I am a Volvo guy but couple of years ago after temporary relocation to Florida I bought a 2013 FF Hybrid with 170k miles on their odo. Intending to use for a year and get rid of it. So, it’s still with me and shares a garage with my new Volvo. And the best part of the story is, I am now in Europe. Shipped this Fusion down to here. This is simply the best car I ever had. When recently traveling across Europe I picked the Ford, not my shiny turbocharged Swede.

I use my 2013 fusion hybrid for Uber full time and I am a Ford apologist now lmao. I agree with all the things you nitpick on. However, I am amazed that after 194k miles driving in 100 degree Texas heat with the AC on full blast I am averaging 41.4. and that's mostly highway at 70-75mph. Hard to beat that in a midsize sedan. And that's not hypermiling either. I don't dog my car but don't baby it either. It just returns great mpgs and is so reliable. I'm going to keep it as long as I can.

About a month ago I purchased a low mileage (21K miles) 2020 Fusion SE Hybrid. Your review echos my feelings about this car! Overall, I LOVE IT❤ I owned a 1992 Taurus SHO for 18 years, and although this Fusion doesn't compare well performance wise, every other feature completely dominates! This car's a keeper!😊

Thanks for asking... I've taken my Fusion Hybrid on two 800+ mile trips since ownership, and am quite pleased with all but one aspect of it: refuelling is an issue. No matter how far or shallow I insert the nozzle, it doesn't seem to want to stay unattended. Other than that inconvenience, I'm still in the honeymoon phase of having it. Still achieving 40± MPG, and comfortable!

Family member of mine got a new Fusion every year as a company car for the past ~6 years or so (up until they announced they were cancelling it and her company switched to GM for fleet business). I've driven pretty much every configuration of the 2013+ fusion and the hybrid is fantastic.
I agree with you on the chassis stiffness, it was immediately noticeable every time I drove one, and it was surprisingly competent on backroads. I always felt the interior was a little tight compared to the Accord/Camry, but still competent overall. They were all very reliable for the period of time that she had them (mind you she drives ~75k miles a year for business). The 1.5 and 1.6 didn't impress me and with mixed reliability reports... I'd be wary of one as a used car. The 2.0T and 2.7T are great fun and it's a pretty competent sports sedan, the base 2.5 was fine as well, didn't really have any complaints with it. The Hybrid though, now that is a bargain if you can find one at a decent price IMHO. Great economy, Ford's hybrid system is incredibly robust (pretty much an identical design to the Prius), comparable overall power to the base 2.5 but with more low end torque, and the economy numbers are hard to argue with on a commuter. If you can give up the sportiness of the 2.0T or 2.7T and want a great commuter to put miles on, the Hybrid is a great choice

Have a 2016 Fusion with 180,000 miles ... the head gasket blew and Ford service bulletin recommends replacing the engine!! It's the 2.0L Turbo motor .. IMO, I would NOT recommend getting that motor. That said, I'm going to look this week at trading it in for a Fusion Hybrid.

You were spot on at 19:01 as I've learned to dock my head when getting into my 2019 Ford Fusion Titanium. It was an annoyance at first but it's now second nature. I love my round gear shifter though. That was also an adjustment as I was used to resting my wrist on a traditional lever. Great video BTW.

I ordered my 2017 Fusion Hybrid on Black Friday of 2016 because nobody in Oklahoma had one with the spec I wanted on a lot. It finally got delivered in March of 2017 and I have been in Heaven ever since. The gear selector circle is easy to get used to and the visibility is great. This car was my gift to myself after a divorce since I had been sloshing around in a 1992 full size Dodge pickup acquired from a city auction. The only item I have had to have worked on was the sunroof would not park in place and it was simply from dirty tracks. I can run without A/C and get 45+ MPG in town. I share your opinion that Ford should have continued to build this car even if it was the only sedan besides the Mustang in their lineup. Fun fact, I still have one of the original wiper blades on the car from the factory still sweeping clean and clear after all this time! The other side I just replaced.

You are absolutely right about this car and I agree with you about the too low roofline and the too high armrest of the door, but I also hate the short footrest. I think that car is probably better for a very short person who likes to drive close to the steering wheel.

After driving a Crown Vic for years, our outfit went with the Fusion Hybrid Pursuit model. It was very dependable, so after I retired, I bought one. Traded in my 11 year old Nissan Leaf. I have only put 1050 miles on it, but I am averaging 79 mpg!

Morning! I expected I'd see you here for this one! I've seen a couple of your videos drag racing your car.... I *almost* mentioned it in the video but decided it didn't really fit in with the theme. I like the Fusion far more than the Camry, but not as much as the Accord, and it's a chronically underappreciated car.

A former coworker (now retired) has that generation hybrid model and he swears by it. The only issue he ever had with it was that it would sometimes cut off at highway speed, whereupon he would have to come to a complete stop and restart the vehicle. Supposedly, it was fixed by a software update, but I have not caught up with him to find out if that actually solved the problem. Most of my "Better Dead Than GM" friends who finally replaced their old Tauruses got Fusions and love them dearly.

When I’m shopping for a vehicle I get in and out 10 times in a row, that’s the best way to judge how comfortable a car will be. I do that because I’ve had both hips replaced and sedans are my choice of automobile, SUV’s are the most uncomfortable things on four wheels ever since my surgeries.

I can’t get my feet up and trying to get in gave me the sensation of falling but yet again that’s entirely me and how I feel. my brother has the same hip problems I do and he has a 2005 Ford F-150 and he can’t get in it. Thanks for the answer. This is what I've found in the internet concerning the check engine light : "The emissions/exhaust system is the most likely culprit for many check engine lights being illuminated. There could be an exhaust leak or a problem with the catalytic converter. The mass airflow sensor (MAF) is another sensor that is easily tripped or can fail."

Ford has decided to stop making cars/sedans for America which I think is a big mistake. The Fusion had competed with the Camry & Accord. Sedans are not going extinct and Toyota/Honda nor the other foreign automakers are discontinuing making sedans. Like GM & Chrysler, Ford makes less profit on sedans which is why they chose to discontinue them and focus on SUVs/crossovers.

When Trump was in office it was only $29 to fill up tank. I drive like crazy and after 3,000 miles per month and the car has not giving me any problems. Somehow I have some sort of disconnect with Jon, if I was an engineer at Ford in the early oughts , how the heck am I supposed please a customer who thinks the early eighties Regal/Grand Prix/Monte Carlo was "A pretty solid entry" in the rear drive, dying midsize coup' car category? Who was even in that market by that point? With pillow top seats and more right angles than a advanced pre-college geometry class?
Somehow Ford pulled it off With a solid but not quite a "Camry" level model? Don't get me wrong, the last gen Fusion hit peak Ford "it's pretty damn good" era
Still want me a first gen Sport with the 3.5l N/A power train, despite the stupid expensive tires...
Jon just seems to be all over the place, some love for "terrible". (my words, not his) GM products in the eighties. To love for some mediocre Chrysler products, "Soft cars for soft people" Straight burn by Motorweek, no doubt in my mind. But mostly true?,

Thanks for the comment Steve. I know... I can't really explain it except cars occupy a few different 'Eras' in my mind. While cars like the Regal and Cutlass Supreme of the early 80s had plenty of buyers, and I love those square Chryslers, I think there's two things at play.
First is romanticising the cars of my formatitive years. These were the cars when I was a pre-teen up, and my Regal with it's pillow-top seats was a great cruiser. Heavy, Slow, and GM-quality... but a memorable car.
Second would be, who doesn't love the underdog! As one comment pointed out in my latest reaction video regarding the Chrysler/Dodge luxo-twins - for the price of a base Dodge you could have had a Civic. Completely different markets, but you know the civic will handle better and be reliable. I'd love to drive most 80's (or early 90's) cars again, but not own one. :)
Ultimately, I love boxy, sometimes unreliable, sometimes weird cars... at least from the past.
In more modern cars it is about how much I like the car to today's standards. I love the Fusion, I only respect the Camry for example. Of course, I also love the Fiat 500.
Hey, I have opinions, I do try to be consisitent, but there's different Eras and cars I don't love eventually become the "old" cars I reminisce about!
