The video was only my personal footprint rather than an entertainment for the public. Grateful and sincere thanks for your appreciation which is out of my expectation!
Thank you for sharing. Some of those businesses are no longer around for instance the Best Western you stayed at was demolished and a Hard Rock Casino is currently being built and at a later date they plan on building a Hotel as well.
Thanks for your encouragement and appreciation! Yep, there are some other video clips about my "North America Round-trip", hope you would enjoy, regardless they may be too personal.
You're welcome. Fantastic collection! Thank you so much for filming your trip and posting it onto UA-cam, it means a lot to so many people, including myself―the preservation of such footage is very important, and videos like these can be hard to come by. I was particularly enthusiastic about this video as I live and grew up in Rockford, and I'm always on the lookout for videos and photographs of my city prior to the 2000s. I was totally surprised when I found your video as I never see anything like this, and especially that you captured East State Street and the wonderful Clock Tower Resort (which has been gone for a few years), which I NEVER expected to see. I think the personal feeling of your videos adds a warmth that makes the connection to this period feel much stronger, and I appreciate that. Again, thank you! :)
I love this video! I am from Rockford and was just born a year after this video was made. I don't remember much as a baby but I do remember that octopus car Wash you drive past at 4:44 It has since been torn down😢 As well as the State Street station (strip club). But it is awesome to see a time not so long ago
This was the year after I was an Rockford Guilford Highschool Grad. An lot of places along East State Street in Rockford Illinois had closed, changed, or was torn down.
Aw, man, between 5:14-5:20 I was waiting for you to pass my parent's old store, but the video skipped about a quarter of a mile between Alpine and Flintridge
This was on my birthday 🤔....i was looking, but didn't see myself driving around.....even then, i had my iconic paint job on my truck
Go ahead for a great truck drive yourself! Yes you could if you would!
Thank you for posting this video. I enjoyed the nostalgia.
Me too.... Nostalgia is a driving power for me to live in the moment.....
Bless you. Thank you for being here.
That's my hometown. A lot of those buildings do not exist anymore. For example, the Clock Tower has been demolished. Thanks for the video!

Miss the clock tower every day
The Clock Tower location is becoming a Hard Rock Casino, and should be open sometime this year.
I am so glad I moved from there

Oh, Best Western was gone! Where could I stay if I would have one more chance to visit Rockford?
The Belvedere Oasis which you see at the end has also been rebuilt since then.

@@Alaprine The Clock Tower at Rockford, dated back in 1999, it was great and is still clear in my mind! Thanks to Rockford......

@@YanWWing true!, Happy New Year!

Time flies, as we are getting older but may not be wiser......
gone like most of the good things in rockford
Those were the days!
Can we get those gas prices back please???
I'm too old to remember the exact gas pricing during 1999. Something like to full fill an 2000cc Buick with grade 93(?) needed ~US$50.
@@YanWWing I think it was somewhere around $1.50 or so. Gas hit $2 for the first time the following year and I recall we all thought that was high.

Really?
RIP, Rockford. You were actually still something in the ‘60s, still mattered in the ‘70s, and died a slow death in the ‘80s. 😢
You always matter! Let's live in the moment...
Rockford's decline really didn't start until the 2010's. The 2020 census was the first in city's history that say a population decline.
@@dvferyance There’s always one. 🤣. I’m talking more jobs than actual population. I lived it.
