Well done! John was so awesome on rhythm guitar: one of the best ever…and one that everyone looked to to learn and copy at the time and still do today. He admitted that he was a confident and above average rhythm player. He played consistent and sometimes complex parts whilst singing at the same time. He made it look easy and cool. Working with Ringo’s beats, they both set a superb background for George to solo over and for he and Paul and George to sing along with. I enjoyed this. It highlights his youthful energy. Cheers.
THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL. It is refreshing to see a young person appreciate this back bone of true rock n' roll. John Lennon played this part and I think you've nailed it !
This is great. You perfectly captured the amphetamine, frenetic strumming technique as well as the low action muffled tone that had almost zero sustain. Seriously, great job.
I especially enjoy early Beatles material because it's done with only 2 guitars, bass, drums and voice. Both guitars had to be very creative to come up with something that was really special. Just like John, this is my favorite Beatles period and the guitar work is outstanding..
The middle eight part, stretching the pinky to hammer down, that’s always hard for me. You did a great job there and there rest of this video. Excellent!!!
I have past the point of caring what a guitar looks like and just care about the feel under my fingers of the neck but the exception is those Ricks. If i could afford one Id have one because they remind me of The Beatles at their happiest hard rocking best.Thank you for this gem.
I've subscribed. Looking forward to more of your choices, By not picking over complex songs your making this music fun to learn and accessible. This is the stuff that makes the weekend jams with friends doable... Keep it up
You've got that E string thud along with your thumb over the top of the neck right on the 5th fret sounding like a bass drum before the chord very John. For me John's style goes back to the very early days with no drummer. I can remember Pauls comment on the anthology series about people asking where's your drummer .Paul told them that the beats in the guitars.
@@simonworman7898 John had it all from the triplets on All My Loving to the driving barre chord rhythm on the likes of rock and roll music or roll over Beethoven
Excellent rendition of a very fun song to play. Great job! But...as you know we must do...may I pick a *tiny* little nit? During George's solo (right at about 1:42 in you video), John does "something else". I'm not a "real" guitarist so I cannot say what it is, but he does not strum those chords all the way through. If you listen closely, you can hear his guitar going, Da-Da-Da-Da-Di-Da-Da-Da, or something similar. The Beatles were great...so inventive, and the proof of that is that here all this time later we are still scrutinizing and re--creating their music. And you did a damn fine job ;)
Really good cover this is a really great rocker by the Beatles from 1963 it’s one of my favourite early Beatles song a great early Paul McCartney rocker
Excellent job! It highlights both your chops and the inventiveness of John Lennon. It's hard to describe the impact of the Beatles when they first burst onto the scene. I was in the 7th grade when "Meet the Beatles" was released. My copy, which I still have, is a first pressing (no publisher info on the label). I was taking Cotillion (dance and etiquette lessons) then and we would often dance the Swing to "I Saw Her Standing There". Thank you for being interested in music that came before your time and keep up the good work!
I think this is the best rock and roll song and record ever written and performed outside of the US. Paul’s bass and vocals are fantastic and John’s rhythm guitar was one of the (many) things that set the Beatles apart from other bands. I personally would have liked a more driving, Chuck Berry style guitar solo - I think George was probably still a bit lacking in confidence in those days - and I always thought it merited a better studio drummer than Ringo just flailing away at the hi hat like that. One of the Beatles best ever tracks.
Finally…the song being played correctly…there are absolutely no “C” chords played on this song…awesome job and you even had the Am7 during the solo..well done!
@@mikec3777 I did, and it’s definitely the wrong chord. The correct chord as played by the Beatles is Am7…Nowadays everyone including Paul’s band play the C..which is incorrect
J L was original and for the kids of class 63,/64 he was modern,, We worked out he was hammering away on that bottom+ but it was hard to imitate on a Watkins Rapier.
That was nice bro, thank you, what rig set up you are using to get that sound?....lovely Ricky by the way, on my wish list but don't tell my wife, she thinks 6 guitars are enough....strange woman 😀

Great comment
Yeah, great comment. Cheers.
No he wasn't. He had to keep looking down while he played he was always stiff and didn't flow like the others
@@MartinJHenebury what? Of course he was. You posted a video looking down as you played and you said this about him. Lol.
Agreed. He was vastly underrated.
John Lennon is a good example of how it can be really fun to play rhythm guitar
That's insane ... only someone who had no idea what they were doing could have come up with a rhythm guitar style like that. ... genius
Maybe that's the trick ain't it
I've been playing this for nearly 60 years.......... but I learnt something today!
Thanks, great job, I'll be hammering that sixth string from now on.
THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL. It is refreshing to see a young person appreciate this back bone of true rock n' roll. John Lennon played this part and I think you've nailed it !
Lennon's rhythm guitar defined rock and roll.
Excellent guitar work on a beautiful guitar. Well done, friend!
this is great. i never would've guessed john played the E string like that.
Well played and such an outstanding instrument!
Love that song and thanks for this video enjoy that guitar.

Fascinating! Mentally layering the bass line under this and you start to understand how they got that unrelentingly driving rhythm. 👍🏻

Isn't it a C chord for the "oooh"? That's the way I always played it - although now I think, I also recall seeing somewhere it was a inverted C.
