The Science of Zombies

On this episode of our spooky science series, get ready to shuffle your feet and hunger for braaaaaains as we uncover the origins, the strange mysteries, and even the real world parallels of the walking dead themselves: zombies.
While undead revenants have been around for a very long time, the idea of a zombie is more recent, cropping up in early African cultures and Haitian beliefs. Thanks to popular culture the zombie has made quite the resurgence lately, with many of the main tropes associated with them cropping up in movies and TV shows like Night of the Living Dead and The Walking Dead.
There are some real zombie-like viruses out there in the animal kingdom, and Dr. Zombie himself lays out the possible medical reasons behind an undead apocalypse.
