Great video! I'll be snow camping this winter with my Fj40 pulling a pop-up camper, so just a quick safety tip: I noticed your foot slipped a bit on the trailer while pushing the tent up. Adding grip tape to the top of the frame rails could help prevent slips. Looking forward to more videos!
Well done. thanks for posting. I should be able to do a similar test next week here in Montana, then around Dec-Jan do an extreme cold test with my heater. I'll let you know when I post it up. Again. well done!!!
I have a Propex furnace that works well and have switched over to electric cooking. Will pre make different burrito combinations then warm them up in an air fryer.
this fan worked great for me. could run all night and USB charge during the day. ordered from Amazon 20000mAh Battery Operated Fan, Portable Rechargeable Desk/Camping Fan with Light and Hook, 270° Pivot 4 Speeds Battery Powered Outdoor Fan for Tent Car Trip Sleep Hurricane Power Outages…
For a fan i use a skil fan. No problem running all night. Can also have a bigger or spare battery because it is removable and is shared with a Sawzall that I cut firewood with. I have the same issue with heat variations from high to low. The fan does a great job of correcting that.
Howdy Kerry -- Those are the Nitto Trail Grapplers, right? I'm close to buying tires..and noticed 1 year ago in a video you tossed those on. They seem to pack snow pretty well. Still happy with them after quite a bit of use?
I have just discovered your channel and enjoy your content. I also like going winter camping, very relaxing. My question to you is, if you have a soft top, how do you mount your Starlink?
Was that your original gears? Was that your original driveshaft? How many miles did you get? You were going to show us your star link install... We can't wait to see your next adventures!
No, those were Yukon 5:13 gears and a Front Range Driveline shaft. They probably had 40-50k miles on them. I will be posting a video over the weekend with all of the Starlink info.
Try Gila national forest and Silver City NM. Most of the Gila is closed for the winter but lots of areas still accessible. I don't think I would go anywhere south of I10 because of the border issues really and always be careful crossing main roads I've seen two head on collision or tbones with illegal drivers running from BP. Beautiful back country areas though.. pelloncillas chiracahuas Patagonia etc.. But I like silver City area better with mt baldy, mogollon ghost town, pinos altos, sapillo, turkey Creek and Gila Cliff dwellings..
Would really be interested to know the following: What drive shaft was that? How many miles? What gearset manufacturer? How many miles? Also what gear ratio?
@@TrailTraveler Thanks. I was thinking you had the small pinion. While not exactly a common issue, I've heard / seen this as a concern with 5:13's on the 44 axle, one of the reasons many opt for the 4.88 since the pinion gear is bigger than the 5:13. I went the 4.88 route (spicer gearset) with my JLUR on 38's (just turned 80k miles) since I don't tow often and live in moderate hill range of the Appalachian mountains so I see 8th gear regularly and still avg 15-16mpg. I appreciate the reply and information sharing.
Great little trip. Nice job on the video. I don't think many people know what it takes to put out a video like this, especially in the snow. What drone are you using?
There is nothing overly obvious about it that will show in pictures. At first, we thought we had to replace the main crossmember to work with the new arms. However, it turned out that my model was built during a transition phase so the new arms bolted right up to my existing crossmember, making for a pretty darned simple process.
The trailer brake is adjustable and I just turned down the setting to 2 in order to prevent the tires from locking up. I have Milestar Patagonia AT-Pros on the trailer and it did better than I had expected.
@@nutyprof On the high end, the LF Bros N2 Pro is the best unit tested so far. A step down in price, (along with not having a good assortment of accessories) is the Sunster Toolbox v2.
@TrailTraveler that's what I suspected would happen. I've Been struggling to get my Vevor started and keep running without throwing the low voltage code.

We switched to the Milestar Patagonia MT/02 in July. They have been performing great in all kinds of conditions.
@ great to know, thanks for the reply sir!

I see you answered this in the video, but never showed it. Please film a dedicated video on this install, thanks for this content. New sub!
I will be doing a complete video about it along with the power solutions we decided on.
Awesome

Great review. Who makes the fastback top?
That is a Bestop TrekTop

Roughly - Driveshaft: Front Range Driveline, 60,000 miles. Gears: Yukon 5:13 50,000 miles

I love the off season. Way less people out on the trails and i mean way way less.
EXACTLY!!!!
I use a claymore fan , super quiet, hols a charge for ever
Got a link to that?
Great little trip. Nice job on the video. I don't think many people know what it takes to put out a video like this, especially in the snow. What drone are you using?
I only used the DJI Mavic 3 on this trip. The Avata 2 requires that I wear the goggles, and flying with goggles and driving doesn't work well. ;)
Can you show the updated suspension? Was it a straight forward process to repair it with the parts from Tribe?

question.... How is it towing your trailer in the snow? Does the trailer brake make it difficult? do you feel like you need chains?
Cool video thank you!

Great video. How did the heater work on thermostat mode?
It completely shuts down the unit and then restarts it making for a massive power drain. I switched to regular power setting mode and it did great.
Thanks! What is your recommendation for a diesel heater
Which one would you recommend?

You didn't elaborate on how the temperature stayed. How much power it used. Etc.
That’s all going to be in a review video. I’ll say it worked great!
What brand is that diesel heater?
It’s an LF Bros N2 Pro. Full review coming soon.
Hey how much snow do you think bunce school has right now?
6-8”. Its just up the road from where I was
@ Awesome! did you happen to be at Pierson/johnny park? Or a different spot cause there are some others up there
I was in the Gordon Gulch area
