    Why the hell would I want to purchase an Electric Van for 35k+ that is inferior to its diesel counterpart at half the cost for a 3 year old 🤷‍♂️

    • @deltaechomusicnh555
      @deltaechomusicnh555 3 дні тому +2

      How is it inferior? It's clearly superior in everyday than an engine vehicle.

    • @padlockgaming5566
      @padlockgaming5566 3 дні тому +7

      @deltaechomusicnh555 Well it would need charging regularly due to miles and weight I carry. Charging takes time and as a self employed craftsman, time is money. Lack of infrastructure to actually charge the vehicle, dont require a charging station to be installed in my property.
      Even with the increases in roadtax and low emissions zones, it still wouldnt come anywhere near the extra £15,000+ price difference in the available diesel options. Even if they could offset the purchase price difference, the roadtax and low emission zones fees are all tax deductible.
      So until they can get the batteries to offer the same range as diesel and the infrastructure to charge them at a speed similar to refuelling they will always be inferior in my opinion

    Luton is an extremely hard working plant with a dedicated workforce who always deliver under difficult conditions. They are not militant and there are good Management and Union relations. There are no industrial disputes. I work there, so I know. The disappointment and worry for ordinary people is heartbreaking.

    So we cannot manufacture ICE vehicles in the UK, but we can import them without issue. This will happen now with boiler manufacturers in the UK where they can only make a small percentage of gas boilers relative to heat pumps. These net-zero regulations are going to tank the economy and cost regular people their jobs and purchasing power.

Here in the US the distances we often will drive (the US is less than 30% land-mass-inhabited) means the infrastructure to recharge electric cars and trucks is insanely large. I see Teslas here in the big cities, but the rest of the nation is waiting, and I don't blame them.

    Stellantis are moving ice production to France...excellent move because the British government can't fine them £15000 per van because they dont make any in the UK... in the news papers today Stellantis also say that importing a van into europe also costs because of Brexit.... not looking good, Jaguar, Nissan, all kicking off

    As with us in the US, perhaps it's time for our friends in the UK to seriously consider whether it is good for their national security and well-being to give up both control and production of vehicles to foreigners. The French used to really protect their auto industry and I wonder whether they still do.

      The uk has a lot more problems than cars! The uk imports 80% of its food requirements and the French don't protect their car industry anymore, it's against EU rules

      @daveyboiyeah the reason we have turmoil in the auto industry is governments didnt ban ice cars quick enough, should of ban the complete selling of them new or 2nd from 2030, force the public in to ev, if people can't afford ev great less cars on the road, sure this might cause a drop.in gov revenue but this could easily be sorted by cuts to services like welfare and health care,
