No hunting for me, I found out last Wednesday, that I'm one year Cancer free. I'm working on trying to get healthy enough to hunt next year.. I truly enjoy following you guys
Solo hunting safely is my favorite. I agree it allows you to find yourself. We often are so distracted in the daily grind we leave parts of our thoughts untouched. Isolation is a great outlet to unwinding and processing those thoughts. Good luck the rest of the season.
ERIC / I REALLY ENJOY WATCHING YOU ON YOUR HUNTS,YOU ARE A VERY GOOD HARD WORKING HUNTER KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK,THE HOLE HUSH CREW ARE GREAT,YOU GUYS ARE ALL I WATCH OVER AND OVER THANKS
I'm 54 now & live in MT. I love all things outdoors, but grew up in north Idaho. All the times I hiked & hunted alone are special memories for me. Thanks for sharing them with this old man.
Filled my Nebraska archery tag last Sunday with my best whitetail ever. Purchased a second archery tag, I have until the year to fill. Stay warm and good luck, but don't set yourself on fire laying that close to the flames. You just got your teeth fixed!
I’m from Nevada, I’m from the ely area. I’ve spent the last forty years chasing or hunting elk. I love hunting deer but elk are my passion, I’ve never passed on a shed in my life. I never sold them until a few years ago, the pile of elk sheds were in my garage, they fell on my my wife car. I’ve watched your video for several years. I moved to utah several months ago, a way different state to hunt. A lot more people with a lot less country for the general hunt. That’s ok I like a challenge. I’ve always enjoyed your hunting ethics, now that I’ve moved to utah even more. Your enthusiasm for hunting is awesome, but your respect for the animal is obvious. Keep doing what your doing, one thing is for sure utah mountains are steep.
I understand the love of being there even if it is more survival than hunting. It's good to see someone else that really gets it. I've melted shoes and clothing too but that's part of the deal if your really on a mission.
Pretty cool video series here Eric. Love that you went in determined and fighting the cold to bag one. This is how I picture a back country hunt being like. This season has been very good to me. Took a mature Buck in Montana and another in Indiana and still have another Indiana tag. Stay safe!
Busy packing for last hunt of the year, late archery mule deer in Washington starts Thursday. I'm a solo elk and muley hunter, great to waych and enjoy your hunt.
Really you didn’t pack a spoon with everything else. Ha ha. I grew up in Idaho and was spoiled with big Muleys at a early age. Moved to Missouri two years ago from the West Coast and I’m learning how to hunt Whitetail’s. Whole different ball game. I love all of your Videos and how you tell the real story. Be blessed
My 12y/o son and I are both tagged out with whitetail in Indiana. He shot a stud this morning. I enjoy the solo backpack hunt. Looks like a great challenge.
I tagged out Texas whitetail. I missed out on my elk tags in my home state of Utah!! But scouting like crazy for next year already!! Love to solo. In reality I don’t have anyone to come with me. So solo is all I got! Lol. It’s so peaceful!
Our season is over here in Oregon. Was successful during deer season. Not so successful during elk season. Learned a little bit so looking forward to next year.
I thought it looked like you were getting a little close to that fire. Got the puffy jacket with it. Loved the solo hunt video, it was awesome. Hope you see a nice buck tomorrow. Take care, see ya :)
new subscriber.... my dads from Idaho, best times of my life, huntin Muleys w/ Dad... thanks fer videoin this, awesome job bro ^5s! Keep em coming!! :)
Pretty cool E! Can't wait to see how tomorrow goes. Chasing Whitetail here in Nebraska as soon as I get off shift in the morning for the rest of the week.
Our deer permit in Kentucky let’s you take up to 4 in most areas, I’ve filled 2 of the 4, one doe and a spike buck. I’m all about meat in the freezer, hoping to get two more does before archery season ends in mid-January.
Reminds me of my teen years in Colorado & S. Dakota Black Hills. That's the only way to do it unless you ride in on horseback. Thanks for the memories .
I love solo hunting. As far as tags go I filled my NM elk tag on an awesome bull. I killed a velvet muley in CO. Both tags were diy solo. In Feb I drew a NM ibex tag and TX Nilgai. Doing both DIY solo. It should be a blast!
Jeez Eric, what is this amature hour? Haha packing list should include mallet for tent stakes, utensils, maybe a tent heater, and keep stuff away from the fire. Good luck on the hunt.
I know exactly how you feel. I was not able to fill my rifle tag. But I do still have my archery tag for mule deer. Also dont know when your couse hunt is but if it is after the first of January we still have over 6000 javilina tags left over for after the first of the year here in Arizona. Good luck on the grey ghost
Mississippi whitetail and I'll be in arizona unit 22 I think January 3rd. Beautiful country where your at. Havent made it up there yet but maybe next year. Good luck
Dang Eric be careful with that fire. You're so well insulated you don't realize your clothes can melt or catch on fire. Good luck on your hunt. Here in Alabama I'll get to chase white tailed deer until February 10th.
My 2019 season is going great! had a couple hunts that didnt produce ,but i was able to make it happen in montana and shot a nice 4 by 4 yesterday ,now i just have an elk tag to fill nothing specail just general elk but hoping to get a big cow to fill the freezer even more !!!
i just had bear tags. no luck. hunted 4 weeks, new ground and i was holding out for a mature bear. only my second year, but its all diy. so when i do get one its gonna be SWEET!
I'll bet the pillow action has happened to alot of us and if you have a vacuum sealer you can use it to reseal the pillow not as good as new but it works
I have an Oregon Blacktail archery tag that I won’t get to use. Was in a car accident 4 weeks ago. How do you like that Nemo/Firstlite tent? Think it would be a good option for serious rain?
I got my first western big game animal this year (Mulie)... That's all. Considering going to Nebraska for a chance at an anterless deer tag if possible. Really would like to get some more meat in my freezer.
I was waiting for your sleeve to start melting. Looked like you were pretty close to the fire. Looking forward to the rest of the hunt. Wondering how your feet will make it through the night. Thanks for the videos.
Well I had 5 tags for NY. I filled 4 already. 2 during bow season. 2 during crossbow and I'm just waiting for the big guy during rifle! Can't afford to do much else!
Beautiful country out there. I hope to be able to get out that way sometime in my life. U should build a fire reflector to reflect the heat towards your tent. What kind of tent is that?
Sat in my tree stand while the local dirt bike club held a rally on the mountain all around me........ Let's just say I was unsuccessful and swore alot up in that tree
How do you like that argali knife? I had 2 buck tags in Ca. Filled both. Also had a ID bull tag. Filled it about 30minutes into opening morning. Watched him for 2 days on a different ridge, hiked into where he had been the night before and camped. Opening morning he was 1100 yards from my camp.
videos just don't show how straight down and steeeeeep things are and I'm glad to see you have a tent with a floor I don't understand all these folks useing tents that dont

@@keghinian could be I was watching without sound, regardless such a cool shot
Eric, that shot of you at the top drinking hot chocolate over the fire was awesome! Really was a bad to the bone moment. 💯
I love the coverage of a solo hunt like this. Such a contrast to the safari videos seen on the channel recently.
Days and nights like this makes it all worth it. Great vid!!!
This continues to be one of my favorite videos y'all have put out. I dead of backpack hunting alone being one with nature is something I'd love to do.

First season where I had two tags, a deer and cow elk. I didn’t harvest on either of them but a lot of lessons learned and memories made.

I was wondering how long after your pillow popped that your puffy was going to start melting laying that close to the fire
What’s the process for getting the permit to film on the national forest?
Tag soup for me. Broke my leg in July while scouting for elk so it was over before it began.
I had my 3rd hunt and killed my second buck. Does anyone have any recommendations for utah general season hunting areas?
Boil some water, put it in an empty Water bottle and take it with you into your sleeping bag. It helps allot.
