- It has been some time, due to my pregnancy nausea I have been not feeling well but finally we hit the 20wk mark and I'm doing better. So it was about time to visit this lovely family! It was so weird to visit them knowing Matadi isn't around anymore.
For those who are new to the channel, the silverback died in 2023 very sudden. The girls are too young to introduce a new silverback into the family so for now this will be the group.
Luckily for me it was a very peaceful visit. When it was time to eat the females weren't fighting over it. Though I've heard the females (Mayani and Amahoro are showing impressive behavior to one another). For now it was a lovely visit and I hope you'll enjoy seeing the girls!

The girls are becoming beautiful young females. So sad to see Matadi missing from the group. I’m sure they’ve adjusted, but it’s still hard.😢
How Matadi loved Thandie. It must have been so hard for all of them to adjust to life without him. It is so wonderful to see the girls thriving. I can’t believe how much Thandie has grown.

you're welcome! They're doing very well as you can see ;). But there's no say in who is the boss/highest in range at this moment. So that will be interesting. I was just very happy to see how easily they ate with no fighting. thanks for the lovely comment!

You're welcome! They've grown so much. I find it very cute to see how much Thandie looks like her mother and has the 'beard' of her mother and Vizazi has the facial expressions of her mother. But you can also see very well they're sisters. Lovely to see how Matadi will "live" in them
Awwww - they have grown so much❣ Vizazi is as pretty as ever and still has her little pink thumb. ❤ She looks very much like her Mama. Thandie seems to be happy and relaxed. Thank you so much for going all the way to Belgium to share this with us, Lieke. I'm so glad you're feeling better. 🥰
Oh how sad that Matadi is no longer with us. Thandie loved playing with her daddy when she was younger...I'm glad the girls seem to be adjusting well. I'm sure it was chaotic at first without their silverback to keep the peace. I cannot believe how much the girls have grown. They're absolutely beautiful. I love seeing Auntie A around the girls. She loved to play with too when the girls were babies. I hope they continue to do well. Thank you for the update.

I couldn't tell who was who, l think Thandie has some pigment missing on her thumb, it would be wonderful if they did a study on grief of primates. So glad you are feeling better. Thank you Lieke, it was a treat to see them again.🌷🌺
Vizazi is missing the pigmentation on her tumb ;). Thandie has a grey beard and soft look like ber mom ;). They did some studies on it. So they know it is very important the family gets a chance to see the body to say goodbye. But they're also very busy with whats next, so who is boss and how will it go with food, who will help me when there is trouble. And recently a university in Antwerp did a study on who is probably highest in range of the ladies. The answer is unclear though. Mambele doesn't seem to fight for a higher place in range but maybe she is already highest in range because her daughter Vizazi is the youngest of the group. The other two females show imspressive behavior to one another. Hope you can do something with the answer ;).
@@LiekesShotOfLife WoW, thank you for your explanation, I saw a doco on 2 black backs looking for their dad, 2 days later they found him deceased. Their grief was palpable. One stayed with him & cleaned him from maggots & insects. I really cried for them, this was in the wild. RIP Matadi, you won't be forgotten, your daughter's will live on in their memories of you. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions.🌷
@@sonjavandam1306thats the doco that got me hooked on gorillas ,il never 4get that scene,the 2 sons were soooo upset that theyre dad passed i nearly cried myself , the circle of life 👍
@@LiekesShotOfLifeAt the Dallas zoo,Megan lost her sister who just had her baby,then Megan lost her Silverback after she had her baby! It was up to Megan to care for her newborn and his sister with the help of another female not related. She started holding both ears for comfort. Even tho they have another Silverback who is great with the kids,I see her walking cupping both ears.🥲
These girls have gotten so big and look very healthy. The caretakers seem to be doing a wonderful job!
I remember seeing a video of toddler Thandie trying to carry infant Vi and Thandie wasn't very big herself 🤣

Fijn voor je dat je er eindelijk nog eens geraakt bent. Hopelijk vanaf nu alleen weer beter 🍀
Er was een medewerker met bladblazer in de weer, maar vooral de cola fles die hij had neergezet bij het glas van hun buitenverblijf was erg interessant haha. Dankje ❤️, was ook heel blij om er weer te zijn!
