Lack of infrastructure to actually charge the vehicle, dont require a charging station to be installed in my property. Even with the increases in roadtax and low emissions zones, it still wouldnt come anywhere near the extra £15,000+ price difference in the available diesel options. Even if they could offset the purchase price difference, the roadtax and low emission zones fees are all tax deductible. So until they can get the batteries to offer the same range as diesel and the infrastructure to charge them at a speed similar to refuelling they will always be inferior in my opinion
Luton is an extremely hard working plant with a dedicated workforce who always deliver under difficult conditions. They are not militant and there are good Management and Union relations. There are no industrial disputes. I work there, so I know. The disappointment and worry for ordinary people is heartbreaking.
