I am not a busker, I am an artist attempting to pose in public as a statue and fool everyone.
    Frequently asked questions:
II live in Arizona and perform in the beautiful city of Scottsdale. Nicknamed the West's most Western town, Old town Scottsdale is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. The art and architecture recreate the ambiance of the old west. Which is why I chose a cowboy as my character! I blend right in.
Needless to say, Arizona is a desert and the weather makes it too hot to perform most of the year. December to April are the only months when I might have a chance to perform on weekends.
    This is my Social experiment
I am an artist and this is my interpretation of interactive art.
Attempting to pose in public as a bronze statue is a challenge. The last thing I want is to appear like a person who thinks they look like a statue. I've seen 'living statues before and I wasn't fooled and I think I can't be fooled. In fact, I'll bet whoever is reading this doesn't think they could be fooled either.
That is what everyone in my videos said before meeting me.
I don't hand out business cards or promote UA-cam while performing. It only invites conversation which I avoid for the sake of the next opportunity which I wouldn't want to spoil.
I first tried this just to see if it was even possible.
THIS IS NOT A 'PRANK" Scaring people is not my intention. I am not out to invade people's 'space', shout or yell 'boo!' at people who are minding their own business. (unless I am bored) I prefer to be called amazing, not #$#&!!. Many more people pass by oblivious, to my presence.
I just sit and mind my own business. I believe using this unique approach is why I am welcomed and supported by the city.
    Have I ever upset anyone?
I have never had a negative reaction, well once.
I've never been intentionally hit, or been bitten by a dog. No heart attacks. Using my approach, I am not to blame if someone mistakes me for a statue. It's not my fault.
Besides, everyone is too busy laughing.
I make a one in a million moment possible and who the lucky person is totally at random.
Timing is not up to me most of the time. Most people touch me as they sit and realize something is up before the right time. Each person is different and I try to wait for the right time to reveal myself. Sometimes they get away before I make my move.
I am sorry for the quality of the video. Filming was an after thought and my lack of experience shows. Also, the way I concealed my camera interfered with the sound and picture. I have spent money on a new camera and it was problematic and ultimately stopped functioning.. I have used an old Canon that has never failed me. I can sacrifice the quality if it means confidence that I'm capturing the moment with a camera that is reliable.
My costume is just old clothes and A LOT of paint. Metallic Bronze paint. Nothing special. For make up I use black eyeliner for a base and metallic creme makeup. I create texture using a small screen.
It takes under an hour to be ready to go. Removing the makeup using soap and water is what takes hours.
    Finally, SUBSCRIBE it's free!
I need everyone to share my videos with friends and family and share using all social media sites to help me spread the laughter.
    to thank you...
I'll have a NEW video every Saturday morning
    until January 2020 (or longer?)

Your patience with the children speaks volumes about your character. They don’t get the illusion and tend to overdo it. Many performers would get frustrated and quickly relocate. I hope these parents appreciate your tolerance. It’s very difficult to be a statue when the kids keep trying to make you react.

Bronze Cowboy a friend to children and when the national anthem is being sung right in the middle of his acting the part he has chosen he stands in salute honoring our country in far more than one way! I just wish we had far more like you.

There I was concentrating on being motionless, a statue and then like a Siren's song I could hear our Anthem... pulling me back to reality pulling me to my feet... I might be a statue, but I am an American first... My father, my brother all my Uncles, Grandparents and Great Grandparent's were either Navy or Marines, my Uncle Bruce McCandless was an astronaut. CAP COM for Apollo 11, two shuttle missions and the first man to fly untethered in space. I have two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients in my family as well. That flag means more to me than anything, it gave me freedom to do whatever I want in my life and that include making others laugh! I love that Red White and Blue! God Bless the USA!

When you stood for the American anthem it gave me chills.
In a time when so many think it is cool to disrespect the flag, the pledge of allegiance and our anthem.
For you to show respect and honor reveals that not only are you a caring man, but a true American.
I've been a fan of yours for a long time.
I commented to you a while back and still have your replies.
I would love to one day meet you.
But now, and I didn't think it was possible, I have even more repect for you and feel that I am even a bigger fan.
Thank you for all you do.

    Excellent work, Cowboy! Three thoughts:
    1) Thank you for your patience and gentleness with children.
    2) Thank you for standing for our national anthem. That is important.
    3) Your display of core strength is impressive. The lean and hold at 2:47 was quite a feat, especially while wearing a heavy costume.
Thanks again for all the fun and laughs. Keep on bronzin’!

Here in my country, government has regulated that national anthem should be played in every cinema hall before every show and people will stand up to respect that. Before the song is played in the hall, message comes on the screen to make people aware of that.

Growing up as a 12 to 15-year-old in the country of Panama, I remember the American television channel was called the Southern Command Network and they would begin and end the day's broadcast by playing the national anthem. I don't ever recall the national anthem playing in theaters when I was growing up as a kid.

@@user-sm1qq1op8j thanks for letting me know that. This rule has been enforced for 2 years or so.

I imagine if the government tried that here, it would get met with some resistance. It would just be another venue for people to protest whatever social issues they feel need to be addressed. I wouldn't mind standing for the national anthem. I just know there will always be non-supporters wherever there are supporters in this respect.

@@user-sm1qq1op8j you are right on that. No matter whatever decision is taken, some people will always protest. But for greater good of the people, sometimes harsh and strong decisions are made and enforced. It is just as no matter how good you are, you will always be a bad guy in someone's story.

I am guessing this footage was filmed quite some time ago, as I was very surprised to see people wearing coats/long-sleeved shirts.

I have been saving this one... some may have thought it was boring... not many surprises. I was holding it for the 4th of July... because of the Anthem lost it, then found it in time for the 50th of the Apollo 11 !
