- Quick walk around of my 1984 CUCV M1028 K30 pickup. I just put the dash back in and it was getting dark but I decided to shoot this video while there was a little light left.

It was 17 degrees outside so sorry if it wasn't the best footage. I didn't have my coat on!
You can get more information on my website at the link above
The M1028 has a few upgrades over the M1008 CUCV. Added leaf and better front diff. Also it has a few hundred more pounds of GVWR. - Авто та транспорт
That’s a great truck. Thanks for restoring it and making this video.
Nice M1028, i have one my dad gave me for my first vehicle. He bought it around 1999-2000 when the military was retiring them to the civilian market. He put a 4 inch suspension lift on her and sits on Powerking SuperTraction 9.00/16LT‘s. What other 16 year old guy owns a M1028 as a first vehicle/daily driver? Everyone at school drives showboats that they call trucks with those ugly rims and neon lights, i will keep my M1028 how my dad had it and use it as my work truck. Mike
Awesome story and first vehicle. Thanks for sharing. There is a lot of life left in these trucks.
these CUCVS are so tough, it said on the computer that EMPs can't affect them
I believe that's correct. They are all mechanical fuel injection.
Good to hear and love the story I bought A M1009 a couple months ago I love it
it's me again Richard (the proud 16 year old that owns the M1028), I had to watch this truck again, it sounds so good. and I got news from my mother that I'm going to fix my M1028 this summer and then drive her to school, I'm really excited about the news and I wanted to let you know about that and im going to post the first attempt cold start on my CUCV after 10 years and post it on my channel, I don't know if I told you that her injection pump was weak from sitting most of her life at the bases, and it croaked on my dad, but she only has a little over 37k ORIGINAL miles, it's like a new old stock truck since it was barely used from the USMC and NASA( when the USMC retired her). now I have a M1028 virus in me and I'm going crazy about these trucks since I got told about getting her running this summer and driving her. Mike😀👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎆🎇✨🎈🎉🎊🎆
Good for you. Check in anytime.
Let me know when you post a video. I'd love to see it running.
steel soldiers is the best website for ex military trucks like the CUCV and the M35A2, I never knew about the oil filters, but do you know why it recommends to change the oil filters to the spin on?
Great advice. Steelsoldiers is an amazing site with a lot of knowledge.
Search for the doghead starter relay mod. I upgraded this vehicle with the relay and the spin on fuel filter (not sure if you meant fuel or oil filter). I had a lot of water in the tank but after replacing the tank and the spin on filter the system stayed primed.
For the fuel filter spin on upgrade I think the larger capacity, easier bleeding, and the old box units would sometime have a faulty seal and would allow air and moisture into the system. It has been a while since I researched it but there may be other reasons too. One thing to note is you will need to deal with a light on the dash when you remove the old box filter. So you can take out the dash bulb or find another workaround.
Thank you! It was a fun build and came a long way from how I bought it.
It seems like every diesel cold start video has 3 dislikes probably Greta and her 2 butt buddies
Now everybody understands what the "square body mafia" is all about. What few don't know is that Chevrolet has updated the CUCV with the LSSV on the GMT-900 platform, and GM Defense has prototyped the Army ISV on the Colorado platform.
♥Exactly what i need in my life!
God that's why I love Chevy
Those look like 37×12.50's from a HMMWV.I use to have a 1985 M1028A1 CUCV with a 4 Inch Procomp Lift and 37×12.50's with Lockers on the Front Axle.My M1028A1 had only 54,000 Miles on it's 6.2L.I wanted to get a Banks Turbocharger for it,but it never happened, however I did do it with my M1009 CUCV.
I just bpught my 1st M1028 and was wondering how good it will do in the winter? I currently dive a Crown Victoria and they are a little complicated in the winter.
I love this truck!
Did you have to cut the front fenders to fit those tires? Are they the Super Lug tires 9:00 x16”?
Arthur Alzamora I did trim the front fender behind the tire. If you look closely at the fender you can see where it’s trimmed.
The tires were oe tires from a Humvee
M1008 not an M1028. M1028 was the military version of the Chevy K30/K3500 1-ton dually. This one is not a dually, so that makes it into an M1008, not an M1028. Still a nice truck though.
Did u leave the 24 volt starter?
Yes
SWEEEEEEET
What's the difference between the M1008 & M1028?
M1008 & M1028/M1028A1 have different Leafs,but the same 4.56 Gear Ratio,and even Transfer Cases.The M1008 and M1028A1 have a NP-208 Transfer Case,the M1028 has a NP-205 Transfer Case.There is also a M1028A2 & M1028A3 Dually which also have different Transfer Cases,the M1028A2 has a NP-205 and M1028A3 has NP-208.
All M1028 trucks were the same gearing as the M1008. M1028's were a shelter carrier, they had heavier leafs in the rear. The 28 also had a limited slip in the front where the 08 didn't. The M1028a2 trucks were converted from M1031 trucks which had the NP-205. The a3 trucks had the NP-208 because they were converted from the M1028.
I want this truck so bad
Thanks for watching. It was a fun project for sure.
Video smoothing lets him wobble like...a slime? But a really nice car anyways ;-)
great buy for less than 11000$, wow.TH
