The moment Loki drops the illusion in his cell and we see how destroyed he looks is the best scene in the whole movie, Loki was such an amazingly written character
His mother wasnt an illusion in the cell, she just knows how to project her image just like Loki does. Like... she taught him or something. About Odin: I dont think they write him badly this movie. I think we as viewers get to be disillusioned about him just as Thor gets disillusioned. In the first movie Thor is an arrogant child who provokes a war, and Odin is against that and his flaws are not apparent in that situation. In the second movie we see how Odin united the realms, and its not pretty. Hes not the noble king Thor thinks he is.
@ianburns1167 I'm sure it would be noticeable that he has in control 9 whole realms, anyone with a bit of brain could understand how anyone can get it control of a realm
27:35 Good news! While there's no Loki movie, there is a show with two seasons. However, it started after Endgame was released, so you have a ways to go before you can see it.
Since when is this a popular reading? I think it makes a lot more sense for it to be an illusion he made to try to win an argument with her. That's something most people do in their heads, Loki is just doing it more viscerally.

15:58 First off... (ahem)... hammer. Second, I don’t think that was Loki creating an illusion of his mom that he could talk to. She was the one who taught Loki illusion magic, so that was more likely her sending an illusion of herself into his cell so that they could talk.
There is actually a deleted part of that scene that specifically addresses that which I still to this day don't understand why it was cut out. It added a bit of important bit of context both for the end of the scene and for tricking Malekith later on, and it really didn't hamper or drag down a scene that was already being carried rather well by both Russo and Hiddleston.
Why would she do that when she could just walk down there herself? It makes much more sense that it's an illusion that Loki creates, and means that the things she is saying are from his own subconscious.
The infinity stones are each powerful artifacts in their own right and even scarier when combined. Asgard thinks its safer if they aren't all kept in one basket. The Collector likes collecting rare and valuable things, even if he doesn't have a practical use in mind. He'd want the stones just to have them. I'm not saying he absolutely wouldn't use stuff from his collection, just that he'd want a complete set regardless and generally isn't motivated by galactic conquest. Since he collects plot devices as a hobby, he needs to have pretty good security, at least for his most valuable items. That makes him a pretty good choice to keep something out of the wrong (or at least worse) hands. He might be more secure than Asgard's vault, or at least comparable.
Collecting things is his point and purpose. He'd die if he didn't collect things. Collector collects, Watcher watches, and Galactus feeds. They are what they do.

I get what you're saying about Odin, but in the mythology, he Is an actually shady guy. True, the comics/movies are separated from the literal myth, and it may have been an accident on the writing team, but the strange change in charger throughout the film is consistent with his TRUE character. Odin is all about gaining EVERYTHING; knowledge ancient artifacts, everything! He's literally called the Allfather. In his search for ultimate knowledge, he lost his eye(in the myth not the film). He is still plenty shady in the comics version. The spin was just that he was supposedly wise, and making awful if not sometimes evil decision for the good of Asgard or his family. In the 70-80S Odin's plots and lies always came back biting them back, especially while he was in his Odin-Sleep mode. At the end of the 90s, it comes full circle with Ragnarok finally happening, and the reveal that Odin kept scheming to free himself, Thor and Asgard from a never ending cycle orchestrated by "the Ones who sit above in the shadow". Most of the hate for this movie came from either people who decided to hate the Marvel movies on principle, or people who insisted on judging it on the high standards set by other Marvel movies.
Honestly after the marvel movies. If you want theres a tv series that's not cannon to the mcu because of the writers use to be on with marvel and started the show but left the mcu. It loosely follows the mcu then goes it own way. Its called agents of shield and I think you might like it.
Thor and Loki's relationship (their whole family by extension) is definitely the highlight of this film for me. Regardless of how I'd rate it the movie in general.
Fun fact about Loki in the Avengers Thanos was controlling him to a degree using the Scepter that he gave Loki it amplified his worst thoughts and most negative traits greatly. So Taneleer Tivan AKA The Collector is a much bigger deal in the Comics than in the MCU in the Comics he one of the oldest beings in the Universe immortal and nigh invincible he's like a slightly less evil Brainiac.
After the Avengers (2012) movie Disney XD had a "Avengers Assemble" series that started in 2013. Because of this I already had idea of future possibilities and was super hype to see how the franchise continued. I couldn't wait for another movie so, the animated tv series got me into the greater Marvel universe (originally I was exclusively a Spider-Man fan).
Just for trivia and info , in the comics, Sif and Thor had an on/off romance. In a nutshell , in attempts to make her shine more as a solo character and more than a regular sidekick/ex lover, they eventually broke them off for good and sent them on different paths.
Alicia: "I don't understand the thing about people trying to collect stones" Me, knowing just what collecting those stones means: HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA
People rag on this movie but I think it's underrated. Good sci fi and fantasy action, good plot, emotional moments and funny. I don't know why people hate on it.
14:13 thats my main issue with the movie. Malekith the Accursed is supposed to be like Loki mixed with the Joker, super f-ked up. But because Loki is already in the movie, they made Malekith a super generic bad guy... 28:17 thor and syf are married in the actual mythology actually.
HAMMER. yeah Marvel Fans can be really critical of Marvel Movies, often to ridiculous degrees for that matter. that being said i have enjoyed most of what Marvel has put out. my favorites being the Iron Man, Blade and Venom Movies. Netflix's Daredevil btw, SO DAMN GOOD. the Netflix series, not the Movie with Ben Affleck.
Remember, Loki gave the elves the directions to his mom. Loki's actions insured his mother's death. Loki, and his ambition, his lust for power, killed the person who cared most for him.
For some Marvel lore: there are a small group of individuals who are the last of their race. They dedicate themselves to one, specific, task and this dedication is so strong that it holds off age. The Collector is one such being. His dedication to collecting things is so strong that it has rendered him immortal. He doesn't want the Infinity Stones to use, he wants them so he has a set of Infinity Stones. That's why the Asgardians trust him. He will keep them secure in a private, planet-spanning vault just so he can look at them and think "I have the whole set."
_"there are a small group of individuals who are the last of their race. They dedicate themselves to one, specific, task and this dedication is so strong that it holds off age. The Collector is one such being. His dedication to collecting things is so strong that it has rendered him immortal."_ Is that the MCU version? Because in the comics they were ancient (and made immortal through a specific event) that have each chosen a calling to basically keep busy (one is a competitive fighter, one is a competitive runner, one does gardening etc).
Yes, the Tesseract and the Aether are both Infinity Stones, and based on what the Collector said there are six in total. You may not know what those are, but you know how powerful the two that you've seen are, and they are called Infinity Stones...
Loki will always be Loki, but at least he seems to have learned a lesson or 2 about subtlety and maybe some respect for his brother. Can't wait for Guardians!!!
The Hammer shots are always great. This movie does suffer from a common issue with the weaker MCU movies where the film's Antagonist being forgettable and not fully fleshed out in. It was definitely OK, but not as good as it could have been with a more compelling antagonist.
@@hollowbrinethehollowfiedsu6365 Agreed, ‘though I felt the first season was rather dull. Until, you know, _that_ movie came out & completely changed the tone. Honestly, I would love to see her despair over Fitz Simmons. It would break her romance-loving heart.

27:42 lucky you there is 2 seasons of Loki show after avengers endgame and let me tell you this, It’s definitely one of THE best things marvel has ever produced (equal to infinity war and endgame). Especially the finale of Loki where Loki decides to take all the burden on his own (people who watched it know what I’m talking about). The visuals, the music, the message, the symbolism of the finale. I have never seen a more perfect, more powerful and more satisfying but bittersweet ending in a tv show till now. So yea I can’t wait until you get to it.
Hammer! Britain has the best weather service! It's just that UK weather is the final boss for forecasters. It's not particuarly bad, just a constant 50/50 of will it be meh or bleh.
I really wish they'd done more with Malekith. Christopher Eccleston is a FANTASTIC actor, with so much range! Here, they just have him giving drab monologues about darkness.
The next movie should absolutely be Guardians of the Galaxy with The Collector being teased. And the next Captain America film is a great intro to the next Avengers. So yeah, please do guardians next.
I feel so bad for this movie because it got completely screwed over by executive meddling. The Marvel Creative Committee massively rewrote the film in post-production, forcing the creators to make unpopular changes after the film had already been shot. Most significantly, Maliketh originally had an extensive backstory that explained who he was as a character and why he wanted to destroy the Nine Realms, which would have made him feel much less flat as a character, but it was entirely scrapped to make room for more Loki scenes because Loki sold more tickets.
Odin, (Anthony Hopkins) was very upset with his role in the final product. They re-shot large portions of the film and most of the actors did not like the route that they chose to go. Anthony Hopkins had stated he wouldn’t revise his role because of what they changed and how much they diminished the characters in this final version. However, he did come back because justice to Oden in Thor three.
There really aren't any 'bad' MCU movies tbh. Even the least popular ones are fairly well done in comparison to most other comic book movies we've ever gotten.
Loki doesn't hate the F out of Odin or Thor, he's just really really angry at them. It's like... he learned he's adopted and is therefore out of the will for nothing he did growing up in his brother's shadow which is now not even a shadow, it's like a mountain top.
I feel like the writers dropped the ball here. How do you shell out the cash to pay Christopher Eccleston to be your villain only to make him practically forgettable?

So Taneleer Tivan AKA The Collector is a much bigger deal in the Comics than in the MCU in the Comics he one of the oldest beings in the Universe immortal and nigh invincible he's like a slightly less evil Brainiac.
i think he still is in the movies, they just don't really focus on him at all
After the Avengers (2012) movie Disney XD had a "Avengers Assemble" series that started in 2013. Because of this I already had idea of future possibilities and was super hype to see how the franchise continued.
I couldn't wait for another movie so, the animated tv series got me into the greater Marvel universe (originally I was exclusively a Spider-Man fan).
It’s sadder when you realize that it’s kind of Loki’s fault that his mom died
Alicia drying her shoes in a London bathroom is sending me. I was born in London, moved to Portugal for sunshine tho! I feel you!
I always thought those DARK ELF blackhole bombs were crazy! :O
I much prefer the DUNMER of SKYRIM :D
That was Loki's mom talking to him. She's the one who taught him how to project himself like a 3D Skype call.
Just for trivia and info , in the comics, Sif and Thor had an on/off romance. In a nutshell , in attempts to make her shine more as a solo character and more than a regular sidekick/ex lover, they eventually broke them off for good and sent them on different paths.
the giant lizard thing is a BILGESNIPE
Can't wait for Cap next! One of my favorite MCU films. Oh, right, HAMMER.
Opinions of the movie aside, I will say that at least this movie gave us all the outtakes of Natalie Portman slapping Chris Hemsworth for real.
Alicia being surprised by Loki's tricks is funny. He's the trickster god for a reason
I love this Thor 2 reaction
Alicia: "I don't understand the thing about people trying to collect stones"
Me, knowing just what collecting those stones means: HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA
Week 1 of asking Alicia to react to the Marvel Netflix shows before getting into Infinity War or Phase 4 !!!
11:57 oh yeah rule number one of being in anywhere in Britain is ALWAYS assume it'll rain if it even seems like theres only a 1% chance.
Fun Fact: Malekith here is played by Christopher Eccleston, who also played the 9th Doctor in Doctor Who
HAMMER. yeah Marvel Fans can be really critical of Marvel Movies, often to ridiculous degrees for that matter. that being said i have enjoyed most of what Marvel has put out. my favorites being the Iron Man, Blade and Venom Movies. Netflix's Daredevil btw, SO DAMN GOOD. the Netflix series, not the Movie with Ben Affleck.
Remember, Loki gave the elves the directions to his mom. Loki's actions insured his mother's death. Loki, and his ambition, his lust for power, killed the person who cared most for him.
this is what I had to check for before commenting, the tragic part of this movie, is Loki is the reason she died. ~
Hammer. This is still to this day, my favorite Thor movie.
While there isn't a Loki movie, you'll be happy to know there is a Loki show that has 2 seasons, it takes place after Avengers Endgame.

Is that the MCU version? Because in the comics they were ancient (and made immortal through a specific event) that have each chosen a calling to basically keep busy (one is a competitive fighter, one is a competitive runner, one does gardening etc).
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps Perhaps I'm misremembering, then. Yes, I was referring to the comics
Hammer! 🔨
Oh I can’t wait for next week! You’re gonna have some fun.
4:20 "HAMMER" 🔨 If you love dragons you should watch the Godzilla Monsterverse films. Seriously you would LOVE a certain monster that appears it them.
I second this opinion yes please
I recommend watching Agents of SHIELD, even if it isn't a reaction. They tie into this and the next few movies along with being so amazing in writing
@@hollowbrinethehollowfiedsu6365 Agreed, ‘though I felt the first season was rather dull. Until, you know, _that_ movie came out & completely changed the tone. Honestly, I would love to see her despair over Fitz Simmons. It would break her romance-loving heart.
@IamMeHere2See imagine her reaction to doctor Fitz and ring girl Jemma
@ I watched the whole series as it came out. The frustration at every setback. . . . It truly went to magical places.
@@IamMeHere2See I missed a few of the episodes but yeah it was a fun ride
There's no Loki movie, but the Loki tv show is one of the best tv shows Marvel has made. Definitely worth checking out after you're done with the movies. Hammer
Natalie Portman couldn't be there to film the post-credit kiss, so Chris Helmsworth kissed his wife in a wig instead.
Loki and Thor are without a doubt the best parts of the movie.
Also,
*Hammer*
Odin, in almost all iterations is 50% wise leader and 50% trash.
The next film is important to me because it's the only one I've watched in person together with my bro while I was in New Orleans for Wrestlemania 30. A dear memory.
15:24 This scene is helps explain why the Loki tv show is so amazing.
Just wait until Avengers:Age Of Ultron(an Underrated Masterpiece imo)…where there’s a fight between your Two Favourites(no more spoilers)
"I wish there was a Loki movie"
anyone want to tell her?
I mean there's no movie but there is a show.
There is a TV series of Loki (12 episodes) that take place after Avengers Endgame. So if you want your Loki fix, there's that.
I can't wait to see Alicia's reaction to the movies after the Age of Ultron...
"You're one of my favorite characters!" Well, he's doomed NOW. lol
All I can say about this one is... don't worry, the Thor movies get better.
Hammer! Britain has the best weather service! It's just that UK weather is the final boss for forecasters. It's not particuarly bad, just a constant 50/50 of will it be meh or bleh.
Can't wait for her to see cap two.
Also hammer.
Also they retcon the long lived alien later on.
As a brit the weather rant about london was hilarious cause that is the weather here. Weather forecast is a suggestion at best
This film is the calm before the storm.
cant wait till you see the Loki series
Loki didn't get a movie, but he did get 2 seasons of a show.
This movie has the best Thor and Loki lines, sue me
I really wish they'd done more with Malekith.
Feels like dont watching movie with Alicia but watching her talking non stop 😤
There is a huge pile of reasons why Alicia needs to see "American History X".
It will hammer her emotionally and redeem Edward Norton for her.
Hammer
4:23 I love dragons too 😖🐉🫂❤️
I really hope you branch out into the Marvel Disney + series as well. You'd absolutely love the Loki series.
There really aren't any 'bad' MCU movies tbh. Even the least popular ones are fairly well done in comparison to most other comic book movies we've ever gotten.
I was looking forward to Eternals, halfway through I was wondering how they could make it boring.
Loki doesn't hate the F out of Odin or Thor, he's just really really angry at them. It's like... he learned he's adopted and is therefore out of the will for nothing he did growing up in his brother's shadow which is now not even a shadow, it's like a mountain top.
I hope u will do the shows later too. U re gonna love Loki show so much
I feel like the writers dropped the ball here. How do you shell out the cash to pay Christopher Eccleston to be your villain only to make him practically forgettable?
Hot take but this is my favorite Thor movie. I liked it much better then Thor 3
the last bad marvel 'til phase 4, this is when the roller-coaster really gets going
The realm is in PERIL!
ODIN: Odinsleep! XD
Damnit loki, can you stop dying for ONE MOVIE!
If u c this Alicia, there is a Loki series that takes place after Endgame
