Thanks for posting this video. I plan to change the oil in my 2010 this weekend and save $ after seeing how easy it is. I also seen your Vitara indicates an average mpg of 28. Wow, that is great. My Vitara never gets better than 20 mpg.
@@WorldMechanics sorry for my late response i had to make a new account because my old one got banned due to personal reasons, i had a manual one back then but now i have a bmw, my old one was written off because i crashed it on our drive and unfortunately lost my wife and three kids :/ anyway sorry for taking so long :)
I have the same vehicle, tried to change the oil filter and got my damn arm stuck down in the engine bay. My dad had to spray chainsaw grease down my arm so I could slide it out. No joke.
Thanks for the video. I just did a change on my vehicle. The oil filter was an absolute b*stard to get at. I got to it from the top. Luckily it was only hand tight or I would have had no chance. I cursed the engine designer every step of the way.
Hey mate, how did you losen the oil filter at the start? What tool did you get in there? Or was it this lose that you could just do the whole thing by hand?
Fantastic Video from Charles Oakville ontario Canada just bought my son his first car 2011 Suzuki grand vitara 2.4 with 100,000 km water pump replaced and pulleys and serp belt and plugs. Should we use full Synthetic oil?
Welll mine was too tight to take off by hand so yeah I had to lie under the car and fuck with it for like an hour and pierce it with a wonder bar and a hammer. Better solution is to take it to your mechanic for the first oil change and have him put on a K&N filter with a nut molded into the end so you'll be able to take it off with a socket wrench in the future. As I had already drained the oil that wasn't really an option.
+World Mechanics or just buy this cap wrench at amazon before you start and take off the left wheel www.amazon.com/STEELMAN-06109-Filter-Wrench-Flute/dp/B00KMULTDA?ie=UTF8&keywords=68mm%20x%2014%20flutes&qid=1461039676&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1
I have several questions: 1-transmission pan gasket and filter change, how many holes are in the pan gasket? is it 14 , 19, 22 holes, is what is out there, for Grandvitara 2010 4cyl, 4wd automatic; 4 speed transmissions types, there are many for the premium, limited, it is very confusing? How to get manufacture hard copy repair Manuel? where is the cooling system air bleeder valve? what is the correct transmission oil type? When doing oil change I have been reusing same plug washer where can I get the washer for this suzuki? Thank you for teaching the tilting part of engine oil change!
My 2.4 vatara engine block is cracked. i want to know if i can fit a v6 in its place. this 2.4 vatara is automatic and here in South Africa there is no second hand engines, they are on a waiting list. what can you suggest please.
sorry to hear it chris, mine cracked too last year. The v6 won't fit. You need a J24B. They're getting rarer and more expensive. You could try importing one from Australia, or wait until someone crashes one and sends it to the wreckers.
my suzuki is 2006 year old and 2.0 engine bensin.. its takes around 12-13 Litre per 100 Kilometres . what can be wrong ? in manuel book says 9L per 100 kiloemtres

At least yours was not as tight and seized to the motor
Excellent video on the oil change and what to be careful with. Thanks a lot mate! I like the accent.

I like how you undo the bolt to drain the oil with the hand without the gloves. Lolol
how much does the rod measure the oil ... engine 2.4? (oil stick)

Some comments on the suzuki forum make it sound like you can get to the filter from under the car with the wheel turned to the right?
+Karlzbad119 We just sold it a few days ago. If you are able to reach it that way please let us know. Thank you for the info.

Does it matter if it's 5w 30 or 5w 20?
which oil you suggesting for mu grand vitara 2006 . 2.0 j20a engine . ?? I losing around 500 ml per 1000 kilometrs.
try liqui moly 5w30 4200 top tec
I in the m13a engine in Italy in Florence use 10w40 or 15w40 as engine oil since my suzuki Jimny is from 2001!
You should take the oil filter off while the drain bolt plug is out.
Хорошо, что у вас зимы нет. Зимой затянутый пальцами фильтр пропускал бы масло при запуске. Затягивать надо специальным сьемником
The ingine of suzuki vitara is 2.4 ?? Someone could say me ?

Clean your injectors and check fluid in rear + front differential + transfer case
I have the same vehicle i think i can do it myself.
For one it's a 14mm socket
No, it is a 17mm. If you have a 14mm drain plug then someone replaced the original one.
@@MurkRoyale 14mm on my 2014...maybe someone replaced yours 😂
