    I think Soloman said it best.Writing an album is like a relationship,,,You have to spend time on it and bring it all together,,while a battle is like a one night stand,,Its like bustin a quick one basically.Best way to discribe it,but for reals tho you really cant spend the time you need on an album if your writing for a battle at the same time,its a totally different mentality.

    Guys, its about time this conversation came to the forefront... If you like Lil Wayne, thats fine, cool. But after you read this, you really need to assess your musical taste. Music, as a whole, is supposed to be about the voice of a people. Look at the 60s-90s! Now, do you really think that Lil Wayne represents your demographic? Does he really represent everybody else? No he is a corporate puppet. He is there to make you think "Oh, he is succesful, being rich is the ultimate goal! I want to be like him" But the reality? In this country? The margin between the rich and the poor is so large, that if you worked a thousand lifetimes you wouldn't be as rich as the top 1%. Ever. So, you can worship something you'll never be, that benefits the rich record companies, who would toss lil wayne in the garbage in an instant. Or you can go for the self respecting, altruistic artist who actually built something in this world. Who tried to change it. So be cautious when you talk about Technique, you are talking about a real, true human being, not some robot rapping ghost writer's shit. PEace.

    • @WorldWeezy
      @WorldWeezy 10 років тому +2

      You do realise wayne were a superstar in the late 90s too? he been rapping for 17 years - you make it sound like wayne just popped out with album in 2008, fuck outta here , did he become more mainstream? yes , blame the majority of hiphop fans , they decide what artists put out, and blame the heads at universal - and mabey blame the fact he grew up and got tired of rapping about shooting people and he did that or did this that is considered "real rap" fuck outta here you small minded imbecile

    • @yosh6278
      @yosh6278 10 років тому

      The problem with bassguy is that music is nto about the voice of the people, it can simply be an expression of yourself and how you view yourself. music does not have to represent a body of people or anything, it can literally be about anything. wayne is different than he was 10 years ago, hell 7-8 years ago when I found him.

    • @thebassguy9083
      @thebassguy9083 10 років тому

      WorldWeezy Okay, so i basically cant discern a message from what you just wrote, other than "youre a stupid idiot bla bla bla." Who cares about lil wayne? He's trash.

    • @thebassguy9083
      @thebassguy9083 10 років тому

      WorldWeezy Yea dude, did you even read the content of MY post? I was referring to the fact that lil wayne is not representative of anybody other than himself, and by giving in to the mainstream mentality your promoting the national wealth inequality here in this country. if you cant think deeply enough to understand that concept, thats fine.

    • @WorldWeezy
      @WorldWeezy 10 років тому

      thebassguy9083 haha, he's by far the best mainstream artist, and have been the past 10 years - i don't give a fuck what you call "fake " , who gives a shit about wayne? millions of people, the REAL question here is , who gives a fuck about YOU ,and what you have too say, NO ONE DOES; you're a NOBODY you will keep being a NOBODY - hence you are on UA-cam bashing billionares - which lead me to the obvious statement, umadbrow? - i acutally find people like you funny when you come with statements like that, it just support my earlier statement by calling you a imbecile.
      oh and , learn proper English , thanks

    I think it's the other way around. in his songs it's all kind of tainted by the whole 'you gotta be hard'-thing, but when he sits down in a more 'balanced' situation and speaks his mind, THAT'S where he really makes sense.
    I can't be alone in this..

  • @LouieV6
    @LouieV6 11 років тому

    IT is great at what he's doing, but let's not dismiss the fact that he's not the only one bringing up social commentary into his music. You also have Brother Ali, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, and even Nas (well, his old stuff at least)

  • @mattcorbett9015
    @mattcorbett9015 12 років тому

    I just seems harder too me. A battle rapper in order to be good has to out rhyme their challenger. A emcee just has to have an open mind i think. What i mean by that is they need to use their own thoughts to come up with good somgs. And eminem and nas both battled alot and their two of the best. But your right not too many make it big.

Yeah I'm old school but sue me, their classics stand unmatched. Black Thought, Common, RZA & KRS-1 battle & freestyle hard though.

    I can't believe someone below would say that IT "is just another rapper saying the same old stuff." Could that be any further from the truth? "Social issues, etc.?" How many rappers out there actually rap about social issues? This man is trying to make people aware of stuff that 99% of rappers don't know about or won't talk about...even underground rappers! Forgot commercial rappers (now THAT'S the same old stuff). You say he doesn't compare to Eminem. So what? Em is the greatest ever.

    @blackmaxpayne you got a good question. "what is 1200 bars? The term "bars" is not just for rap music it can be for jazz/any music. The term 'bars' are used in music theory as general and it is not specific to rap music. A lot of music got 4-5 bars of notes. Every bar is a section of a written song or piece of music that consists of 4 beats in it. For example, I will take one the most popular beat breaks on Earth to explain how a bar works- We Will Rock You by Queen. The beat is found in the song so I'm sure you can find in we will rock you by by queen. That's why Vanilla Ice kinda took it off that popular song Ice ice baby.

    true? I thought he made a pretty valid point, culdv delivered the info better I guess. I think your right about various facets making up rap as a whole but battling is one facet as a whole even if you writing creatively, descriptively/destructively whatever see the point is your always going for the same outcome right, what he was saying is that making songs isnt limited in that way coz the artists chooses the purpose and intention behind them.make abit more sense?

    Poor break down & comparison by Tech. I respect him but he was off here.
    BATTLING: one "TECHNIQUE" used by emcees to "hone" their abilities to think & write in a competitively creative way.
    SONGS: The culmination of the work put in while "honing" your craft.
    Anyone can make a "rap" song but those that "HONED" their craft in various ways, (battling is just one way) have a stronger ability to communicate in their songs. More intriguing and ultimately more influential "Lyrical" content.
