// I'm Kylie, homeschool mum of three kiddos, since 2007. Being a homeschool parent has been of the best experiences of my life. We are very much an eclectic homeschool and pick and choose from all manner of styles, methods and curriculum options. Even though we do use homeschool curriculum we are also very relaxed in our approach. I am super excited to be joining the home education community here on UA-cam. I am so glad you're here and can't wait to get to know you all better!

Huge fan of Frixon pens here, including the Frixion erasable highlighters. I hated white out as a child and I'm so glad its not something we use now lol. We also brought the art markers you have, both the big and small kit, real game changer as in quality and usability for art/projects. Loving them! Also loving kmarts 'bulk buys for 2L paints, 2L glue, mega felt pack, and "flair pens" etc. Has been a big money saver this year. We were lucky last year our cheap Charlie store sold a lot of Monte Mart art supplies mega cheap so we brought the lot! Prob our biggest investment this year was returning our Epson eco printer and buying a colour laser. I liked the appeal of being eco but the nonsense of quality and crap performance did my head in. Laser printer has just been my long fave with owning a dedicated black one for 14 years and so now have the colour one.The toners work out cheaper than the eco ink on ebay anyway! Win win.

oh yay! I do really need to try out the Frixon pens for sure and erasable highlighters... my mind is blown I had no idea!! I need to go hunting I think LOL! I am so glad you have those art markers. We haven't used them yet so I am looking forward to seeing what the kids think of them. Thanks for sharing 🙂

We love the back to school deals. We just get the small sliver pencil sharpeners. Not expensive but they last a bit better. We still have glue leftover from a few years ago. I just allowed my kids to use pen when I felt like they were able!!! We use ink pens. We don’t use our whiteboards daily. We use grid books and go thru them. We love using clay and have a set of tools for it.

We got our sharpener from Costco, totally worthwhile investment. You can blitz a whole lot of pencils in no time and no more blisters on fingers lol.

@@deborahhayes3641 we are mainly using pen but I’ll look into it next time we are at Costco. My daughter won’t be ready for pen tho so it may be worth it but she’s not sharpening her pencils yet either.

I think I should have just bought one of those small silver sharpeners too.

      Is it battery operated?

Yes battery operated, but lasts ages. We had the cheaper battery sharpener from kmart but it chewed thru battles quickly.

We love Frixion pens here too. Even Brian uses them on crosswords. The highlighters are great too. I often use one to mark where I am up to on knitting patterns. They are so handy.

Expo markers are the standard in the US…I just got a 60 pack of thin tip generic markers on Amazon & they do not erase well at all!

Oh dear what a pain! I’m so glad the expo markers are everywhere here now, they never used to be.

Are there any youtubers you recommend who are still in that younger, cool, fun, educational toys bracket? I'd love to see some homeschoolers recommendations for resources.

Nicole, are you wanting Aussie UA-camrs, or does that not matter?

@@TheHomeschoolSweetSpot We are Australian, but I don't think it matters a huge amount. I imagine I can make adjustments to make them AU friendly if I need. I can only think of money, weight and measurement that I would need to change, and I can sub those out easy enough I think. I want to be careful I don't go overboard and buy unnecessary things, but at the same time I want to disguise as much learning as play, as I can :)
