Yes…I went straight to the courthouse…may husband watched me mail in my last ballot waaayyyy ahead of the suggested date…I got a letter a month afterwards saying it arrived late! I am checking my voter status every week until the election. I am going to hand deliver it to the main office, even if I have to dig through a blizzard!
Central Montanan here, and a republican until everything went nuts in 2016. So appreciate this interview! Thanks for providing a platform for our best hope against the current regime. So exasperated with them making up rules as they go along, or just plain ignoring the law when it doesn't suit them. Voting for you, Ryan Busse!!!
I assumed that you were talking about the current Republican regime and that you plan to vote Democratic this time around trying to get rid of trumpism? If so I thank you for realizing what a danger Donald Trump and his sycophants are to the democracy and our Democratic Republic
This seems like so many new blue voters story. I too voted red until 2012. I no longer trusted the candidates, then 2016 happened and I really backed away. I actually felt guilty changing my voter registration party...but so grateful I did.
Thank you for performing this interview DD and Mr. Busse. I didn't know much about the people of Montana, but you have been very clear about your viewpoint and how your constituents feel and view our country and their place in it. My full support to you and your fellow Montanans (? is that right?)
@Ryan Busse, Thank you for your courageous heart (a quote from President Biden's address at the DNC last night). I lived in Montana as a child. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the USA. Thank you for your leadership and conservation of this beautiful land.
Montana is magical and it does make you a better person. A steward of the land and respect of others privacy is very important in Montana. Montana needs better and can do better. This is beyond party lines. It is doing the right thing.
Great video. I really appreciate his thoughtfulness on all the issue. He reminds me of a friend of mine who left the GOP because the party left him. He would say, "The first word in 'conservative' is 'conserve'! They don't conserve anything, trees, resources, money, or people."
The idea of an "inactive" voter should be a footnote, not a disqualification. Once registered, no one should be removed without proof of disqualifcation. We should be innocent until proven guilty not the other way around. If I skip some elections that should not stop me from having a voice when I want to express it. What happened to FREEDOM? Why am I not free to chose?
When I grew up in Montana it was solid Blue. The move to Red was so disappointing for me, even after moving to bright Red Idaho. I would back this man as Governor if I had the chance.
I just donated to his campaign and I have also donated to DD. It takes money to make changes. Everyone can afford a few dollars if a person like myself who lives on Social Security can. I live North Dakota and I donate to other states.
I was born and raised in Montana. I don’t live there now but I have nostalgia for my younger life. I won’t move back, anytime soon, because of the Republicans and their anti environmental policies, their lack of respect for workers and their out of state money grabbers who want to ruin the pristine beautiful country I lived in and make it harder for everyday Montanans to live in the state. I hope you Win your fight and I hope Jon Tessler maintains his senate seat.
John Tester represents his constituents admirably, even when it puts him at odds with his own party leadership. The man is Montanan through and through.
@@nicolebraida7900 Yup. It's shocking how many working people in this country vote against their own best interests. If you are poor or working class and vote Red - or worse, MAGA - you are willfully contributing to your own destruction. As for me, I'm MANA. Make America Normal Again. Just. Vote. Blue.
I believe we are in the midst of minority rule. The small number of decision makers at SCOTUS, in Congress, in Governor positions are not representative of the majority. Remember the Senate has each state represented by just two people! So states like California with millions of citizens have the same representation states like as Idaho with a much smaller population. How can that be fair representation?
I would encourage anyone who can make it to one of Busse/Graybill campaign events to come to one. They have been traveling the state talking to voters. They encourage questions & of course donations are very helpful. They want to help us take our state back from out of state big money interests that the GOP keeps imposing on us: we need to elect these guys & the entire slate of Dem candidates to balance local govt & hold Jon Tester’s seat as a MOC!
@@harperwelch5147he claimed he was for years. Used to support the Clinton’s.imagine. He said if I ever run it will be Republican because they have the dumbest sack of voters. True.
We don't have compulsory voting in the US. We can choose not to vote for any reason or no reason at all. Not voting shouldn't disqualify anyone legally entitled to vote (US citizen, of age, et al) from being removed from voter rolls.
Gianforte is the worst governor ever! Montana has always done best when it’s a divide government…it was stable and had to be debated and compromised through cooperation.
He’s the real deal! I have known Ryan since his book, Gunfight was published. It is about his exit from the gun industry. He was an expert witness for the Giffords on gun reform. And he has been harassed by Rs & 2A guys ever since. He has great support here in MT. We really need to make our current gov a 1 term gov!
His story is absolutely fascinating. You should research him. You'll really see a man coming to reality and recognize that his original party is now extremely dangerous.
Please refine and polish your message, Mr. Busse. Tell exactly what belief/action you had that Republicans attacked. Don’t fear note cards with your top three talking points. Make sure these three points are succinctly crafted. Thus, start with: I will work to ensure every Montanan can vote, then give the example of the challenges of our Tribal Nation members.
Hm, this has just made me wonder in how many US states it's legal to openly carry guns. (I don't live in the US but I haven't seen a lot of UA-cam videos or TV shows where that's shown, so I'm guessing there must be restrictions in many places.)
A good point is that a line was crossed…now many conservatives that actually have a libertarian streak, have had it with the authoritarian oligarchy! It’s been interesting to watch and it’s pretty interesting that many of these people are NOT loud and given to public display. I am beginning to think they just might provide a REAL surprise as the quietly exercise their individual autonomy in the voting booth! Hahaha…some of their neighbors will never know how they voted!
Our mail system was more reliable in 1824 then it is now, two hundred years later. A post card is not good enough for legal purposes or at least it should not be. If they want this method, then require at least registered mail with return receipt.
Oh sure. A man whose morality goes to the highest bidder gets a position of leadership? There are better people. I'm glad he is finally doing the right thing. But ANYONE who was never a Republican is wiser, because they never made that critical life error. Its not that hard of a concept.
A progressive Democrat has zero chance of winning the gubernatorial seat in deep red Montana. A moderate who believes in democracy is the best possible chance.
I prefer to say he is thinking critically and logically, not sides. I wish we could abandon the sides mentality and remove party politics from our country, and instead rely on rational, problem-solving discourse.
Maybe in a perfect world however we do need to know how our candidates ideas align. The parties help with that. Ryan has a good knack of communicating with republicans too because many of our problems are aligned. No one likes high property taxes, violating our constitutional right to privacy, erosion of freedoms, or voter suppression. Rural voters want their public schools & public lands protected. Our current gov is a far right ChristoNationalist who thinks we shouldn’t need social sec & has lowered taxes for Corp while raising them on individuals. He needs to go!
Like he said he doesn't care about the sides and is considering what is best, rather than worrying about party lines. I think we might all follow his lead.
What part of “loud & proud democrat did you not understand? He said it’s been 30 yrs since he converted from R… And that works for me! I moved to independent in 2015 & fully D since. You can see the light tomorrow & it’s ok with us! We are interested in anyone who supports democracy!
