And I naively thought that having demons as neighbors and suffering noise violence was something common only in Brazil. Foolish mistake. Illusion.
The civilized world should have already created anti-noise laws for teaching in schools and applied them without tolerance. Prevent the production of powerful home or vehicle sound systems with volumes limited to 1/3 of the current volume. And removal of the device if there is a recurrence. This would easily and quickly resolve this issue. Noise violence kills the victim and sometimes the original attacker. For me, noise pollution and violence are terrorism and torture. It deserves equivalent law and penalty. I have suffered from this for two decades and I will never be the same again. I became misanthropic, as well as anxious, irritable and depressed. Panic Syndrome. Social phobia. The biological consequences caused by these mediocre and unhappy beings may be suffered by me, but they have extended negative effects on society as a whole in the medium and long term.

I've been there, i used to live under these 2 guys who lived above me in a 70s built wood floor apartment. Needless to say, it was a cracking, stomping nightmare. Since moving out of there i now live in a top floor apartment. Which makes me empathetic to my downstairs neighbor. I change my walking style (from heel step outside to fox trot inside), I wear headphones and don't play anything out of my TV or speakers most of the time. When I accidentally drop things i say out loud "sorry downstairs neighbor" under my breath 😂 I honestly don't know how people can be so inconsiderate when they know they live in semi communal living! It's common sense to me.

Yes I went crazy and going to sue my landlord for not removing these loud neighbors. It was constant loud music, all day dogs barking, screaming throughout my building to each other, hanging out in stairwells playing music on their phones and talking loud my our windows. And while all that was going on me and my family were being harassed by a severe narcissist. I had a nervous breakdown so bad that it affected my family severely. And 7 months ago after 18 years of sobriety my parents relapsed once and died. My non immediate family and friends don’t understand why I’m calling my landlord, these ppl and my ex murderers. They are the reason my parents are dead they stressed them so bad it lead to their deaths. I want justice so bad but I don’t know how to get it and I’m now clinically insane. I started a petition against my landlord for not removing the disturbance and restoring peace and quiet under the peace and quiet ordinance act. Finally he evicted both apts causing the torture one a few months ago the others a few weeks ago. But the damage is done I’m all messed up and my family paid the price with their lives I want justice.

Guy not on lease moved in. Yells talks loud, I asked him to stop their daughter from playing by our common wall. They stopped for 4 days and came back with a vengeance. I am alone here. I've dealt with these issues after 13 years of apt living. I've learned the first step should always be to talk face to face. Bring pepper spray or a friend if you need. This works about 75% of the time. People are tough until confronted. If they continue, again face to face. If it continues, consult management. Also, call police. Keep a record. If it continues, I would just find a way to move. It's not worth our mental health.

    • @prettybaby80
      @prettybaby80 Рік тому +15

Wouldn’t advise face to face. You don’t confront people who act this way. This is a job for management if you care for your safety. In neighborhoods I’ve live with you’ll catch a bullet or a punch knocking on someone’s door to complain about their noise. You don’t know the mental state of your neighbors. People have gotten killed approaching their neighbors. It’s either the cops or management anonymously

    • @wordivore
      @wordivore Рік тому +8

I have seen a lot of that, "Have you tried talking to them?" kinda BS. If they were reasonable people in the first fkn place, they wouldn't be blasting music 24/7. And they wouldn't retaliate making things worse, once they know it bothers someone, they'd apologize. If someone is blasting music 24/7, then they aren't sleeping or they're turning it on and leaving to sleep elsewhere. That is NOT a sign of a stable person. In my experience that ahole neighbor makes excuses, pretends to be sorry then turns up the music even louder after you leave or tells you to fk off. Then when you call someone who could actually do something about it, they KNOW it was you! Yeah, no thanks. Also just a side note, when you call the cops for this narcissistic behavior, the cops have to hear it/witness it or they can't do sh!t.

I’ve done everything you’ve mentioned from notifying management, keeping documentation, ignoring it, calling the police, reaching out to corporate, I even consulted with a lawyer out of desperation on ways that I could terminate the lease. It’s truly an unhealthy situation to live in. It can take a toll on your mental health, and in turn, your physical health. My lease will soon be over, so at this point, I’m just counting down the days until relief. Is there anyone that you might be able to live with until your lease is up? It sucks having to pay for a place you don’t live at, but if that is an option for you, I think that would be your best bet at preserving your health. Stress is dangerous. Renting was definitely an experience.
    * First complex was in the hood. Shots fired outside every night loud enough to make the windows ding like a snare drum. Less than a year after I moved out of there the whole place got flooded when a river overflowed.
    * Second complex was much better. But, maybe a year after moving in the upstairs neighbors moved out and forgot to disconnect the main water line to their washing machine that they owned, so they snapped the main line in the wall and caused my apartment to get flooded, although it wasn't bad enough to move to a new apartment after dehumidifiers dried the carpets out.
    * Same apartment, new neighbors: They were a Shakespearean tragedy translated into pidgin English. Loud stomping & fighting basically every day. Vacuuming & bass music at night until past 3am even on weeknights. Myself and the other tenants below talked with them about the sound and it would temporarily be reduced, and then get right back to loud. Eventually I started grabbing my 100 watt guitar amp and wailing some metal riffs whenever the noise upstairs got bad enough. Those neighbors eventually started fighting so loudly and destructively that you could tell the apartment was getting trashed from outside, messed up window blinds & front porch etc. Ultimately the mother & daughter had an epic meltdown fight where they were apparently throwing things and screaming loud enough for the rest of the complex to hear them, climaxing with the police showing up and them getting kicked out for violations of the lease.

I am noise sensitive and have a hearing disorder called misophonia where certain noises like repetitive tapping, make me want to hurt someone. I was told by management “no one hears it but you” and “it’s an apartment and that’s just how it is." I listen to white noise or music with earbuds. I have other ways to play white noise but only earbuds will totally stop it. People are so rude. They don’t care. I hope you can find some peace and quiet. I'm really sorry to hear that you suffer from misophonia. That is the downside of apartment living, everyone will bound to make noise, especially in apartments where the walls and floors are not properly insulated. Coming from me as an upstairs neighbor, i live below an old couple who also are very sensitive to noise. Even with rugs and panels Its a nightmare for me to know that everytime I drop something on the floor, or walk to the bathroom at night that there are people downstairs waiting their chance to complain to management about me. I received a noise complaint letter recently because I made too much noise at 3PM. I was installing my unit AC.
However What lily is going through is simply inexcusable as nobody needs to be blasting very loud music 24/7. These type of tenants is what I think would fit into the nuisance category.

I’m grieving over the death of my wife and unfortunately my neighbours have decided to play loud music all day. I can hear this clearly in my living room even with the TV on.
I talked to my neighbour and he became aggressive telling me to mind my own business.
Later I posted a note through his door explaining how his music was effecting my health. He immediately ran round and started kicking and hammering on my doors and windows. I called the police and they gave him a warning.
He is now abusive towards me in the street, I cannot reason with him, all I want is for the music to be turned down.
What can I do? I cannot afford to move and love the bungalow I rent.

I am so sorry for your loss and that you are going through this. I would keep calling the police, especially if he is aggressive towards you. It sounds like harassment at this point. He will get what he deserves eventually.

In my freshman year of college, my roommates blasted music every day and I tried to ask them politely to turn it down and it would work at first but then they just kept doing it. They had heavy bass speakers in their room and had people over all the time. They'd play music 24/7 and even go to sleep with it on. I remember I started going into their room while they were sleeping to turn down the volume on their speakers and then they started locking the door.
Crazy thing is, they dropped out because they failed their classes and I was the only one to graduate from that university. I was lucky to have a relative who lived 25 minutes from the dorm, but I don't think I should have had to sleep at a relatives house rather than a place I am paying money to live at, and I don't think you should have to either. I'm sorry you've had to go through all this.

Wow that is so disrespectful of your roommates. College roommates can be the worst and just plain immature! It’s our space just as much as theirs. I feel the same way, I feel awful having to crash with friends and family even though I’m still paying for my apartment. I have a feeling these people will drop out too unless they can study with music blasting. Thank you for sharing, glad to know I’m not just being dramatic.

When my neighbor moved, I saw his speakers which were close to five or six feet high (I saw the boxes they were originally packed in). He used to constantly play loud music which I ignored. But he heard a sound in my apartment and flew into a rage slamming the wall which frightened my cat. This type is very vengeful.

My neighbors had large speakers as well. I saw one sitting on top of it once. There is no reason to have a six foot speaker in an apartment.

I had this problem in 2019 I kept getting jacked around. Management learnt what backfire & a perfect deck of cards meant called a holiday weekend. They tortured me so after 6 months I tortured them being an electric guitar player. A payback 2-12 Cab. Everyone learnt they better shut up finding out I had a 200 decibel system. They kept me from sleeping and management ignored my complaint. So they all reaped what they sowed and THEY DIDN'T LIKE IT. I moved to. Power Chord treatment Bass Treatment Airplane Treatment. Everyone Shut up.

I've been dealing with noisy neighbors since Dec 2021 and have complained for tomany times to even count. Management BARELY responds, and even I tried to be nice about it, but theyd only us it to their advantage and make it worse. When i confronted them for the 2nd time, they rlly had the nerve to fire back "How is it our problem? We have big feet" or something like that.
An apartment is a rented space, but for many its a home away from home. Its infsir for thousands of good ppl to hsve to love alongside distasteful and disrespectful people. I hope you find solace, as thus is something I can't bare. I doubt that management will do anything, as by the end of the day, they only care about what goes into their revenue and pockets rather than the ppl they "serve." Besides, even if you move out, they'll always find other ppl.

The lack of care from management everywhere is so disheartening to me. They’re providing a living space , shouldn’t they care about the quality of it? I’ve learned you can’t make management care . It’s awful.

I have a similar experience when it comes to rude upstairs neighbors and cold, heartless landlords. I tried to be civil, told my upstairs neighbors of the problem which made them be louder, after 3 written warnings from the landlord and the noise not stopping, I took the legal advice route against my landlord and won my case that the neighbors were too loud. The problem here is that the Arbiter cannot issue a eviction to this outcome, only the landlord. In response to my case, the landlord spit in my face and gave them a 4th warning instead of a deserved eviction. All that money and time on a legal case were all for nothing. How likely will these sociopathic neighbors listen a 4th time if they didn't listen 3 times already? So the noise continued, I gave them multiple letters and video evidence and received rude responses back in return gaslighting me telling me the noise was not loud. I asked the management was the Arbiter at my legal case wrong then? I waited months for that answer and never received it. The message was the upstairs neighbors are untouchable and they didn't care how much I was suffering from the noise.
I read other neighbors suffering from loud neighbors and the reactions from management was the same: a gaslighting and cold response towards the victim and a baffling defense towards rude, loud neighbors. I read that landlords don't want to evict because it costs a lot of money. Requesting a transfer or moving out are the only answer. The bad guys won.
Now I do petty things to get back at them because being civilized didn't work and expose the landlord as jerks on ratemylandlord.com.

I found complaining just makes things worse. I've never had to complain about neighbors till recently and it's a mind numbing experience. Most systems in place these days focus on giving rights to the offenders, and try shutting up the accusers. Sometimes the only therapy left for us is to hear there are others dealing with the same thing, which is how I came across your video.
I live in a building where we all hear each other to an extend. Sounds are one thing, never had an issue with it. But straight up rumbling, banging and intense thuds are something else completely.
The woman who owns the unit above me moved out but didn't want to get rid of the place and still needed storage for her things. So as a favor to a friend (thinking it's her boyfriend/husband's brother, but don't know for sure)... she's helping out this scrawny, tattoo covered, crackhead looking loser by letting him stay up there till "he gets back on his feet".
He acts likes he owns the place and even moved in his new girlfriend with her kid... earning him more visitations from his own kid as well having a babysitter sitting around up there all day now. An addition the owner had no clue about and pissed her off a bit when finding out. But again buddy gets a pass. At least another neighbor made some traction and got his dog that barked all hours of the day/night the boot.
It's like a damned circus up there, and he's turned it into a joke ever since I brought it to light with management. Owner refuses to call him a tenant so management's beating around the bush as they don't know how to technically deal with him while avoiding a bunch of red tape. Apparently being a guest overstaying his welcome (or a squatter) makes it harder to lay down the wrath of management on him than if he actually owned the unit. And since the owner isn't the one actually doing it and they don't have a signed tenant agreeing to said rules, I'm at his mercy.
Not only do I deal with the original problem, but over hear the most asinine and childish remarks coming from him when my windows are open and he's coming/going to/from his truck (the lot's right under my window). None are said directly to me... just about me. I probably have about 100lbs on the guy and have wanted to introduce him to the taste of pavement soo many times now, but don't want to screw my life up in the process. So frustrating forcing yourself to be the adult in a situation.
I found out with a lot of things over the years, the one's who follow the rules get punished the worst. Makes me wonder, why bother? This is why we have people like that in this world! 🤬

Wow that is crazy. My apartment at least has rules out guests and their behavior. Sounds like he is basically untouchable until they figure out what kind of leverage they have over him. He should be kicked out just like a normal owner.

Absolutely it makes it worse to try to "talk it out". Reasonable people don't blast bassy music in the middle of the night. In my situation, after having lived in apartments for decades and even living under a drummer (we worked it out so they knew when I wasn't home) - I was advised by my POS landlord to try to "talk it out" with the domestic dispute having, booming speakers in the bedroom playing till 3am bogans that lived under me. Sure buddy, I super want to be their latest assault victim because I already know I'm not dealing with reasonable people; I hear their insanity through the floor.
