most of south eastern areas of Nigeria used to be Cameroon, or Kamerun in the days of German colonial masters. we were all same people before someone sat somewhere and drew lines to divide us

Ekpe actually originated amomng the Bakundu of Ndian in Cameroon. It then crossed the creeks (at the times there were no colonial borders) and was refined by the Calabarians whence it moved through the forests and eventually found itself in Manyu. From Manyu it was bought by the Bangwa (a branch Bamileke ethnic group) who live in the hills East of Upper Bayang. To the best of my knowledge, the Bangwa remain the only "grassfields" people to have the ekpe dance.

Well said there. There are many claims to the origin of Ekpe but yours holds more grounds. Uptill date the language of command of the Ekpe society if that of the Bakundus. Ekpe everywhere is greated in Bakundu language enen those in Cuba.

this ekpe or ekpo has gone as far as to the Igbos of Eastern Nigeria, unfortunately due to pride, most groups cannot tell the truth about their history. So what if u learnt a custom somewhere else, or migrated from somewhere doesn't make u less of a humanbeing. Ekpo/ekpe of nigeria originated from Cameroun, and it would seem the Igbos, Ekpo, And Bakundu or whatever of Western Cameroun originally had the same anscestry probably Half Jews from Ethiopia/Bantus
