For your question about do kids know about royalty, Atleast on my own exp (we probably around same age) my parent do teach me. Since im asian and my country do have royalty, our parent and culture did install us since we were kid to be very respectful towards royalty. We even used to have the king and their family potrait at home frame along with our family photo on wall. Back then there is no internet but respecting and obedient towards royalty and their family was enforce to us growing up despite our country is govern by prime minister. usually king face will be print on our currency and lot of article on newspaper do help us kid back then to recognize who our king is before internet exist. As for the courtesy on how to talk and address also some basic royalty language, we commoner knows a bit but when we have to actually go to palace and visit the king (few time my dad recieved some achievement) which not really common, my mom and dad teach me the etique and words also the proper manner on how to present myself to especially if i spoken directly to the king and queen (i only ever spoke and shake their hands once tho -i was 10 at that time). As for prince and princess and indirect king relative, we still have to show some respect altho less formal especially the further their hierarchy is from the king. It also depend on how formal the meeting is and how close u are. But if it formal event, yeah u defo need some knowledge how to conduct and dress yourself.
