She is super cute and looks like she is not too much (but understandably, at night, everything becomes too much and yet they don’t want to sleep. We call this: being crotchety. I think it explains exactly what it feels like. A bit like hangry = hungry and becoming angry with it. No real food on this long journey would have made me hangry). 😳😬
I agree! My past perception of Russia doesn't match what I'm seeing on UA-cam. Makes me wonder what's behind the negative propaganda that tends to linger in America. Russian people are more like us than they are different.
@@houndlover870 as an American who lived in Russia for a year, I will say this. First, the people are some of the nicest you’ll meet. They don’t smile at each other in the fake American way, but when you talk to them you’ll find their kindness. They have very little but will literally give you everything they have. Most are not fond of their government but have come to accept they don’t have much say in the matter. Americans could really learn from them on how to live life while accepting their government is shit. There is a lot of corruption in Russia at all levels but at least their honest and upfront about it unlike we are. At the end of the day though, we have more in common as people then what separates us as countries
Same with Iran and I’m sure very many other tea drinking cultures! I love them and we have some from over 150 years ago in my stepdads family. They are so special to me 💕🧿
As a mother of seven and grandmother of nine I know about little kid's energy drainage. Travelling is also an adventure for them, which makes it always more difficult to get them ready for sleep. But, as you experienced, they truly are tired and just don't know how to settle in adventurous times. My tip: I got a specific blanket for each child, while they were babies, with a specific pattern and had them sleep on it every night (or day). This way it was easy to take it along while traveling or staying over at friends house. Just the sight of the familiar blanket would signal them "bedtime" and "home". Another trick would be if kids are used to sleep in their stroller...
Your lack of train food reminded me of one Christmas when I was younger. My grandparents lived in Ohio in the USA and I live just outside of NYC. We were driving home after christmas one year and we got stuck in a blizzard. The snow was so bad we could hardly see the salt truck in front of us. We followed the truck off the road to a hotel where we spent the night. We had not planned on stopping so we didn't really have food. Thank goodness we had gone for mexican food the night before and my parents took the leftovers home. We had leftover mexican food and snacks from the vending machine for dinner. Sometimes you just make do with what you have even if you planned ahead. Sounds like you got some food in the end. :D

Agatha is adorable and I’m sure she helped to distract everyone from the long journey. Travelling with a toddler is always challenging. I remember doing it with my girls when they were younger. I live in Australia but was born in Scotland and before the pandemic e used to go to the UK and Europe at least once a year. You reminded me of an overnight train trip to Warsaw we did a few years ago. We assumed there would be a food car or cafe on the train but didn’t check. It made for a very hungry evening but fortunately we arrived early the next morning. It wasn’t too bad for us but would be dreadful with a toddler so I’m glad you found something to eat.
This is my favorite video so far. I love learning about Russia. I wish that more countries had reliable passenger train options. I've travelled extensively with toddlers, it's a little stressful but also a lot of fun. Agatha seems like such a joy. Congratulations on moving back to your warmer city with your beautiful family.
I am from NY and had travelled by train in Ukraine for 18 hours from Kiev to Odessa. It was so fun! I loved it and I slept so well. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
That's typical of small children. Any disruption to their normal routine and they don't want to go to bed. It was interesting to find out about the different types of train as we don't have open sleeping compartments here in the uk and I'm glad you finally made it home. 😁👍❤

Agatha when she got her present and was all excited was sooooo sweet 😍😍♥️♥️♥️. I re-watched it a few times and it actually brought tears to my eyes. That childhood innocence is so touching 😥.

You manage to paint not just a wonderful picture of your own lovely family, but also of Russia. Thank you for giving us this window into your world. Best wishes from Ireland.
Wow, you guys are brave, taking a 29-hour train ride with a toddler! At least you were doing it together. I guess there was just no other way around it for you to decide to take the train like that. But it was interesting to see how things are alike and different in the types of trains. I haven't yet traveled one cross country in the US to have a comparison, and I don't know if any of ours would take 29 hrs. I'm glad they had the snacks for sale and you had the station stop to get food beyond your travel and toddler snacks. The noodles look like a generous portion, and cooked easily with the boiler water, so that was good. The cups were very pretty. I knew that Russian tea is served that way, but didn't know they provided them for public travel, instead of the disposable cups with lids we offer in the US. It was nice that Agatha is so social and made a friend to break up the mom and dad only play time, and that the conductor offered her a children's travel gift package. I'm sure that boosted her mood and yours, as well. I know Russia to be agricultural, so seeing the crops growing was nice. Thank you for pointing out the blind walking paths. I had no idea Russia accommodated the disabled in this way, it's a very good thing. Do they also offer seeing eye dogs for the blind people? SO glad you arrived safely at your new apartment home. Looking forward to the next video. Binge watching t catch up. lol I've missed you.

I remember (from long train travels as a child) seeing russians in pyjamas walking around train stations. My family used tea glasses too. Much simpler and cheaper ones... Thank you for sharing.
I’m a BIG fan of train travel and it was so fun to go along on your trip with you! Agatha is the cutest little thing and I’m glad she made friends along the way. Glad you arrived safely and we’re all excited to see your new city and home! 😀😀😀
I just got home after 2 trains. Omg, I would never take them again. It’s so hard to fall asleep there. And even when I was out of the train, I could feel like I still was there. My brain or my body, I don’t know, felt like that.
This video brought back memories of train travel with my children in eastern Canada 50 years ago. I can feel your fatigue but you and your husband are still smiling. Love all your videos!
In Turkey, you can call a restaurant in the arriving city to order kebab to the station even if the train doesn't stay at the station long. You can quickly take your order and pay. Im so glad to see you came very close to my country.
I love trains! I've done an overnight train a couple of times and I really enjoyed it. One time it was between Moscow and St Petersburg when I visited Russia. I'd like to do a longer train journey like this one day.
@@Natashanjka - You think so? I feel just the opposite. The train movement and the click click of the tracks. I find is soothing. Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend!
@@Gracielooks The automobile industry and their lobbyists killed off trains and other mass transit that competited with cars. I'm 71 and remember traveling around the US in the 1950s and 60s in trains.
There are still 30 different train routes in the US…i think they are still running, not sure. One of these is a cross country train. I took a train from NY to Montreal, great and relaxing.
Love to watch your vlogs. Mother is really beautiful, Agatha is so cute and dad of the family is handsome. Lovely family. I have a pair similar tea cups. Bought 1990 when I traveled from Helsinki to Moscow. I love Russia. Perhaps I have a slavian soul and that's why I love it.
I was on a Russian train once from Bucharest Romania to Sofia Bulgaria. It was very similar. I had own compartment and I didn't know where to find the hot water for tea! No one spoke English and they kept checking my American passport all through the night. It's nice to see you all having a good trip. Agatha is having fun.
The open conception compartment will be such fun for school kids going to vacation camps. Train looks all together very nice. I love trains in general, yes it’s much slower transportation but with the right company it’s quite fun.
Agatha traveled very well for a toddler. The train looks pretty comfortable. I traveled with my 3 year old from New York to Miami, Florida on an Amtrak train. We could not afford a "sleeping berth", so had only our seats for 27 hours. Fortunately, we could get up and walk to the cafe car. We even had to pay to use a blanket. I must say that the Russian language is very beautiful. I wish I could speak it. Have you ever thought of giving simple "How to speak Russian" videos?
I have been looking for cups like that for coffee. None in the U.S. That is a long trip with a child. Like the 2 bed compartment. Alway happy to see a new video.
I would call it "cupholder" or glasholder :) Russian train traveling is very nostalgic 💖 🌹 something that stays with you for your life, the rhythmic "tonk tonk" of the trail is very soothing. And yes the scenery is always very beautiful ❤️ thank you for sharing 💗
Thanks for taking us along. My children always had trouble falling asleep in strange places no matter how tired they were. I really enjoy seeing Russian life.
I used to take the train often as a child with my mom and sister to visit our grandparents. It took about 6 hours to get from coastal New England to Pennsylvania. It was like airplane seating but facing each other!
@@sharonmarie91 My grandparents moved to Florida from New York when I was 7. My mom decided to take the train. 1974. They had bingo and activities to keep you busy. I won an Amtrak mug. I was sooooo excited. It was the first time I won anything. I also caught chicken pox on that train, which turned a two week trip into a month. Those were the days, being waited on hand and foot by my mom and grandma.
Your videos are very interesting . And I just cannot believe who well your daughter enjoyed the long journey. My 3 year won't even step on a bus or a train. Always Hysterical. Agatha looks like my daughter , but with Curly hair and blue eyes. Takes after her Russian mother.. Look forward to your next videos. . Lovely family u have.
I lived in Russia for a year in 2005. I took that train from Rostov-on-Don to Moscow. It was early January so very cold and lots of snow. But it was a great experience especially since we don’t really have those in the States anymore
Thank you for bringing us along on your Journey ! Wow ! You made it! Agatha is such a sweet and charming girl. And you two are marvelous , loving parents ! You make a great Team and you have a beautiful Family ! I’m new to your channel ... just found you two or three days ago. My son and daughter are grown ( older than You and Your Husband !). Thank you so much for Sharing your journey! I'm a Railroad Conductor in America, and am very interested in your train travel! Thank you and your family for sharing your trip!!
Brings back memories of backpacking in Europe and splurging on a sleeper car. I suppose we would call the cup holder a cup holder! And those unhealthy but tasty noodles Ramen noodles. What a lovely family you are. Watching Agatha makes me nostalgic for my now grown daughter. Welcome home.
Your videos always makes me smile and nostalgic, reminds me of my home in russia. You have a way of showing the beauty of russia and russian people, thankyou and have fun in the new city! 😊
I've seen this in another video from bald and bankrupt, and I really admire and love how Russians like to keep everything clean and tidy in their trains at every single moment (which is not the case in Greece, not even close to that), I can do nothing but give a huge credit for that attention on details and stuff!!

Thanks for sharing your train ride. Agatha is very cute. When I was a child in the early 1960’s we took a train from central Saskatchewan west bound to Vancouver British Columbia. It went up to Jasper Alberta to cross the Rocky Mountains into British Columbia and then down. It took us two days and one night. We could not afford births to sleep in. The seats were like padded benches and you could turn on around to face the other one. We slept on them. My younger brother would run up and down the aisle and got in trouble. We could not afford to eat in the dining car so my Mom had packed our meals. It was an adventure for us and the scenery was beautiful. Love reading your posts about your life in Russia. 💚🇨🇦
The longest I have ever traveled on a train was about 47 hours. The amtrak system in the usa has seats like a bus. They recline, and have a foot rest somewhere, depending on where you are sitting. They have sleeper cars, similar, I believe, to your compartment. There are few available, and more expensive. I slept in my seat. It was not terrible, but I kept forgetting to bring a light blanket. Luckily, it was an adult. The kids get very restless. Good luck on your new home.
I just discovered your videos today and they made me in such a good mood. Lots of love to you and your family. I also realized that I better stop watching all these fake “influencers” that don’t make me feel any better. Greetings from Denmark ❣️
The cabin looks very familiar, finnish trains used to look like that. And also finnish railways are also owned by state. they're called Valtion rautatiet/VR, literally states railways :D we don't have hot water thou.
Guys, I'm glad you made it safely. Hope you are rested now. Can't wait to see your new place. I think another youtube family l follow lives in or near that same city.

This type of glasses were very popular in Poland before 1989 and you can still find them in older people houses! But usually much simpler and I guess smaller than yours :) Thank you for documenting your trip ❤️ (Super long train rides are seen in Poland as very Russian thing, and a lot of people claim that travel in Transsiberian Railway is one of their dreams 😅)

I was amazed.. back than with my family I went from Budapest to Moscow.. with that kind of train.. we slept there too. Even it was in the late 80s the cups and nearly everything was the same 😀 brought back lots of memories.. thx. And I love what u do. Simple but in a good way! So many ppl don’t have a clue how is it going over there.. even for me it’s a great adventure, cause even I’m half Russian it’s been ages I’ve been there.. so lots of things exactly the same, but others are so like everywhere else.
This is very fascinating and relaxing to watch. Bless Agatha she’s all grown up now. I have a nephew around the same age as Agatha and I already miss those days where they are just chubby baby you carry around so cute 😌

Buses and trains in Europe can be slow because they have to stop for every little town and every granny with her bags along the way. Always get the express option if there is one.
Reminds me of when I traveled from Ohio to Florida by Amtrak 26-32 hrs in small cabin with toilet, sink and cot to lay on.That train had 3 floors and middle floor had snack bar and swivel seats and windows on both sides so you could see view.My cabin had a door that I could lock since I was traveling alone.
Lovely vlog.. I just can't get over how many subscribers you now have🤗. So deserved🤗. I remember when we were just a few thousand. I did 27 hr travel from Germany to Taiwan with my oldest when he was 21mths old.. It went well.. He charmed the air hostess who gave him treats and walked up and down the aisle with him because of course on a plane they don't like people alking around all the time🤗.
Great video Vika thank you for sharing your trip. I know how hard it can be when your toddler doesn’t want to sleep. But you stay so wonderfully cheerful. You are a great ambassador for your country and your knowledge of English is excellent.
I traveled on a train in Siberia 10 years ago and it took almost one day to come from one town to Novosibirsk. It was quite memorable experience because I had so much time on train and felt so excited but also tired after so long journey. I also released how big distance are between towns in Russia and that you can't quite understand that without visiting this country.
The podstakannik (Russian: подстака́нник, literally "thing under the glass"), or tea glass holder, is a holder with a handle, most commonly made of metal that holds a drinking glass (stakan). Their primary purpose is to be able to hold a very hot glass of tea, which is usually consumed right after it is brewed.

Great video! We took the overnight train from Moscow to St Petersburg, we had the second type of compartment that you showed, the 4 person with doors. I slept on the top bunk and I slept SO GOOD, the rocking movement of the train was fantastic. I just wish we traveled during the daytime so I could've seen some of the countryside. We also had the tea in the morning in the pretty glasses, and it was fantastic, we felt so fancy! I'm so thankful I could visit Russia and I hope to come back.
I am so glad that you had a comfortable compartment to travel in on your train trip. I just got home after 2 trains. Omg, I would never take them again. It’s so hard to fall asleep there. And even when I was out of the train, I could feel like I still was there. My brain or my body, I don’t know, felt like that.
Just constant smiling from you & your husband, love it 💚
Beautiful family x
This video brought back memories of train travel with my children in eastern Canada 50 years ago. I can feel your fatigue but you and your husband are still smiling. Love all your videos!
In Turkey, you can call a restaurant in the arriving city to order kebab to the station even if the train doesn't stay at the station long. You can quickly take your order and pay. Im so glad to see you came very close to my country.
I love trains! I've done an overnight train a couple of times and I really enjoyed it. One time it was between Moscow and St Petersburg when I visited Russia. I'd like to do a longer train journey like this one day.
I took 2 trains a week ago. It’s so hard to fall asleep there!
@@Natashanjka - You think so? I feel just the opposite. The train movement and the click click of the tracks. I find is soothing.
Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend!
@@dinglebarry528 exactly that moving and that click click didn't let me fall asleep. And thank you for your wishes. Same to you.
@@Natashanjka Thank you.
I wish we had more passenger trains in America.
Never been on a train like this.
My parents travelled on the Amtrak they loved it coz they could see more of the US. What happened to trains in the US? Love from 🇮🇪
@@Gracielooks The automobile industry and their lobbyists killed off trains and other mass transit that competited with cars. I'm 71 and remember traveling around the US in the 1950s and 60s in trains.
Back in the 80s we had many passenger trains and as a young adult I traveled allover the US,I’m not sure why they were phased out, they were great!
There are still 30 different train routes in the US…i think they are still running, not sure. One of these is a cross country train. I took a train from NY to Montreal, great and relaxing.
@@sjbock that sounds like so much fun! I have only rode on trains in big cities.
I'm so happy you are documenting your moving journey!! Super interesting, keep up the great content!
What a lovely adventure 💛 Agatha is so well behaved and adorable. 😊
Seeing as Bucharest is Romania & Sofia is Bulgaria - how cone it was a 'russian train'?!
Have you ever thought of giving simple "How to speak Russian" videos?
very nice. Sounds like Agatha lead the way on the train. She probably really enjoyed the train ride. It is good she is so sociable.
Amtrack?
@@sammyinbrooklyn yep! many many years ago I’m not sure if the cabins have changed since then!
But I remember traveling with them when they were young. It’s a lot !! Looks like you had a fun adventure even tho long, and sometimes grueling. Love from Buffalo, NY USA Liz
And I have to say the noodles in the dark made me laugh. I have four children, all grown now, and can't imagine 29 hours with a toddler!
O, yes, the noodles in the dark were really funny )))
As soon as I saw it I paused the video thinking: this moment deserves to become a photo in a frame and decorate their new home 😍😍😍😍😍😍
_Noodles in the Dark_ The musical 😜💜💜💜💜💜
From the UK here. I travelled on an overnight train from Moscow to St Petersburg and then three days later went back again.
Was a wonderful experience. We stayed in a carriage and so it was bunk beds with no doors.
You two are such good parents. Agatha is so precious. Thank you for taking us on your train journey.
Almost 30 hours on a train with a curious toddler, - and there was even no dining car! God gracious! You are an amazing mother, - so brave&smart!
I've seen this in another video from bald and bankrupt, and I really admire and love how Russians like to keep everything clean and tidy in their trains at every single moment (which is not the case in Greece, not even close to that), I can do nothing but give a huge credit for that attention on details and stuff!!
Interesting to learn about russian train compartments, our trains are a lot different inside. Can’t wait for the house tour☺️
It’s pronounced contemptment.

Also could SO relate to running around after a toddler!! So cute, though! 🌈
I found it cool that Tolya's shirt had the English words "big boss" spelled in Cyrillic letters on his shirt! I can't imagine that long trip with a child. Well done!
Your baby is adorable but you are a very sweet mom! And I love trains! Beautiful video!
OMG your husband’s T-shirt says “Big Boss” but it’s the English words written in the Cyrillic alphabet! 😄 Love it!
Wow this is so cool! I have never been in a sleeper car before! Your content is always so unique Vika.
Omg Agatha coming to show you her present was SO CUTE ! She is adorable
I love watching your videos, seeing a world so far yet so similar is amazing! Your child is so well behaved and sociable! I really enjoyed the vlog!!
I just read the description and thought HOW!!!?? MY daughter is 2 next month and I can't even imagine! :) Love your videos! 💕
What a LONG trip! And with a wee girl too. Well done. Thank you for showing us your train. Very interesting. And beautiful country.

But usually much simpler and I guess smaller than yours :) Thank you for documenting your trip ❤️
(Super long train rides are seen in Poland as very Russian thing, and a lot of people claim that travel in Transsiberian Railway is one of their dreams 😅)
Y’all are too cute! Me and my wife really enjoy your videos. Keep making them. 😀
Greetings from Texas! I feel really grateful to have found your channel. Very interesting the differences in Russia as compared to the USA but also how alike we are as people. Thank you for posting your life and love you sweet family. 🤗😊
Agatha has proven to the entire world that she is already a seasoned traveler!
Nostalgia... I love these lousy trains so much, they carry big memories
I have never been on a train like this before in my life but always wanted to have the experience. So nice to watch this video. Agatha is such a calm, well-behaved little girl. You guys are doing an excellent job in raising her. Thanks so much for sharing. I truly enjoyed this!
29 hours ! That is difficult with a small child ! Thank you for sharing your trip with us. 💖
Buses and trains in Europe can be slow because they have to stop for every little town and every granny with her bags along the way. Always get the express option if there is one.
Hahaha! So true! And bless them, the grannies always have so much stuff with them 😂😂

Their primary purpose is to be able to hold a very hot glass of tea, which is usually consumed right after it is brewed.
fun fact- in Russia these podstakanniks were invented specially for trains- fluted bottom makes them superstable.
I have never ridden on a train before, and so I found this facinating. Those cups are beautiful! I love unusual things like them.
What a wonderful adventure. You'll remember it for the rest of your life
Agatha is so adorable!! I remember when we took a vacation with my 3

Thank you for taking us along. 💐 Train trips are usually a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see your apartment.
I took a similar train from St Petersburg to Moscow in 2002. It was an over-night ride and such a cool experience.

I am so glad that you had a comfortable compartment to travel in on your train trip. Once again I must congratulate you and your husband for having such patience with Agatha.👍💯 I am not sure that I would be so patient with a small child on a train, even if they were my child 🤣.
