Along the coast, most of the trees that you see are Live Oaks. They hold up pretty well to hurricane force winds, and the occasional saltwater intrusion. Get inland and you see mostly candlestick pines (there's probably some other name for them). The pines in the south are similar to, but different from the pines in the north.
