My aunt, Eleanor Ileen Shuman, survived. She was roughly 2 years old at the time. The story of kids playing with chunks of the iceberg on deck was actually Eleanor's mom and a cabin mate. She survived long enough to see James Cameron's Titanic 3 times before passing away the follow March after it's premiere. I remember spending long afternoons of my youth sitting with her and listening to the stories of her life. She was a dear aunt.
