This movie is such a treasure!! I can’t believe it didn’t blow up as much as it deserved!
I enjoyed UTSL from the getgo. It's such a trip to watch and David Robert Mitchell really flexed his muscles here as a true visionary director. I enjoyed learning a lot about underground Hollywood cults and the weird things that famous celebrities can get wrapped up in. That book of codes was ingenious (i.e. the Hobo symbol for example). And Andrew Garfield finding a secret map inside a cereal box which he overlapped on a page from a Nintendo Power magazine.
You can really lose yourself in the fun of solving new puzzles and finding deeper layers and intentions to the characters with this film. One of my favorite A24 films as well.
I hope they work together again in future movies.
This is an extremely difficult movie to advertise to a mass audience, but that just makes it all the more special for those who are fortunate enough to discover it themselves :D
100%
Found this few years ago in the 5$ bin at Walmart. So glad I picked it up
It's so sad that this movie got the short end of the stick, it deserves much more attention then it has gotten. There's also a lot of people giving the movie a bad rep for being "pretentious" mind you this is coming from people who doesn't want to think outside the box and really dissect movies but still have the audacity to use the word pretentious, just because you don't fully understand the movie (which is fine, i suggest you watch this video ua-cam.com/video/hrNpFze64CU/v-deo.html) does not make it pretentious... meaningless does not equal pretentious.
i think this will get an audience and cult following sooner or later. donnie darko (which i didn't enjoy as much) ddn't make any money when it was released. i hope this will grow. i really loved the movie.

@@retinarental1603 excuse me?
Decades later this movie is going to be appreciated it's way too ahead of the curve for now.
This film is enjoyable , fun , smart, brilliant. Just require you not be a fluoride stare NPC normie.
Felt like the Big Lebowski mixed with the lobster!
The lobster is such a great comparison actually. Thank you! This has such a similar analogy around relationships which so many people aren't talking about, they just keep talking about the "Hollywood" thing.
@@pyramidacid In what way exactly, the movie is about a lot of men who see women as objects but i don't see how that's a similar analogy to The Lobster
I think more The Big Lebowski mixed with Inherent Vice mixed with Punch-Drunk Love mixed with Thomas Pynchon's "V. "
Lol besties wearing matching outfits
shame they didn't get to do a larger press tour 😢
why did it was that short
Andrew and the host were so obviously frustrated with Davids mic holding skills, they even tried holding their own mics towards David when he was talking 15:40 lol.. Even after David was talking about "clean audio recording" Andrew tried to give him a hint by pushing Davids hand to stop him holding the head of the mic 21:12 , David swaps hands to the right grip... then just puts it right back
Interview was probably great shame the sound effects were as disturbing as the film - perhaps on purpose.
Disturbing? Ok . It's the greatest movie ever made imo
I love this movie, very relatable to people like me who live in LA.
Andrew reminds me of Hayden Christensen and vice versa
Where is David Mitchell these days? Why no more movies from him?
It was actually announced a couple of days ago that he's directing a film with Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway for Warner Bros.
Leisure Suit Larry?
when this movie will be showing?
It is a 2018 movie.
which movie did he mention at 7:08?
KISS ME DEADLY
