- My photos taken during this year's demolition of the Manchester Odeon (formally the Paramount Theatre, Oxford Street). Sad to see it go and for anyone with fond memories of the place will remember it in its finest days.
The best cinema Manchester ever had and they couldn’t be arsed to save it !!!! So heartbreaking to see this
Man what a pisser! I love these old art deco style Odeon cinemas, they should be fuckin grade listed. Why didn't they refurbish it into something else.? Now it will be replaced with some shitty modern architecture.

Thank you. I was gutted about it. Was my once favourite cine in Manchester. Many memories. It really hurt to see it face the demolishers.
You see the concrete curtain design panel at 1:21? That's now safely in my garden. The perfect keepsake from a wonderful cinema. Dark days watching this come down.

Heartbreaking seeing this I used to go in the 80s to buy my cinema posters here I got to know the staff they let me watch free films I loved coming here so many memories but developers ruined it when they made a multi screen so it couldn’t be saved
It had an enormous screen - I saw some great films there, including Star Wars (at the age of 11) and The Last Emperor. Buildings like this are the living memory of the city.
And so another piece of our cinematic history is lost forever.
So sad , all the Saturday night memories here
It was vandalised by the developers years ago so there was nothing left worth preserving , and therefor english heritage wouldn’t list it. Manchester City council new about the deliberate vandalism done by a team of workers sent in to “supposedly “ survey the building weeks before English Heritage had been called. Mc wanted rid of it for someone twat to build a 5starr glass office block! Money and back handers speak in this city. Once one of the finest Paramount Theatres in the Country. Thanks for all your comments.

Had such great architecture, didnt make any sense to demolish it
