Evgeniy Maloletka & Vasilisa Stepanenko Accept the 2022 ICFJ Knight International Journalism Award

ICFJ Knight International Journalism Award winners Mstyslav Chernov, Evgeniy Maloletka and Vasilisa Stepanenk are Ukrainian journalists working for the Associated Press who produced striking visual evidence of the human suffering caused by Russia’s attack on the coastal town of Mariupol. Maloletka, a prize-winning photographer, said: “The tragedy of Mariupol will forever remain like a big scar on my body and my heart, but at the same time I feel that the work we did, documenting the horror of the war, will help the world to understand what happened in Ukraine.”
Mstyslav Chernov was unable to attend the ceremony.
