Thanks for the guided tour of repairing the Garrard turntable. It's a great service to those of us who prefer to repair and reuse good items, rather than purchasing new items that are often inferior.
Superb TTs, I have also restored many. OH thank you saying 'GArrard' and not 'GErrard'! Considering Garrard in England began by making watches it makes perfect sense.
Hi Lupe, this is awesome! I have one of these. the color is more dark grey, but it belonged to my dad and it's probably been over 20 years since used. I would like to refurbish it so thank you for posting this video!
Hello. I wondered if you might be able to answer a question. I recently bought a Garrard R.F. 80M turntable. The motor works, I have the 45 and the 33 spindle, the speed dial turns, the belts look pretty good, it even has a plinth. If your questions I have are these one I can't get the start button to stay over to play. It will slide and if you hold it the platter will continue to turn but if you let go it stops. Secondly my biggest concern right now is I cannot get the tonearm to move from the resting position. I can move it up and down but it will not move left or right. Is there some secret or trick that I need to know to get this thing to move? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hi used to have alot of them i sold them all they came a right pain to deal with went over to pro gear like 1/2 1 tape decks as i can service them better teac 44 80-8 otari mtr 12 decks record and space came a thing
the wheel is called an idler wheel another name is the drive wheel and under the sub platter is the turntable and that happens to be one nice looking garrard turntable enjoy it and happy new year
I have a Garrard Model R. C. 80 (from about 1950) which has a problem. I have had it cleaned, oiled and basically refurbished, BUT it has one problem I can't (or the technician) figure out. When the record player is turned on all seems to work well, then I have the record drop (which it does according to size and speed), the tone arm then lifts up and moves over to drop and play the record but instead lifts back up and returns to its' holder and the changer shuts off. I can't get the arm to play the record and go through a normal cycle. I can't figure out what is wrong. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Solidified grease... removing and servicing gear mechanism...would solve your problem....Recently I did one for RC65A
This is British product so please let's use the British pronunciation of the word 'Garrard'.
