This outstanding episode of Combat, The Long Way Home, proves again that Combat is the best show ever. Notice that the enemy has the power and makes the rules, but the prisoners have the live free or die patriotic spirit that prevails, when in God we trust is reality, defining what a true American is, especially when that is all you have left.
I grew up watching this show and I still love it. My friends and I was about 7-8 years old and we played army almost every day in the summer time and winter.Brings back a lot of good times me we had way back then.i have collected over one hundred tapes with all the episodes and number on each box. Thanks for all the wonderful times we had.
Great TV Show. 2-Part Episodes were always good. Grew up with these shows as a Kid. Still good after 60 years or so. Less than 20 years after WW II. Thanks.
Season 2 épisodes 4 + 5. We finally see what could be a weakness in Sgt. Saunders character as quickly observed by Captain Steiner (Richard Basehart) his compassion. But the character being built by Vic Morrow shows again another trait: his tenacity and more importantly, his ingenuity. This is someone who for all intents and purposes has been beaten and yet, this "personnage" as portrayed by Vic Morrow will not, cannot admit defeat. Hurt, beaten up, whipped but not defeated. This gives his adversaries the false impression that he is defeated. His mind (of this very real character, the likes of whom some of you may have known) will seek stratégies to fight back when all seems lost. Given up for dead, as even Lieutenant Hanley accepts at one moment but it will not be so. Some fine acting from of course Richard Basehart but also from Simon Oakland. Oh and as mentioned elsewhere, this "character" is not necessarily a man. Man or Woman, this is a very strong character that you want on your side if you have the honour and privilège of meeting them. Merci pour le téléchargement.
great underated actor, who could have been hollywood great, but for his tragic early death -he had all the qualities, very believable, commanded your attention all the time on screen -but these little cameos are great tribute to him
Just saw Vic Morrow on an episode of Bonanza ("The Avenger") as a younger man. Fascinating to see how he has developed as an actor. Love our Vic! ua-cam.com/video/-16fH4Ni3Ow/v-deo.html
After every episode, I can only shout, COMBAT! but I don't have a bayonet symbol to use as the exclamation point. THE BEST TV WAR EPISODE EVER! Nothing to compare with it, not even some forty years later. L.A. Wood
Our war was fought by grocery clerks, college professors, paper boys, men from all walks of life who put their lives on hold to go off and fight the greatest menace the free world has ever known. We owe those grocery clerks and their brothers in arms a incredible debt.
You have failed, look around you our nation is no longer. Cops killing people and lying stealing. People who complain rather than stand up against the tyranny. FAILED BIG TIME !!!!
Very good movie.an academy award winner. Wish you chaps make movies of this calibre.woild u chaps make an emotional movie of the British royal family in the Iraq war
These guys were my heroes I watched this growing up here I am a female and imagined my self fighting beside them I ended up joining the army in medicai 91 pappa10 x-ray and also marrying a soldier later
This is the famous episode where around the 13:30 mark you can see 1963 California traffic driving by the lot and mistakenly not edited from this shoot by oversight. Pretty funny!!
Basic conceptual error on electricity: The fact that the clothes are wet or dry makes no difference. They are not touching anything so what does it matter wet/dry?
Richard Basehart es el capitán Alemán, pero también actuó en Viaje Al Fondo Del Mar como el Almirante Nelson, un gran actor. Esta serie fue muy vista en el Perú y toda latinoamérica.
German fancy and sacred SS-uniform is wrong. At least the place of Skull of Steiner's cap, and the shape of collar ranking- and SS-title. But such was OK, because of old TV-movie. Steiner's face is a good choice. Overall, American typical movie, this is. I liked this in my childhood. German soldiers are more impressive than American, including stout German language.
Drink to Friends my Ass! Saunders man made it out with a Dam Map. Maybe the German Captain was right the Germans were winning, and that's why help never came.

Ich schaue aus die Europäische Union, Litauen.

I think both Vic morrow and Rick Jason both died tragically and will always be remembered as iconic actors in COMBAT!
Combat has guests stars who gave depth to the series .Richard Basehart is a great actor.
both part 1 & 2 are excellent better than new ones Amen
Combat since the sixties.. Ok 👌 we grew up with it…
Great episodes
The great escape before the great escape

Wow.
GREAT episode with Richard Basehart, Simon Oakland, Jim Sikking (later on "Hill Street Blues"), and the rest of the squad.

U gotta say also,,, starring VIC MORROW
Our war was fought by grocery clerks, college professors, paper boys, men from all walks of life who put their lives on hold to go off and fight the greatest menace the free world has ever known. We owe those grocery clerks and their brothers in arms a incredible debt.
One which - sadly - was never repaid.

Did anyone see the car drive behind
The German guard pointing his rifle at Saunders at 13:26.
At 13:29 I think I saw a vehicle passed by in the background. LOL!
I think it was the delivery van that delivers the commandant's cognac!

did you see the car drive by? at the 13 28 point behind the German solider...
Basic conceptual error on electricity: The fact that the clothes are wet or dry makes no difference. They are not touching anything so what does it matter wet/dry?
Probably to justify hanging the wire. A clothesline, Voila, no suspicion.
I noticed a civilian vehicle behind the tree line when a German guard was asking Vic Morrow a question.

Hey Mona, how does a pretty young woman get to like all these old war movies. My kind of girl...lol

If you watch after they bury their dead soldier you will see cars in background on other side of fence .
LOL I saw that but it was when Saunders was up against the fence b4 the guard pushed him away.
Yes, precisely at 13:28 a vehicle that looks like a van passed by the temporary camp
More to the point if you are looking for criticisms...How did the captain know that it was Caj that hit the guard? Who told him?
yeah saw that and thought I was seeing things: lol

You didn't hear at the end when Hanley tells Saunders that the sector is "cleaned up"?
At 13:28 Watch behind the German Guard in the Bushes.......
