After some experimenting, after doing a fresh install of the game and installing mods one by one, it appears that an upscaled menu mod is the culprit for me.
Before your fix, I had to set the affinity of the speed.exe to one CPU core every time I was going to play, or I would get a crash. With your fix, I just did a 12 minute police chase on Bull's stage (doing the different goals) and the game didn't crash. It's awesome.I don't have to do that affinity thing again. I tested this on Windows 11 and I can confirm it works. The tricky part, is to get to the Advanced system options, which is a little bit harder on Win 11 (It's still on the system screen, under device specifications). But it works the same. Thanks for this.

Man I always had these random crashes (no message, the game just suddenly closes) but never bothered to look if there was a fix as it only happened occasionally and usually when I had just started the game or entered free roam. That was until right now after it happened just as I evaded a 30 minute pursuit in which I had done EVERY SINGLE RAP SHEET MILESTONE. I'd be screwed even if I had autosave on as it crashed just as the cooldown bar filled. Strangely this didn't happen when I evaded after 34 minutes just sitting on the bus station ledge. It could be way worse though, it could have crashed right after finishing one of those annoying challenge series just before autosave did its job. But even though pursuits are fun and circling the Rosewood freeway until getting the milestones then hiding at the bus station is no big deal compared to those challenges, I sure learned my lesson through frustration to not in any circunstance ignore random game crashes.
bro, I just finished 5 races against razor then held on for 5 minutes using bwm, when I was about to cross a broken bridge it suddenly crashed and the game exited itself. I am very disappointed, then I found a tutorial from this channel. I'll try it and let you know the results the day after tomorrow.

My game was working perfectly, the issue is that I installed the mod so that it looks like it does on the Xbox 360 and after a while I read that if your game had the files "d3d9" and "d3dx9_29" in the root folder it would break, thing that my game had. I'm not sure if it's for that reason specifically, maybe you need to configure some things or delete others to make it work again. Now when I try to open it it goes to a black screen and after a while it sends me to the desktop with the game running, it doesn't close, and the only alternative is to restart the PC. Does anyone know if there is a solution, or if I can at least save my game, uninstall the game and recover my games by reinstalling it. I appreciate any contribution.
Didnt work for me. Still crashed after 30 min+ persuit. Finially managed to do the challenge by avoiding the stadium while escaping. Just do your chase and leave the area. Its a bug.

I was on pursuit 10 minutes, done all the things to race the boss, all I needed to do is just drop cops, the freaking game just closed itself, I checked later, speed.exe was not in the list, but I put it in the list earlier.

Then when I started a new career it too loaded with no problem but when I try to load to my old career and come back to my new career it shows that all the blacklist racers are defeated and I cannot challenge when I finish the requirements like races and bounty. I have to free roam the map and get to the challenge point to start the challenge. Like this I completed razor. And for the final pursuit I didnt get my bmw instead I played with the car with which I defeated razor. If I try to start another career it works fine again but when I try to load my another account and load back the issue repeats how do I fix it
Restart PC is always a first. Right click on the game launcher icon and run in compatibility mode, windows XP Vista. See if that works. Could be that you're running a newer version of direct x or something and it's clashing with the game.

Does this only solve the instant crashes after exiting the garage (which i don't have) or also the random ones during driving? Also turning on DEP for everything else on your computer might have negative consequences for these other programs, no?
DEP Isn't being turned on for everything else on the PC, only the game files I select in the video. The crash this was a fix for, is when the game crashes before exiting the garage.
According to windows task manager, DEP for speed.exe is already disabled for me, and i see no reason why other EXEs in the folder would be in any way related to the game's runtime. I'll just try running the game as admin maybe that will help.

There seems to be an abundance of issues with the PC version, and I think Microsoft is too blame. Their updates seem to interfere with the game build.
