Yeah, there's already no such thing as "affordable" housing.
At least in the US, there are even more vacant houses than homeless people, and laws that make it difficult for people to build their own.
They want to make it illegal to be homeless. That’s why there are bylaws against sleeping in your car or parking overnight in parking lots in some states
But how could we build a house or apartment building without 7000 environmental surveys and community input meetings?

Who'd have thought it'd be the absurdist comedy channel that has content acknowledging that the "creatives" who complain about gentrification that's finally priced them out are typically the people who started gentrifying the affordable areas and pricing out the actual people who grew up and lived there in the first place.
They're just trying to find somewhere to live like everyone else, they don't set the prices, they don't set the zoning legislation, they don't control development; that'd be politicians, corporations, and finance workers

What creatives (who themselves were typically white and middle-class) did however was essentially colonise any working class community where rentals were cheap because of that community's low socioeconomic status, systemically replacing that community and their spaces with their own.
@@NotParticularlyWitty kids move to cities because that's where the jobs are, they move into traditionally working class areas because that's where they can afford to live, the rest is unregulated & unmitigated market forces.
Are you maybe doing a bit? It's just that huge swathes of prime urban real estate are occupied by parking garages for commuters, office buildings for people who could be working from home, and urban-freeways which never should have been to begin with but the group that's really to blame is 20-somethings who've moved to the city looking for work, let's be real when people whine about "creatives causing gentrification" that's what they're talking about. You ever notice how people always blame the current batch of young people for the ills of the world into which they've barely just emerged? Some old-school, pearl clutching, scapegoating bs. It's a little disappointing how many people are still getting played by one of the world's oldest propagandist media narratives
