Knowledge is the only thing missing between hip hop and this shit today and immortal is the prophet of hip hop! Ghatddamit! It was an honor seeing him live
This comment is old I know but I thought Vinnie Paz was worth mentioning since it sounds like he's directly dissing someone in his music even though he's not, kinda like Big L.
I think Soloman said it best.Writing an album is like a relationship,,,You have to spend time on it and bring it all together,,while a battle is like a one night stand,,Its like bustin a quick one basically.Best way to discribe it,but for reals tho you really cant spend the time you need on an album if your writing for a battle at the same time, its a totally different mentality.
Guys, its about time this conversation came to the forefront... If you like Lil Wayne, thats fine, cool. But after you read this, you really need to assess your musical taste. Music, as a whole, is supposed to be about the voice of a people. Look at the 60s-90s! Now, do you really think that Lil Wayne represents your demographic? Does he really represent everybody else? No he is a corporate puppet. He is there to make you think "Oh, he is succesful, being rich is the ultimate goal! I want to be like him" But the reality? In this country? The margin between the rich and the poor is so large, that if you worked a thousand lifetimes you wouldn't be as rich as the top 1%. Ever. So, you can worship something you'll never be, that benefits the rich record companies, who would toss lil wayne in the garbage in an instant. Or you can go for the self respecting, altruistic artist who actually built something in this world. Who tried to change it. So be cautious when you talk about Technique, you are talking about a real, true human being, not some robot rapping ghost writer's shit. PEace.
You do realise wayne were a superstar in the late 90s too? he been rapping for 17 years - you make it sound like wayne just popped out with album in 2008, fuck outta here , did he become more mainstream? yes , blame the majority of hiphop fans , they decide what artists put out, and blame the heads at universal - and mabey blame the fact he grew up and got tired of rapping about shooting people and he did that or did this that is considered "real rap" fuck outta here you small minded imbecile
The problem with bassguy is that music is nto about the voice of the people, it can simply be an expression of yourself and how you view yourself. music does not have to represent a body of people or anything, it can literally be about anything. wayne is different than he was 10 years ago, hell 7-8 years ago when I found him.
WorldWeezy Okay, so i basically cant discern a message from what you just wrote, other than "youre a stupid idiot bla bla bla." Who cares about lil wayne? He's trash.
WorldWeezy Yea dude, did you even read the content of MY post? I was referring to the fact that lil wayne is not representative of anybody other than himself, and by giving in to the mainstream mentality your promoting the national wealth inequality here in this country. if you cant think deeply enough to understand that concept, thats fine.
thebassguy9083 haha, he's by far the best mainstream artist, and have been the past 10 years - i don't give a fuck what you call "fake " , who gives a shit about wayne? millions of people, the REAL question here is , who gives a fuck about YOU ,and what you have too say, NO ONE DOES; you're a NOBODY you will keep being a NOBODY - hence you are on UA-cam bashing billionares - which lead me to the obvious statement, umadbrow? - i acutally find people like you funny when you come with statements like that, it just support my earlier statement by calling you a imbecile. oh and , learn proper English , thanks
I think it's the other way around. in his songs it's all kind of tainted by the whole 'you gotta be hard'-thing, but when he sits down in a more 'balanced' situation and speaks his mind, THAT'S where he really makes sense. I can't be alone in this..
IT is great at what he's doing, but let's not dismiss the fact that he's not the only one bringing up social commentary into his music. You also have Brother Ali, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, and even Nas (well, his old stuff at least)
I just seems harder too me. A battle rapper in order to be good has to out rhyme their challenger. A emcee just has to have an open mind i think. What i mean by that is they need to use their own thoughts to come up with good somgs. And eminem and nas both battled alot and their two of the best. But your right not too many make it big.
I'll have to check them. Just I rarely hear cats make albums to the level that Tribe, Wu, Diamond D, Beatnuts, Roots, De La, PE, Gangstarr, Brand Nubians, etc. would make. Yeah I'm old school but sue me, their classics stand unmatched. Black Thought, Common, RZA & KRS-1 battle & freestyle hard though.
how come every one of his interviews theres ppl disliking what he as to say, he's one impressive extremely knowledgable human beings, must be brain dead.
I can't believe someone below would say that IT "is just another rapper saying the same old stuff." Could that be any further from the truth? "Social issues, etc.?" How many rappers out there actually rap about social issues? This man is trying to make people aware of stuff that 99% of rappers don't know about or won't talk about...even underground rappers! Forgot commercial rappers (now THAT'S the same old stuff). You say he doesn't compare to Eminem. So what? Em is the greatest ever.
I think the truth is, the talented battlers don't have enough time to focus on their music careers coz they're too busy battling, and other battlers just weren't that good when it comes to making songs, they focus on the wrong things
Vlad was trying to get immortal to say something bad about canibus but it failed just like when he tried to get a response outta busta. All emcees have respect canibus.
@blackmaxpayne you got a good question. "what is 1200 bars? The term "bars" is not just for rap music it can be for jazz/any music. The term 'bars' are used in music theory as general and it is not specific to rap music. A lot of music got 4-5 bars of notes. Every bar is a section of a written song or piece of music that consists of 4 beats in it. For example, I will take one the most popular beat breaks on Earth to explain how a bar works- We Will Rock You by Queen. The beat is found in the song so I'm sure you can find in we will rock you by by queen. That's why Vanilla Ice kinda took it off that popular song Ice ice baby.
true? I thought he made a pretty valid point, culdv delivered the info better I guess. I think your right about various facets making up rap as a whole but battling is one facet as a whole even if you writing creatively, descriptively/destructively whatever see the point is your always going for the same outcome right, what he was saying is that making songs isnt limited in that way coz the artists chooses the purpose and intention behind them.make abit more sense?
thats crazy how Snoop took this n made Gladiator school, Immortal Tech knows his shit. #Salute to you bein one of the realest ppl i see. - Rah T. I know u chill wit diabolic, Id love to get into the URL even as a journalist worse comes to worse man. Im tryna get into this, so i can go get involved. LI!
Music and battle rapping are completely different, Skyzoo lost to jin, but if you listen to skyzoo's new album or any of his projects he has completely grown as a lyricst and a song writer
Cus he used to do it back in the day when they had a BEAT playing in the background. I think after about 2000 they started battling without beats which makes it 1000000000x easier to come off the top of the dome. If any of these new cats had a beat they would prob choke
Poor break down & comparison by Tech. I respect him but he was off here. BATTLING: one "TECHNIQUE" used by emcees to "hone" their abilities to think & write in a competitively creative way. SONGS: The culmination of the work put in while "honing" your craft. Anyone can make a "rap" song but those that "HONED" their craft in various ways, (battling is just one way) have a stronger ability to communicate in their songs. More intriguing and ultimately more influential "Lyrical" content.
+Danny MusicFreak I suppose it's still a battle in the sense of who can remember pre-written lines and display them in a way that comes across as relevant to get a reaction. As well as the skill..
"freestyling" was never what people think it is. Truth is its very very hard to come up with intricate lines to tear someone down especially over a beat on the spot.
Really? I don't know man, rap battlers rarely make great songs & albums. Great emcees should have freestyle & battle skills but be able to compose songs. Hendrix & Miles could both play piano but mastered their chosen instruments.
when Im watching interviews, I need to start ending my interview splurges with an Immortal Tech one so other peoples stupidity doesnt rub off on me....
its so funny how that Canibus shit is still confusing the fuck outta people months later. If I had a dime for every interviewee that says they thought Canibus was doing a rope-a-dope, I'd be on vacation right now.
Only rappers aside from him who did positive things with their income, and would me a multi millionaire..Zack De la Rocha from Rage Against the Machine. Also Johnny 5 from Flobot another Hip-pop alternative indie band...who use money to help their community.
Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That being said, if we judged the quality of everything based on sales, we would all be wearing clothes and shoes from Wal-Mart because they have more sales than any other business in the world. Do you buy your clothes and shoes from Wally World?
I used this interview as reference to a recent conversation about battle rap. this guy makes a compelling point.
Knowledge is the only thing missing between hip hop and this shit today and immortal is the prophet of hip hop! Ghatddamit! It was an honor seeing him live
all i want is immortal tech to talk about capital steez
^^🙏
One of the best rappers ever. period.
Battle Rappers Today Really Stepped their Game Up with Music
Whoever said weezy is better but tech is alright needs to stop huffing glue!
I like how he says America.
Amarekah
This has got to be one of the best videos by VLAD that i've seen so far...finally interviewing someone who sounds like he has some sense.
I don't know Rap battling is more of a sport than an art. But at the same time it's an art. It's like getting in a ring with words.
Vlad, these are the types of videos we want to see, keep it up!
If you are a good battle rapper. You can do anything when it comes to hip hop.
Immortal Technique is definetly not overrated.
well having sed that what about Big L he was a battle M.C and his songs where so deep in sick its such a dam shame he died R.I.P BIG-L
This comment is old I know but I thought Vinnie Paz was worth mentioning since it sounds like he's directly dissing someone in his music even though he's not, kinda like Big L.

Man this dude just has a very interesting way of thinking. He really ponders shit a lot, I like that.
I like Technique's interviews, he sounds educated when he talks.
he's such a smart individual.. he's completely right 100%.
He also buys farm land in Peru, giving a lot of people work, subsistence and housing.
Battle rap is cool in 2012, they just need to keep it fresh and entertaining. Like the Lux vs Calicoe battle, Rex vs Verb, them joints were fire.
man immortal tech had some great fucking rap battles
i'm great in history, and i can rap (not well) but it would be a great Honor to work with Immortal Technique
Wow. Great point. I love how articulate some rappers are.
he is a very intelligent dude..... i respect Immortal Tech

Everyone who knows bis knows something wasn't right that night. Immortal is a Smart dude!

Dope interview.
Tech seems like he'd be a hardass boss haha, I love listening to him speak tho
great interview
The wise man has spoken
I'll have to check them. Just I rarely hear cats make albums to the level that Tribe, Wu, Diamond D, Beatnuts, Roots, De La, PE, Gangstarr, Brand Nubians, etc. would make. Yeah I'm old school but sue me, their classics stand unmatched. Black Thought, Common, RZA & KRS-1 battle & freestyle hard though.
He is 100% right
Immortal Technique is a fucking legend
LOL that's Poison Pen. He's one of I.T's homies who does a lot in the battle scene
Have you once in your mind ever thought hey maybe i don't think enough.
I would defiantly pay to see immortal battle himself
Immortel Technique is a brilliant, Vibrent and steller men in every aspect!!!
how come every one of his interviews theres ppl disliking what he as to say, he's one impressive extremely knowledgable human beings, must be brain dead.
have u heard of Iron Solomon ?? his album "Monster" is one of the best underground albums of 2012 so far
he is peruvian, he was born here in peru in lima
Well said!
Battling isn't what it use to be because hip hop has evolved...
YES VLAD !! YES !!!
"ripping down ripping down ripping down ripping down" lmao ,,we get it!
Poetry still does wonders. . . if your good at that with a high IQ and a good flow & breath control. . . some good stuido songs can come about
One of the smartest rappers alive.. Immortal Technique!
one of the best
They dont even battle over beats anymore
I can't believe someone below would say that IT "is just another rapper saying the same old stuff." Could that be any further from the truth? "Social issues, etc.?" found this one on www.quora.com/How-are-rap-lyrics-divided-into-bars

Yea, battle rap is a gladiator sport, immortal technique learned that when he got bodied like an amateur by iron solomon.
His battle rap record is like 74w 5L
Can I get more info on what hes talking about with Canibus and the notebook?
Agreed.
I also believe the profits of the 3rd World Tour went to developing farmland in South America.
Music and battle rapping are completely different, Skyzoo lost to jin, but if you listen to skyzoo's new album or any of his projects he has completely grown as a lyricst and a song writer

battle appers can talk about people- in life and choose to attack them or commend them-in all they ae realy good critics
Don't hate on Diz,he did what he had to do
lmao looked at the homey n told him give me the book
If you
don't forget him owning a farm growing his own vegetables etc.
You build yourself and destroy the opponent. there's a hole of hatred in the opponent but you are larger than ever that's the point
How does it smell up there?
damn man everybody is talkin about that lux battle
Facts💯💯💯💯💯
Surf is the next nigga to cross over from Battle Rap to the music industry
I don't know if I could get down on "battle raping", that sounds a little too extreme for me.
Something to do with polar shifts, I think.
Why you getting mad at him for? he's an activist and if you are what you preach your opinions will never change.
Poor break down & comparison by Tech. I respect him but he was off here.

He's giving advice because he has experience in this shit. Iron Solomon lost battles too.
I always thought battling was free-styling, not cyphers.
Nothing he says is flawed. That is great.
@Freethoughthiphop Preach on homie I agree completely
Ever heard of Dizaster or DNA for starters?
When I close my eyes this is gr8 cuz I can listen 2 this and I don't see his color.
DISS!
Song making is boxing battle rap is mma.
Really? I don't know man, rap battlers rarely make great songs & albums. Great emcees should have freestyle & battle skills but be able to compose songs. Hendrix & Miles could both play piano but mastered their chosen instruments.
what performence ??...link pls
HE'S PERUVIAN 100% , THATS HIS NATIONALITY, HIS ANCESTRY IS AFRICAN, MANY PEOPLE FROM PERU HAVE AFRICAN ROOTS
when Im watching interviews, I need to start ending my interview splurges with an Immortal Tech one so other peoples stupidity doesnt rub off on me....
how
the only thing immortal technique, it isn't a sport.
I wanna know what he has on Jin now 2:26
They really don't. Making music is what its all about. No point in destroying each other. Canibus would murder Diz on a track even diz knows it.
its so funny how that Canibus shit is still confusing the fuck outta people months later. If I had a dime for every interviewee that says they thought Canibus was doing a rope-a-dope, I'd be on vacation right now.
Like canibus said " Battle Rap there is no such art"
Only rappers aside from him who did positive things with their income, and would me a multi millionaire..Zack De la Rocha from Rage Against the Machine. Also Johnny 5 from Flobot another Hip-pop alternative indie band...who use money to help their community.
I heard that he was the best ungerground rapper in usa, is it true?
would Immortal Tech ever battle Lux or Mook or Cassidy or whoever??
+Nath Anter he would lose
+PWM NRMSM Lol
nah
Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That being said, if we judged the quality of everything based on sales, we would all be wearing clothes and shoes from Wal-Mart because they have more sales than any other business in the world. Do you buy your clothes and shoes from Wally World?
s/o immortal technique
