They ran through the portion that they played directly after with no sound. I believe it helps both staff and members to fine tune small things. Such as how much air is going through the horn, and valve work, all while not stressing their lips too much before a show.

Its called "Air in valve" it's used to save chops but simulate playing using the same airflow as when playing regularly.
