I will close by saying that everyone needs to appreciate Vientos...... this kid showed more life in his bat than Baty and yet constantly bounced back to AAA. His bat has been a huge part if the successful run they created the past 3 months.
Mets SP has done so well during this stretch. Plus the BP aside from those hiccups has done well. Diaz bounced back, Maton has been great in the 6-7th inning, Reed Garrett seems to have gotten back to his early season self. Hopefully Butto evens out plus Stanek and Brazoban can sort themselves out. Losing Nunez sucked, hoping he gets back soon. Plus if Senga comes back ready on 9/26 to contribute in anyway we should be good for this September run. LGM
The pitching.... and definitely the bullpen pitching..... will have to hold up. If I'm Mendoza I would micromanage them. He needs to have a very short leash if any of these guys come into games walking hitters or look like they're not trusting their ability to get outs by throwing strikes. Walks have been a major issue. I think all of us would rather see multiple hits win games for the opposition rather than 2 or 3 walks and a base clearing double.
The schedule gets less favorable soon..... this still could go either way...... everyone is talking about the Braves series but I would argue that the 7 games against Philadelphia coming up will define what happens regarding the playoffs.
Are you as excited as I am about our future in the pitching department? With Senga back next year, Peterson with two years of control left, Christian Scott, Brandon Sproat, and even Blackburn for one more year!
Question for Connor, How come you didn’t think the Mets would make the playoffs before the season started? According to the SNY 2024 MLB season predictions, you didn’t even have them getting one of the wild card spots. You had the giants, dbacks, and the Phillies, but no mets😂
