There is a time and place for everything. My guess is: If you make this and teach a 4 or 5 year old how to perform it, they will it proudly show it off to everyone they know. So yes, it is a good trick.
When I have flip thing over which can happen a lot in magic I like using misdirection that can be tricky to learn but once you have mastered that this trick will be a lot better if your learning misdirection siding one hole over is still not to bad a trick to do because learning is the key practice makes for perfect don't give up just do it again!
Hi Don. I enjoy your home magic gadgits😊 Where do you purchase your 2mm cards from please? I live in Si Mahaphot, Pratchinburi where I've yet to find a hobby shop. Any help would be grateful. Thanks from Jimmy
I would present the trick in a different way, because turning it around is too obvious. I would lead the cord back through the middle hole, thereby leading the two holes the cord runs through to the other end and can then be led back again. Without the obvious turning around the gimmick thing
Turning it around isn't strictly necessary, but the reflective tape could be done on both sides and use a really flat black for the color. That would increase the contrast on the gimmicked side enough that a quick flip would reveal only what you want.
Always look forward to your builds,
Always entertaining! Don never disappoints.

Good job, Don. It isn't the greatest fooler in the world, but it may catch a few people out.
