HDR Exposure Bracketing Sunrise at Corfe Castle - Mike Browne [Photo Biker EP25]

- How to shoot a panoramic with exposure bracketing - and why? Cameras and eyes see light differently and a panoramic HDR photo merge is a great way to capture detail in super bright highlights and deep shadow which our eyes can see but the camera cannot.

Anyone who’s ridden a motorcycle will know the commitment this man takes 👍🏻well done and thank you Mike .
Thank you @simon40607 - apprieciate that buddy ... MB🙏😊
My word yes!!!!!!! Mine wouldn't want to get out the drive if it was too chilly a morning . . . .like me, prefers a warmer slower start. Hahahaha.
Shows what great pictures one can (try to) get by dragging ones behind out of bed early in the morning. Thanks again for your efforts and instruction. Nice overview/intro to bracketing and Lightroom 👍
The early bird and all that!
You know it’s a good evening when Mike drops a photo biker vid 😊 🙏🏻
Thanks Scott ... MB😎
@@MikeBrowne Hey Mike, do you always shoot your HDR panoramas handheld or do you get a tripod and rotate it on an axis so it's more precise? or do you not need a tripod since lightroom can overlap the pictures anyway?
Kept meaning to come back and watch this video, glad that I did tonight, very excellent view.
Thank you Ian 🙏
Ah! Found you again, after 8 years, I've got some catching up to do. Thanks Mike, I know I'm going to enjoy it, love your style 🙂
8 years... just a bit 😂😂😂
Clouds where popping and the sky alive with colour. Stunning capture of Corfe Castle, Mike.
Thanks @Bubble ... have you checked out the others in the gallery? MB🙏😊

Oh how I wish I’d thought to do this recently, had a stunning coastal sunrise but the corner was blown out where sun was. Thank you for this excellent tutorial, stay safe out there on the bike.
Thank you Laurel.. I'm nothing if I'm not careful!
Thank you. I'm still enjoying the biker series and I learn something new every time.
Glad you like them Joe... and thanks ... MB🙏😊
That sunrise at the beginning of the video was beautiful. The photos are amazing and I enjoyed the post production lightroom tips too! Thanks for sharing again.
Thanks Darlene. Glad you enjoyed it... MB🙏😊
Having tried bracketing before and probably, lazily left it behind, I,m inspired to give it another go, thanks to you Mike, though my health might not let me get up at 5.30 and walk up a hill, but i,m sure there's a time and a place I can manage somewhere.
I like to think where there's a will there's a way Graham 💪
Great work Mike, always a SUPER LEARNING EXPERIENCE with you, thanks a lot and take care.
Thanks, you too Tanweer... MB🙏😊
Thanks Mike - really useful as always (and wonderful images). Tried bracketing using burst mode in my local wood this evening. It’s so easy!
Great!
Always a wonderful learning experience sir. Really appreciate. Take care. Keep teaching us. 👍
Thank you Dr Nimish ... MB🙏😊

Glad you like them @4CEYLON - thanks 🙏. Be great to have yu along on one of my motorcycle tours for photo-bikers.... Link below if you'd like to take a look... MB

@@MikeBrowne Thank you Mike, live in los Angeles. If you visit LA, let me know.
Superb as always ! Thank you Mike 😊
Thanks Chris. Glad you enjoyed it ... MB🙏😊
Excellent video Mike, love the whole thing.
Thank you Lisa - I'm glad it's hitting the spot.
Another great presentation. Have learnt so much from you Mike 📷
Thanks Iain. Glad you enjoyed it... MB🙏😊
I love to bracket a lot of my shots-- LR makes it so simple-- Good Video Mike
Thanks Michael. I remeber trying to photo merge between negs hand printing in a dark room! Gimme Lightroom any day... ... MB🙏😁
What I've always liked and admired about you Mike, is that you care very deeply about your fellow human beings. It's not just about the photography. I'd love to actually meet you in person one day! 😊😊
You never know Ash - maybe one day!
if the sky looks in real life like it did in the video, you had a great contrasty fun interesting sky..Sure the sun is a bit bright, but it makes for some nice clouds,shadows,etc..i love that look..Some nice shots Mike
Thanks.. The sun in the Gopro video was closer to reality than anything the fuji captured (amazing how they do that), but was still different to my eye.... MB🙏😊
Absolutely beautiful Mike thank you so much for your tips and advice!
Thanks Samuel...... MB🙏😊
Mike, a great video which explains HDR and demonstrates it extremely well. Thank you.
Good to hear Peter - thank you 🙏
Loving your videos Mike! I’ve been there a couple times, late to my sunrise session😅
Thanks Mei. I'll do another one and get there a bit earlier sometime in next few weeks... ... MB🙏😊
Another great video!!!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏😊
Great great stuff, thanks so much!!
Thanks Lisa... MB🙏😊
Great vid! Lightroom really has come on leaps and bounds. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Mike 😊
Thank you Matt ☺️
Excellent video , Mike ! Always look forward to them. I haven’t tried any PP work yet , & they say patience is a virtue, in my case except in computers. Read a lot about Martin Paar , so he’s my out , for now. I will try post production .
Thanks @Wilf S 👍 Computers are awkward beasts - and a miracle at the same time. Martin Parr had to do it by hand in the darkroom (as did I when I started. Had another go last week in Clickasnap's new darkrooms - and I'd never go back TBH... MB
Very informative 🙏🏻
Thank you Juan - glad it helps.
Stunning video Mike. Fuji cameras are very good for taking bracket pictures handheld. Greetz from Frank ( Alstamarisphotography)
Thanks - Yes I think they are too... MB🙏😊
Yeah another fantastic tutorial and there is no doubt that you know what your talking about and have a great way of delivering the information. DG New Forest
Thanks David ... MB🙏😊
Excellent video Mike! Very inspiring how you shared your experiences well explained with us. Greetings Daniel
Much appreciated Daniel. 🙏
Cheers for that Mike. I’ve been scared to use the bracket function on my camera lol but I’m going to practice practice practice now. Thanks for that 🙏🙏
It really makes a big difference doing it in the situation Mike was shooting 😊
You can do it Winston. Go play and have fun... ... MB🙏😊
Really liked the HDR pano shot, personally (as an enthusiastic amateur) I wouldn't have been confident with hand held, I'd have been grabbing for a tripod!
Thanks Bob. If you have gridlines displayed in the viewfinder and take care witj composition it's pretty easy. Give it a go next time you're out...🙏😊
brill video mike that's y I like my Lumix g9 I can bracket ,focus stack and its all done in camera merged for you automatically makes easy life for these situations, you would think by now that canon ,Nikon, sony would adapt some of these Lumix and Olympus features..
Thank you. You're right, although they may - I don't have time to keep up with all the latest releases...!
Fantastic locations. I need to get on google maps to scope places out.
... MB🙏😊
Thanks
Thank you for the apprieciation @Chris Kerrey .. MB 🙏😊
Wow - I had no idea the HDR merge was so easy. I've just avoided doing much in the post processing space cos the software seems to be something that would require some time to get to know and to work it to the way it can be helpful. I might need to look into this sometime . . . . . . (I am one of those shoot it as a jpeg and get it right in camera people . . .. .maybe some slight adjustments with the ordinary apple photo programme.).
Never stop learning Denise 😊
Gorgeous results with the final images, I love how you brought back the colors in the sky. I really need to try HDR myself. I've been meaning to try your Lightroom course but wondered if you might be updating it to cover a newer version (not sure how old it is).
Thanks @diane elizabeth. The lightroom course I have is quite old now and though LR has more tools now, the interface, file management workflow and method of developing remain the same. I won't be making another software based course because no sooner has it been released and the software changes... My bad 🙄... MB
I'm moving to Corfe Castle in a couple of weeks.....reckon I'll be giving this a lash....or 2....or 3!
Hey @Angie J - been a while. You can get 'Big Dog' to pull you up the hill... MB 😁
@@MikeBrowne I feel certain he'll happily oblige! 😊🐾
Excellent video as always Mike. Quick question, which metering mode were you using?
Thanks. I always use evaluative / matrix mode for a starting point and then adjust using the histogram to ensure the tones I want are captured how I want them... ...MB🙏😊
Hi there Mike, great video as always. Can I ask where your focus point was in these. I have had a go at this type of bracketing but not sure if I focus on the sky or the ground. I was doing a cave shot looking out, wasn’t sure should I have focused out to the bright area beyond or the walls of the cave. Sadly the shots I took were not very good. Looking forward to giving it another go with a different scene.
Thanks @Gailleon. For this shot it doesn't matter where the focus is because everything is beyond infinity and therefore sharp at all apertures regardless of where the focus is. For the cave scenario you mention, I recommend doing test shots, at different focus points and apertures. You can bang them out pretty quickly and enlarge on camera to see which point of focu and aperture get maximum focus. If none do, then you'd need to focus stak the shots and merge in post. Hope that helped... MB
PS: If you're confused by where to focus and other related camera control stuff, enrol in my Masterclass course. It'll clear all confusion for less than the cost of dinner for 2... www.photographycourses.biz/masterclass
Mike that was as usual, absolutely brilliant!!
Sadly I have Lightroom Mobile (for iPad) is there a way to HDR merge using Lightroom mobile?
Thanks
Phil
Thank you @Photography By Phil. I'm sorry I've never used LR mobile so can't help you with this one... ... MB🙏😊
With the rolling hill mid pic. It gives a kind of fish-eye effect to enhance the whole picture.
Does a bit eh... ... MB🙏😊
thanks mike great shots wish i could work in light room like hat but im scared ill ruin my images
I have a course that could help you? www.photographycourses.biz/courses/7stpp-wfm
I much prefer the composition off more to the right.
I keep changing my mind... Look forward to going back again. I'm determined to get more mist in that valley... ... MB🙏😊
