I think it's great when the ads are left in. That warm nostalgic feeling I get is priceless.
    Thank you.
*Willy T Ribbs's Muhammad Ali impression was on point.

Me too, those ads really bring us back , eh? - and yeah, poor Willy. Really wanted to see that Camaro spank the Audi. Oh well. Did the best he could. Those Audis were OP.

The camera cut to Les Lindley was so perfect when Willy backed it in to the wall near the end.

Mickey, Jack Roush worked at Ford as an engineer in the 1960s, and started a company to take Ford products into drag racing and NASCAR in the '70s. His company became known for building great engines for Fords, and the man was such a fan of Ford that when they went into road racing in the '80s, he was determined to make sure that anybody taking out a Ford product would have the best stuff they could. He even started his own race team for Trans-Am and IMSA GTO, and still runs a pretty damn successful NASCAR team. The Ford folks I know (even my road race folks) say that if you want a motor that brings big HP, and lasts a long time, go buy one from Roush. His company even builds V8s for vintage cars (in the case of Ford, that's Mustangs and Cobras and GT40s!!).

Listen to that compressor surge on the Audi. Early form of anti lag...sounds amazing but fries the turbo. No big deal, it was only money;)!

I attended the (very wet) T/A & Can-Am event in 1985 at Green Valley Raceway. Still have photos.

@@downforce65 Lived close to Grenn Valley Race Way. Attended many drag races, Don Garlets, Dickey Harrel, Gene Snow. Remember the news of Art Arfons accident which took the life of local news anchor. Years ago I visited, could see where the old track was, but being taken over by housing. Great Times.

You know what made Walter a legend in my mind? When asked why Michelle Mouton would never beat him in Group B rally, his answer was, "because she's a woman." Dead ass straight faced too.

I was there and remember none of this, other than wondering who is this Jack Roush that everyone keeps talking about. I was never a fan of the Dallas Trans Am tracks, including the Addsion, TX one. I love the "chirping"....I can almost smell that race fuel. Thanks so much for bringing back some memories.

Went to school with Steve Petty. He used to look down at me for Racing stock car's on Dirt. At our local track in Antioch CA.
Than he tried it. From someone that knew that he was a good road racer on road closures. But wanted to give him more training in Driving. So they put him in a Dirt modified.
Wasn't so easy. He got a new respect for dirt racing. Steve was a Hell of a good Driver. But didn't have the knowledge of how a car was put together or how things worked by hands on. Before just jumping in & Driving. He was the shit at the point out here in California.
