through the house I had like 20 in my closet at one time it was so funny well I see that You are getting closer to making a goldfish LOL
*Found this through a UA-cam video **enjoyable.fishing** recommend does exactly what its meant to do. Very durable and no hang-ups at all surprisingly*
I really enjoy watching the process and seeing the lure evolve. Cicada imitations are a gun lure for Bass in Australia. They normally have hinged wings that close on the cast and open when you retrieve. The Tiemco Soft Shell Cicada is one of the best.
Generally with water based airbrush paints I've always found multiple light, diluted coats are best if you want even colour or controlled fades but there are some cool effects possible with laying it on thick. I experimented with an interesting finish ages ago which involved laying down a base coat of bright metallic silver then shooting a quick layer of clear coat over the top, once this had dried you shot a full wet coat of black before dabbing at it with a scrunched up plastic carrier bag to lift some of the black and expose the silver underneath in a kind of cool marble pattern. It's a pretty cool pattern as this stage but if you then give it several coats of a candy style paint (ie. a tinted lacquer) and then clear coat it looks amazing in the sunlight
Not sure if you read new comments on older videos. Just some advice. When you carve the veins on the wings add your paint while the protective film is still on it. Let paint dry add second coat, let dry peel off film. It will keep the wing crystal clear. Great vids been enjoying watching you work.
neat cicada. when fishing those type baits I always use a special knot. first tie a open knot run the string though the eye and than back though the open knot than make another knot and bring both together. should have a ring size open knot that forms. this way when you pull and twitch the bait it will go from left to right. making it preform great. very strong knot.
Amazing video Marling Baits I love the lure ideas and I love you creating new lure ideas the other people suggest Keep up the amazing work Marling Baits !!
You should of put a cup on that lure so it is like a cicada hopping across the water in Australia that’s how we have them still a very good looking lure
I don't know if you see notifications on old videos, but this would be a great time to bring back this idea, maybe with some new twists, like buzzing/vibrating, or micro sized. This summer the Midwest is going to see the overlap of two major cicada broods, both the 13 year and 17 year are going to arrive at the same time, with parts of Illinois and Iowa being in the zone that will get both.
God some mad skills marlin baits I enjoy watching you make some interesting baits so far they have been cool baits and like the detail you put into them and all out of a piece of wood awesome 👍🙌🎣🎣
Here in Iowa them things get loud!! But it’s oddly relaxing to hear them and tree frogs at the lake. I think I’m going to go off and try making my baits aswell seems fun!!
Another quality video. A recommendation is you should try to make a bullhead catfish. Interestingly enough I have caught smallmouth with them numerous times.
The cicada have wings out to sides when it lands in water. Then they kinda buzz across to top of the water. The way your wings are could make fish miss the hook. Either way, excellent job! Love the way it looks so real...
i think the action is fine....i kinda like the way it's current design is so you can make it do more or less depending on your retrieval technique.....that should definitely get hits.....great job!!
For the lines, I recommend using a black SHARPIE and wiping down with alcohol. That will leave your plastic clear and still leave the black in the lines : )
I was in Chicago a few weeks ago. The cicadas made it sound like they put car alarms up in the trees! My brother took me to Shakespeare in the park at Loyola and the poor actors were drowned out.
Quick tip bro, to keep those airbubbles out of the epoxy hit it super fast with the map gas bottle and it wil pop all the tiny bubbles and give a much more clear coat!
Put the wing forward it will crawl the lure like the 3d bat of savage gear 😉 sorry for my bad english 🤗 don't stop crafting lure, your's are awesome !!
I think one with small flashy blades fastened to hold the wings on (instead of screws) to give some flash and distressed looks on the water would be pretty cool too. Still think it came out pretty amazing though!!! Fine job!!
put the hook on the front of the bate and tie off on the back as you pull it the wings will grab the water and it should start to flip and flop. if it dosent flip and flop making the wings jointed will help with that, but were they are fixed to the body you can fish it like a popper , another way i fish something like this is to do a very fast but small twitching motions as it floats to make alot of ripples around the bate this works best close to any vegetation... this can be a very versatile bate.
Cicadas don't eat tree sap from the bark area, but from the roots when they burrow under the ground. We have ours every years, and they haven't damaged our trees. The sounds in the summer are part of the South, and I would miss them.
I Know Hes The Professional And I'm Just A Turd......But The Wings Look Upside Down To Me For Some Reason....But I Love These Videos.....One Of The Few Channels I Watch From Beginning To End
Yeah they're on correctly! You can see him looking at cicada pics on the internet and you can tell they go that way. You probably assume they look upside down due to seeing other types of insects where the longer bit is on the top of the wing. These wings have to fold under another bit, so they have the smaller bits on top. ^^
yeah, i just took a freshly dead cicada, posed it with pins and let it dry, then i put a bunch of thick coats of acrylic on it and ran the wire through and added hooks. it works great
I know you're big on fishing and making lures to use, but with your carving and attention to detail, I think it would be pretty cool to see you make a hand craved & painted duck decoy out of wood.
Just noticed one on the water this week it was moving very slowly in a strait line ,stopped picked it up from the water ,held it for 2 or 3 min, it then flew away . I think what you have done will work, for certain at dusk.
In East TN right now the underground cicada thingys are hatching in the millions and the top water bite is on fire!
“Fish... that’s good” best quote 😂
11/10
"Fish...friend I don't think so"
Patiently awaiting a bullhead catfish swimbait!

The red eyes were a good choice. Gorgeous bait bro

I am completely mesmerized by these videos.
Aye, the cicada lure. That's another one I suggested. I'll watch later. Can't wait.
The fun facts were an awesome accompaniment to the basic part of the lure making!
All your videos are awesome! I really like when you start and the treble hooks show! Ok now I’ll watch!!! Really love it when you speed up the work footage got me rolling!!!! You need to do a comedy vid!!! Any body else agree?
I found out about your videos yesterday and cant stop watching them , probably the only channel I watche from beginning to end
Man, i love these baits u make, and i really want to make my own when i get the tools from inspiration from you! Thank you for that!

You are a wonderfully talented Artist! Love All of the Videos.
Make a Betta fish lure next. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be. Keep up the fantastic work !
i actually enjoyed listening to the fun facts about the cicada while he was working.
It's a rare video when there's no mention of glass micro-spheres!

I love when you add the clear coat . It just makes it turn to candy lol. It becomes a real official looking bait then
I like the action that bait has! It acts natural. It will catch fish. I would leave it the way it is. That bait is awesome! Nice job bud!
At least he is listening to good music!!, Good job on the videos, keep up the good work!!!
My favorite new channel. This is incredible.
Caught my first tagged fish on a cicada. My buddy stepped on it walking in the dark. Made a gnarly crunch lol. Excellent video as always.
Such great craftsmanship. Good job

I am pretty much obsessed with your videos I look for a new one every day👌
I've seen about 50 of your videos, but I subbed because of that intro. Well done!
Like the information type format in the beginning good stuff!
Another great looking bait,I could watch you make lures all day. Great job agian.
You could make an Axolotl (waterdog). Catch lots of bass with these!

With Halloween just around the corner perhaps a soft body bat bait would be in order...
Randy Morris
or a skeleton fish paint scheme! Or pumpkin popper!
dude you make making baits actually look like a lot of fun, I like working with my hands and this is something I would love to try my hand at
I don't know if you see notifications on old videos, but this would be a great time to bring back this idea, maybe with some new twists, like buzzing/vibrating, or micro sized.

A Cicada topwater crawler would be an awesome build you could do. I picked up a few from Duo Realis.
Have used Cicadas many times for Catfishing as well This is so freaky good
God some mad skills marlin baits I enjoy watching you make some interesting baits so far they have been cool baits and like the detail you put into them and all out of a piece of wood awesome 👍🙌🎣🎣

A good choice of music. I heard some undefined Bluegrass. The one song that I could tell apart was "Keep the Wolves Away" by Uncle Lucius.
It always amazes me at the detail you get with the knife you use. What could you do with a tool made for the Job!!!!
Guide bearings on your bandsaw are adjusted much better. You can probably feel a difference in the cutting. Another great bait. Looks great.
Go to the craft store and get rub & buff. Can get in all colors. Be perfect for the wings. It sticks in crevasses. Smear on and rub off. Super slick.
Another quality video. A recommendation is you should try to make a bullhead catfish. Interestingly enough I have caught smallmouth with them numerous times.
I like the fun facts plz do more on different lures

You did an awesome job on the wings. (:
22:25 it looks so good reminds me of a frog almost good job can u do a minnow lure?
Ты молодец! У тебя безграничный талант!! Продолжай в том же духе!)))
Do the cicada killer!!!! The cicada is gorgeous bro, I like it a lot!!! Thanks! Good boy Chip Chip!!!🐺🤟
i think the action is fine....i kinda like the way it's current design is so you can make it do more or less depending on your retrieval technique.....that should definitely get hits.....great job!!
Dude, incredible once again. How about trying to make a jointed snake lure?
For doing the wings, try a black wash like nuln oil from citadel. Would make filling the lines much easier. Can also be sprayed from an airbrush.
You have some mad skills dude! Neat stuff
For the lines, I recommend using a black SHARPIE and wiping down with alcohol. That will leave your plastic clear and still leave the black in the lines : )
nice work, i have catched chub and pike with a lure almost like that, but with the wings spread. Good luck with it!
You are an artist.
Baits &Biology 101!! Sign up for classes today!love it.
Just came across this, awesome idea! And you’re extremely good looking!😉
I was in Chicago a few weeks ago. The cicadas made it sound like they put car alarms up in the trees! My brother took me to Shakespeare in the park at Loyola and the poor actors were drowned out.
i live in chicago and confirm, i honestly dont even hear them anymore my brain just drowns it out
Nice editing this video I like the new stuff you did!
Fantastic work... I'm impressed with how that turned out!

I think one with small flashy blades fastened to hold the wings on (instead of screws) to give some flash and distressed looks on the water would be pretty cool too. Still think it came out pretty amazing though!!! Fine job!!
I have seen them in my area with red eyes. Great job on that!👍
the rains relaxing.
I waited long time for your new idea 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome! You should make an Oscar lure or an angelfish lure! Or a bass lure would be awesome!

Yay that was my idea!:) awesome job
I hit the subscribe button after seeing one of your video.. Now I'm hooked in your channel
Man your really fast with the sandpaper 😁😉👍
I'm think this lure like the moby , painting on plastic or cray , Art for 3D sculpt also. A Beautiful lure !
But about the action of this lure , top water or about surface of water ?
I know you're big on fishing and making lures to use, but with your carving and attention to detail, I think it would be pretty cool to see you make a hand craved & painted duck decoy out of wood.
💪🔥👍
You made us wait this week ☺️, awesome looking bait bro!
You are so good at that

i like all your lures you're an inspiration for me to continue my lure making hobby...tnks man...keep it up!!!
looks good my dude
amazing lure like always you should make a mosquito fish lure for small bass/crappie
Great videos, Thank you. I just had a thought , if you were to drill a hole and attach the wings to a shaft they could spin on the sides...?
