I know further studies need to be done, but I’m looking forward in seeing how a Reaper plays their role with the void sent; if their relationship is destined to end with they themselves being reaped. Another nice lecture, Professor.
I’m willing to bet the Echo will keep us WoLs from succumbing to the void’s influence
@@KaliDreamer more than likely, yes. Unfortunate for those aspiring reapers without the echo then
i also curious on WHY would a non pure-blood garlean (aka people that can wield magic) make a pact with a voidsent to use magic when they most likely able to do so naturally. I mean, the original reapers were born out of their desire to tap into their own aetherpool so they can wield magic and revenge on their oppressor. If anyone with natural ability to wield magic want to be a reaper, doesn't that mean making a pact with voidsent kinda redundant? well unless making a pact with a voidsent does give a significant adventages
@@kidneystone699 I mean even without the bonus aether, the powers of the void are nothing to be scoffed at. For an ambitious warrior struggling to keep up with their enemies, I can see empowering yourself as such being very enticing.
ib4 our reaper avatar turns out to be what's left of our 13th fragment
As the Sharlayan Sages slowly make themselves known to Eorzea, I’m very invested in the appearance of their aetheric manipulations and spells. Specifically their possible connection to the arcane geometries of conventional Arcanism. To see a lecture on this would be a fascinating topic.
I briefly discuss such things in my talks about Aether and the Disciplines of Magic. Though until I get the chance to visit Old Sharlayan I'll won't be able to truly pick their brains about it. Looks impressive though!
Why is it always a portal to the void that is opened? Why not any other of the 13?
"I shall open a tear in reality and summon forth an unknown horror!" Proceeds to summon some random farmer from the First.
It's only a theory I have , but maybe it is a vestige of what the asciens tried to do. Their goals what to create a rejoining to the source, but it failed and only cause the 13th shard to rot in darkness. But still, chaos energy should go back to the source if the world had collapsed, so maybe the broken world does have some sort of ethereal link to the source, as the ether should have gone back there if the world had collapsed.
Because of that, drawing energy from elsewhere would create an pathway to that shard that is linked to the source by its failed collapse
In otherwards, the ascians 1/4 succeeded in the rejoining of the 13th. The source and 13th are now vaguely parallel to one another.
It might also have something to do with the Voidsent themselves all wanting to steal aether from the source and the efforts made to do so. The other shards don’t even know about the existence of the others or the source.
Despite hating Shadowbringers intensely I remain curious about the other reflections. I wonder how the many centuries apart has changed them. Imagine a reflection where the Garlean Empire won or the Allagan Empire never fell.
Or how the world would have developed without the calamities causing so much nations to rise and fall. But I’d never want full expansions over there like Shadowbringers. Brief visits only if at all.
Watching these videos really makes me realize how much stuff I’ve missed out on! Especially in ARR
This world is so much bigger than the MSQ will ever let you know!
Thank you for the lore videos.
Your channel is cleary underrated, and deserves every praise.
Spread the word! Unless someone stops me I'm here to stay!
I love the Void lore and I really hope we get to go there for an expansion at some point. Maybe to bring Unulkahai back home if nothing else.
ever since FF3, i have wondered about it...
In Yu Yu Hakusho, there's a similar explanation of why most of the demons habitating the real world are weak
I want to lock a Voidsent in a room with a Sin-Eater and see what happens
likely a death battle
a play of checkers.
@@SynodicScribe solitaire
Wouldn’t it be weird if they ended up balancing each other out with their opposite alignment of aether to restore their original balanced forms?
Considering the recent revelations regarding Allagan war machines and their relation to Diabolos specifically, I'd be extremely interested in in hearing whatever you can find on the subject of Diabolos and the gates he seems to preside over.
You're referring to the Diablo Armament (or whatever it's called) in Zavnir as a part of the Resistance Weapons relic story?
Huh. No mention of my favorite form of voidsent, the Gaelikitten.
I love this channel! Solid summaries on subjects like this are few and far between, and I know myself and a few of my friends have gotten some real value from your videos. You deserve way more subs, Scribe. Keep up the good work! :D
Would love to hear some more about the different types of voidsents. I also think a video about the sin eaters and what parallelisms can (or can't) be made between them and the voidsent would be interesting, provided there's enough info on them -and even if there isn't enough material to grant them a whole video it'd be great if that could be touched upon somewhere else.
On another note, I'm really liking your videos! Very good stuff :)
Considering...Zenos has a voidsent that is...quite the looker. I predict future things will come.
the Voidsent is just the opp of the sin eaters
Yes
Professor, I've heard tales that the realm known as "the First" suffers an imbalance of Light-aspected aether that nearly destroyed it. What do you think would happen if the dimensional boundary between the First and the Void were to wane and the two were to send aspected aether at each other? Could it perhaps cause both to harmonize and reattune to balanced states?
Good lord, I’m not the only one who wondered about that.
so basically, Voidsent are the exact opposite of Lightwareden and stuff? Holy .. :o
What an excellent lesson on the dangers of voidsent
I think it would be a fantastic idea to summon one, be back soon.
TL&DR: The Void is literaly the Ascians making a mess and saying "We figure it out later. After we rejoined the rest."
"I fix later...."
@@SynodicScribe Did not mean that the video is to long or something. Just wanted to highlight the "I´ll fix later" attitude of the Ascians.
I was so surprised when I learned about how the Voidsent and the 13th came to be. I mean “Emet Selch, man, it’s been thousands and thousands of years and you guys haven’t figured out a solution to the 13th? You’re exterminating whole worlds yet you don’t have a way to finish the plan? What if it’s not fixable? Maybe you should figure out that part first?”
You deserve so much more recognition for what you do!
Isn't the umbral part of the wheel attributed to activity, not stagnation? Like ShB confirms that Light symbolizes stagnation whereas Shadow symbolizes activity. So the aether starvation could easily come from the fact that they burn through any aether they have at a blistering pace because darkness is activity and thusly causes the quick burning of aether.
Aether only flows the way it naturally should when balanced. If aether tilts to far toward any element or aspect it no longer matters if it's astral or umbral. The energy no longer flows, as a result, the 13th/Void is almost aetherless when compared to the Source, who's aether is currently in balance.
@@SynodicScribe I see, thank you for elaborating, I have just recently finished SHB and am maining a BLM currently, so I thought that the voidsents hunger stems more from the fact that umbral, being associated with the quick spending of aether (as a BLM, that would be your big spenders like your big boom booms) and no stagnation for a recovery and abundance of aether, meaning they have no aether because they basically devoured it all with no chance to recover.
At least, that was my theory.
@@imaran1303 You seem to have misunderstood that cutscene with Urianger then. As always, Astral = Active, Umbral = Passive. That conversation was wondering where Light and Darkness fall into the equation now that we have conflicting data. Simply put, Urianger's new working theory was that light is more close to Umbral energy and Darkness is closer to Astral energy.
@@SynodicScribe Ah, yeah, seems I actually completely misunderstood, thank you for clearing that up.
Desperately wanting a Reaper video!!!
Lets go! Lore time baby!
You have your 868th subscriber. I do not yet have FFXIV, but I wish to at some point in the future. Till then, I will be avidly learning from your lectures, professor. Till next class!
Gonna need sources for Voidsent aether being stagnant.
The Void is flooded with Dark. If anything, Voidsent are hyper-polarized towards Astral. Sineaters are hyper-polarized in the opposite direction.
Thus, its been speculated that the direction matters not. Aetheric hyper-polarization is what causes the hunger.
Its fun to speculate but to present flights of fancy as established lore is another.
I'll explain here as I have to so many others. Aether only flows the way it should when balanced. To be pushed to far in ANY direction restricts or cancels that flow. The void lacks natural flowing aether because of this problem, and as such they try to invade the Source for it instead.
@@SynodicScribe Again. Sources.
When over-aspected, aether just becomes corrupted aether.
Pushing the aspect towards a direction has no impact on the polarity whatsoever.
Also, Voidsent are not Primals. They can't temper people.
@@Shuuchi0676 Sources are in the description.
The void sent are not stagnant they are active hence the upper ranks have actual personalities compared to the light wardens who have none barring some exceptions
If their aether was moving as it should they wouldn't be starved for it. Though you're right in thinking the Sin Eaters are just like them! It's the same problem but flipped onto a different affinity. Voidsent simply had a lot more time to evolve than Sin Eaters.
Another great video, thank you.
So... Think the recent patches have given you enough material for another void lesson?
Keep up the good work.
I will!
I much enjoyed this lecture.
Hi, I am doing a senior research paper topic that has voidsent creatures apart of it! I am trying my best to make this topic work out as I need two official publications to cite from. You listed the Encyclopedia Eorzea publications, and I cannot find the volume II pdf anywhere online that is reputable. I want to know if you could possibly provide images through imgur or citations of volumn II things you cited in this video? I am very passionate about the topic I'm researching in since it's a lore base topic I am doing! I Thanks in advance if you can!
Also you have cover amazing amount of lore that connects with my topic very well! I am not sure if this video will count for both the official publications though.
Spoilers be damned, I need to know
The blue fire on the ruins of Mach look a lot like the blue energy Reapers have on their scythe attacks
Great video!
I very much enjoyed this lecture. I'm new to the channel so I'm not sure if you've done it yet but, A video on summoner Magick, and the harmful effects people without the echo could get?
please please please please please more lessons on the voidsent types
you're the best dude
Don't forget. You're pretty awesome too!
That was a new intro, I haven't seen that image in game
One question.
Who the fuck is Erebos ?
Even if voidsent are difficult to control, it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to see someone exploiting that to their advantage. For example, what's stopping a mage from opening a portal to the void behind enemy lines and letting the resulting voidsent wreak havoc on the enemy? Is creating such rifts not possible from long distance?
That's actually what the Mhach in their war against Amdapor. And things didn't end well for either side. haha
What power level would you put on something like the Diablos Armament? It’s nowhere the same as any Diabolos we encountered so far.
That's a really tough one. You're right, regular diablos has little to no chance against Armament. However, Diablos Hollow does. We never got to see just how strong Diablos Hollow was outside of our fight, but I guarantee it would have had the same destructive potential while also being much harder to kill thanks to his invulnerability ability.
You'd think the Asciens would prioritize fixing the void.
Right? I assume it's that thing of "I'll fix it later," but later turns out to be around 10,000 years
@@SynodicScribe tbf, it's not like they've had a time limit, but seriously. ...admittedly I can't begin to wrap my head around how they would fix it.
@@Wanderingsage7 That's actually addressed in a Shadowbringer's side quest! There's now a group researching to see if it's possible to revert the void back into the 13th Shard.
hes like necrit but for ffxiv
*Ex-death crashed trough the wall russian man style*
DID SOMEONE SAY VOID?!
I'm currently reading the FF Lost Stranger manga, so I need to understand what this is.
4:17 In what dungeon do you fight this FF11 dragon?
That would be Amdapor Keep
@@souldanny. thanks
Didn’t Gilgamesh pass through the void to travel to the various Final Fantasy worlds? How does the void relate to these other games?
more FF14 lore is much appreciated ^w^ nice video man
Perhaps the similar imbalances of aether are that akin to that of the end times.
Here's my question. Why do the ascians seek to recomplete Zodiark if they've already destroyed that chance by turning the 13th into an irreparable un-rejoinable world? Like shouldn't that be the end of the story lol. Seems like a plothole to me
zodiark can be summoned even with one shard sacrificed, but not with its full potential.
Zodiark was made up of faith and aether lol. This comment suggests aether depletes entirely and doesn't return to the stream.
My best guess is that the 13th is the 'Problem for later" sort of situation. Just because it is corrupted by dark aether doesn't mean it can't be changed again. Likely, they chose to move t another shard to expand their knowledge. Remember, most ascians were gone forever, including their knowledge. The survivors needed to relearn much to supplement what they knew. This is why I think the void was their first try. But it doesn't mean that they couldn't change it again. Or worse, the rejoining of all the others itself would have forced the 13th to rejoin. If the road takes a fork, even the scenic route still gets to your destination eventually.
Has this guy even played the game? I can understand mispronouncing Mhach and Scathach (really, aside from someone who speaks Irish Gaelic I'd be surprised to find anyone who DOES pronounce those correctly) but aether?! They practically say it every other sentence!
And I'm pretty sure that the voidsent's aether hasn't been imbalanced to the point of "stagnation," as the Flood of Darkness is, by aetherological definition, overaspected towards activity, what the Source refers to as Astral alignment and what the First refers to as Darkness.
Patch 6.1 going forward :)
If only Blue Mage could have been connected to the Void and Voidsent somehow. Would have been really cool thing. Especially if Blue Mage were based off of the one from FFIX.
Fyi, Scathach is pronounced "skah-hahk"
*Spoilers*
I wonder if the voidsent are appearing in EW because the 13th is being rejoined with the source.
Oh god an incomplete joining like that would be absolute chaos since the Source isn't primed for one yet.
You were right
noice, 666's like. XD
You should do one on Diabolos :) is he really gone for good or could he end up like a primal?
