Thank you Osmund and Julia. I so love Ghandharan art. My favourite are the heads. Exquisite. Great to hear a lot of history, culture and world events during this time too. Julia what a beautiful way you host and convey your extensive knowledge. Very illuminating back and forth with Osmund’s extensive knowledge.

The commentator around the minute 19 to 20 mark says that the Buddha was born in Kaplivastu, which is not correct. He was born in Lumbini. He grew up in Kapilvastu.

Strange because it's so well known and documented that he was born in Lumbini, Nepal ?

Kaniska was a buddhist, 10:35 is this person a scholar! Kanishka was definitely a buddhist. There is literally image of buddha on his coin and this person saying he thinks Kanishka was not a buddhist. What an.........t!
There is also a statue of Kanishka wearing a minks robe under which his name is etched.

    Gandhara of Pakistan ❤️🇵🇰
Their descendants are 4 million pluss Pakistanis today. It pains greatly to see Pakistani heritage artifacts in Western museums 😢

I understand your point, but in reality it is only a small minority of Pakistanis who have an interest in such things, but even now in the more remote regions mullahs are urging the local populations to destroy what remains in those places. For example many of the rock carvings in Swat and beyond have only recently been defaced and destroyed - here in the USA and on UA-cam at least all the World can enjoy and appreciate them. There is a glimmer of hope however, the Government of Pakistan is beginning to see the value of what it refers to as 'tourism pilgrimages' by foreign Buddhists, Hindus and Sikhs and so perhaps there is hope for the preservation of what is left in situ.

an amazing exhibition and I'm glad to see it virtually. Wish Julia could just speak freely instead of reading from a script. There's something stilted in her presentation, like she wasn't confident enough.
