There was ALOT of trial and error... For my standard 5lb loafs I have found that if I do a 2.5 lb recipe that I get the perfect amount of frosting. For my cupcakes I do the same amount of base to frosting. If I make a 1lb of soap for the base then I do a 1lb of soap for the frosting. I really hope this makes sense! It took me a while to get used to piping and get my technique down. Once you get that down I think it's easier to know how to scale for the frosting. I hope this helps. - Melissa
