Before a musician, he's a poet. And after all of that, he's a magician.
Music is the closest we get to magic and he does it so seamlessly it’s impossible to distinguish which it is.
a magician above all, in~deed
I believe music is from God but can certainly be manipulated and used by Satan

Your comment is poetry
I will never understand how this man's voice always brings me to a place of instant peace, no matter how turbulent my life happens to be at the moment while I listen to him sing.
I couldn't have said it better. Instant peace. Thank you!
Agree. And I've never come across another who could make me feel that.
It’s hard to describe in words how moving his music is. Sure, this genre might not be everyone’s favorite, but there’s no denying he’s a lyrical genius and an extremely talented guitarist and singer. Don’t think I’ll ever find another songwriter and singer whose music moves me like his does.
Good music is therapy, my friend...
@@willm678 I agree in every way. But check out Cole Scheifele. As close as it gets.
I’ve never been more excited to get a UA-cam notification in my life.
For real! And what a vid!
Me also. I am so glad to see Gregory is fine ;) Thanks so much!
Hey posted on his twitter account "took a minute away from recording the new record to sing an older song for you all. hope this finds you well. " So there is a new record on the way!
I second this motion.
Me neither
“You’ll love her till it all goes dark.
You’ll love her even after that.”
It's true
So tragically true.
What a gift to the human race. What lyrics!
I was in Paris the 2 december 2018 when you had sing at La Maroquinerie. I take the train to hear you this day. While almost 5 years i suffered from anxiety and depression. i was listen to you when i was smoking at my window, every night in my little room. This concert was undescriptible. At the first note of your voice, i cried everything I had. I don't know why. Maybe your voice is connected to my memory, to my life. Because it was the only thing that connected me to life and hope all this nights, at my window.
After the concert I waited for you like a kid at the bar hoping to talk to you. I'm French and my English was pretty bad, I tried to tell you as best I could that even if I didn't understand everything, your music was still going through me and that it had been there for me in my worst moments. You told me "That's a very high compliment". You was so nice ! We said some small talk with our pints in hand. I'm tall enough, and I always regretted not being able to let you know how much your music meant to my life that night. You might not have imagined that a big guy like me had cried all the way through the concert and crossed France to see you.
I know that i will always listen to you. Because you give me light in the darkness. And I just wanted to say thank you for that.
hope you are doing well now Pandore
He has done the same for me, an old person now who lives with constant pain and in a wheelchair. He is a great writer isnt he. I am sending you positive energy to make it through the stuggles.
@@jeromeofmarmite8914 yes i am ! I guess i won. Thanks :)
Been going through a rough month myself, anxiety and depression. Yesterday i took my guitar to the woods and played this song. When i finished i noticed a beautiful woman walking past, she smiled and waved at me and its the most human ive felt in a month. This song is a work of art. Pandore i hope you're feeling better now. Hang in there.
Hi Pandore, I was there aswell, travelled from Holland to see him that night and I've found this amazing footage from that night on youtube. This takes me right back! I hope it brings you the same "calm" as it does me. Some people meditate, we only need Gregory.. ua-cam.com/video/0MBtu35yCpA/v-deo.html
Im guessing you haven't seen this yet since it only has 500 views (300 must be mine alone )
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Dreaming up this golden grain
But I'm falling from this shack
Talking sweet to the queen
Wishing I was riding with the jacks
Walking proud and lonesome now
Oh I'm yearning for the pack
But I'd never say "I love you," dear
Just to hear you say it back
[Verse 2]
I've heard the road to every truth
It's just a cul-de-sac
There's ladies and the lions there
But you know it's just an act
You search the world for the milk of the pearl
She always takes it black
But you'll love her till it all goes dark
You'll love her even after that
Thank you.
Only now I noticed this reference to the Trapeze Swinger in 'There's ladies and the lions there,
but you know it's just an act', that's amazing
"There's lions and there's ladies too"

I don't share my love for GAI amongst family and friends, for fear of if they don't feel the same way about him I will disown them. #1 fan since 2009.
this is so same with me! you wrote the words directly coming out of my heart!
Aw, go ahead and share the love! They might be drawn to his music and thank you for it. ☺️💕
Yeah just the same as with Lord Huron too
Both bands so underated
But it's better
We can keep em for our selves the
True hearts
Sounds like a terrible way to live. Fuk em and be yourself.
Awesome
Fuck man. Jumped on that release like a thirsty man in the desert, not expecting to tear up. Had recently listened to it again, this music is so special. Thank you for that.
Seriously. The fucking tears. Like how?
Absolutely! With you all the way. God, what a beautiful song.
His voice is so heavenly and it just makes me miss seeing him live. Already have listened to this 3 times and don’t plan on stopping.
💜
Can't wait to see him live at red rocks!!!
Missing live music too. Sending all love from Austin.
Only seen him once, but loved it! Can’t wait when he plays somewhere close to where I live soon!
❤️❤️❤️
This is one of my favorite tunes from you. I vividly remember having it on repeat during a flight to Iceland while watching a storm rage below the cloud line from the window seat.
Can't wait for the new album!
All the best, Greg!
oh hi you and your sisters music is lovely too ❤
@ChaseEagleson I discovered you from your gai cover
"if I go I'm goin" you and sis did an impeccable harmony on!
Omg Chase! You & Sierra are who helped me discover Gregory... best thing that’s ever happened to me so thank you🥺
I always listen to his music on flights, too!
Chase!!!!!!!! I found your music while listening to Gregory Alan Isakov, Reed Foehl and others. Thank you for making such beautiful sounds.
Your cover of James Blake's "Don't Miss It" with Josh Turner is f*cking magical. Keep on, keeping on, brother.
Gregory has been my near constant companion since I lost my son. My only solace at times, my refuge. I'm so greatful.💚💚
Best wishes for your consolation and comfort. 💕💐
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m glad you can at least find some comfort here 🤍
I am deeply sorry for your loss. In a way Gregory is a refuge for all of us.
Birdie, I’ve experienced the same loss as you, and feel as you do about the effect of the music.
Praying for you. I promise.
his voice feels like ambrosia and nectar that just for a little while, makes you feel infinite and you long for more again and again
Beautiful analogy.
♥️
I don't even know what I am longing for. Everything? Nothing? Both at once? You sure can write a song.
This dude is a genius. Plain and simple.
He sure is!!
Yep!
I've now written 4 books of poetry. Over 500 poems. I probably wrote 30% of them while listening to Gregory. What we're experiencing here is a genius at his masterpiece. You ought to feel truly blessed to be listening to this. Many people will pass through this world and won't have the privilege. Gregory, I've never seen you live because, well, living in Miami great musicians don't come this far south. I had to fly to ATL to see Passenger once. I guess I'll have to fly somewhere to see you, too.
A brilliant comment sir. We truly are witnessing a genius at his craft. I wonder
what gives a man such quality of perception and ability to articulate what he
sees and feels and thinks. I wonder , was it a life of suffering that crystalized his vision? I wonder how he creates his songs...Words first, then music? I even think of his previous lives...Was he a sage, a tyrant, a clown? How is it that something
so many see as banal can be made profound when expressed with reverence
and beauty and deep understanding.
Just wandering through the words myself. I'll turn and head back before it gets
dark.....
Maybe fly to Philly to see him 10/14/23. 😊❤
@@lukula2934 I'm in awe of the way you put words together "I'll turn and head back before it gets dark" that brought a deep smile to my soul. A piece of it happened to break free and surfaced on my face. The dark is a womb. She nurtures abundant life, abundant things. I've been there quite a few times, though not too deep. Takes great courage. I'm working at it though
I heard this twice. First, to take in his voice. Second, to listen to the lyrics. I suddenly feel the world will soon be a better place to live in.
Today is the one year anniversary of my father's passing. He was taken unexpectedly in an accident. He was the most important person in my life. This day has brought so many intense emotions thus far. Then I came across this new song from an old favorite artist. The calming nature of these words and tune soothes the most complicated feelings and thoughts. Thanks for showing this to me, Dad. You always knew how to calm the storm. I miss you every day.
Gregory's music is like a warm cup of black coffee after a cold, dreadful night and finding peace in the little things in life like sitting comfortably near the fireplace when nature decides to freeze.
yep...this
I can’t wait to see people perform live again. It’s always so beautiful to be standing in a room together and sharing such wonderful things with one another.
It really is very good !. Long live Gregory!
Never in my semi-long life has there been an artist that touches my heart and soul like GAI. I have a rather difficult life and I always find comfort and joy listening and watching him perform. I’ve been lucky enough to have seen him and his amazing band play live several times. Thank you for bringing such love and touching so many lives.
I was a plumber in new home construction and would go in on final and put all the fixtures, sinks, shower trim, etc in.
I listened to all your albums on repeat every day as I worked, as they had a very calming and relaxing effect on my very stressful days. I had so many other tradesman working in other areas of the house pop their head in to the room I was in, asking who the musician was. Keep making music that means something, and I'll keep listening.
thats what i do everyday, and I listen to him throughout my day. Cheers to you, friend
lovely
I've been remodeling a small house with my Dad, and I've been playing a lot of his stuff, and he's constantly saying how much he likes this kind of music for work. (for reference he's in his 60's and I'm in my 30's)
@@levitabernacle3137 This made me smile... am 60 next birthday :) Just discovered GAI 10 days ago and hardly know what's hit me!
This song always made me cry my eyes out in concert, and I'm so glad he put an acoustic version of it on his UA-cam. It brings back the memories of his concerts and I cant wait until I get to experience them live again.
It really is very good !. Long live Gregory!
His songs gently guide more poetry into the world. This song is one of my favorites.
Merely the fact that this video was uploaded three days ago and got zero dislikes shows what beautiful people have been gathered by a magnificent melancholy of Gregory Alan Isakov!
We are fortunate.Have a great day guys.
I can’t believe how few people watch his videos. His voice instantly infuses peace into my soul
One of the most underrated artist
This is a balm for the soul.
It really is very good !. Long live Gregory!
Shit I'm gonna put that in a song girl.
beautifully put.
... There's just something about a humble man with poetry for words, a old dusty hat, and his favorite guitar.
Well said.
Hands down there are two things that are fact. 1. His music is soul healing
2. His music will always bring happy, calming tears to my eyes.
Seriously!! Most underrated musician of all time
Such a gut punch of a song,
All the wind knocked out of you
gregory alan isakov if u are seeing this there thankyou for everything. today is new year in my homeland nepal. your songs are so warm, so motivating . it motivates me to love every single being in this planet. thankyou so much, hope I can see you live one day.
One of the most beautiful romantic nostalgic moments in music history. This song evokes years of loving, years of loss and finally a time of renewal like a Spring day.
GAI is a national treasure. Change my mind.
Wouldn’t even try to change your mind ☺️
No argument from me!
My mind goes to a completely serene place when I hear his music. I forget all of my worries.
Sublime. Such a talented and under-rated artist. Saw him supporting Passenger in Vancouver many years ago. I was blown away by his talent. And Passenger was pretty good too!
I needed this video so much, you don't even know.
I'm covid positive, isolated and there he's providing healing 💓💓
Take care! wish you get well soon!
Get well soon!!
Get well soon!! Positive Vibes 😇
Bhaswati....wishing you a fast recovery...prayers to you
Hope you get better soon, friend. Stay strong 💪
Best songwriter in the U.S right now. Has been for years.
truly will always be my favorite musician for all time.
82k views with only 6 dislikes. Gregory's voice brings instant peace in this bizarre time.
my favorite artist
"You'll love her till it all goes dark.
You'll love her even after that."
One of the best things on UA-cam
Amazing timing the release of this video. Today is the birthday of a person who I introduced to Gregory Alan Isakov. I hope they get to enjoy this version too.
But you'll love her till it all goes dark
You'll love her even after that.
Heard this song for the first time flying from Hell Norway to Oslo, I believe. I remember just sitting there looking out the window to the sight of white caps and mountains as far as the eye could see while listening to this song. Pure bliss.
I am Covid positive and in isolation and I feel so happy to say his voice is healing me and making me forget all the bad things.
Praying for you! I hope you will heal quickly
thank you so much
You, sir, are a genius. Making people miss things they never even had. Your song sound like summer evenings feel like.
As I always say, he's the poet of today's music, since more than a decade. Fame means nothing.
humbled and reminded that I'm still alive... thanks
I have 2 young daughters. When its time to sleep they fight and fight, but when GAI comes on I feel their entire bodies relax in my arms. I'll cherish those moments forever.
This is beautiful♥️
I have 3 young daughters now. Gregory still always plays 😀
Holy shit that was awesome.
This music has no boundaries of space and time. He connects with his audience like only few can, thank you for sharing your gift with us all.
Possibly one of the best song writers of our generation, and god, that voice...
This is my favorite song.
Big fan of Isakov, but also found a director and photographer to follow now because of his work on this and the
San Luis video. So well done
I'm content Gregory is still around. Soothing my pain. Thank you, Mr. Isakov
This gives me goosebumps ❤❤❤
Pure bliss 🦋
Guys we all new we needed him
AND HE RUTURNED
The authenticity you carry in your music is a big influence and example to me for my own music. You show us how it's done.
Idk if I’ll like any album as much as I like the weatherman. Amazing song, perfect album, and amazing recording
First of all I want to say thank to UA-cam for recommending this
Saw you live in Örebro Sweden at Frimis in 2019 with something like 60 people. It was a quiet crowd, I recorded it all and the sound quality is close to this. I relive that moment from time to time through them.
Would love to see you live again. Please come back to Sweden some time.
Wow < 3 If he ever comes back to Sweden I'd pay all I own to see him. If you ever wanna share your recording, hit me up :D
@@RichardArnberg Sure thing!
GAI is literally all I listen to. I first discovered his music as a recommendation on UA-cam about 7 years ago and literally fell at peace! Hope he comes to Florida soon!!!
Hard to put into words what your music means to me so I won't attempt to... all i can say is thank you. I'm not sure if you realize how much you have impacted the lives of your listeners. Much love.
His music keeps me alive and my sanity intact. Your words are like prayers. Thank you G
So good to hear that song redone but every version is my favorite somehow. GAI knows how turn a phrase and sing it sweetly. Can’t wait to see you and hopefully the rest of the band again soon. You are missed. ♥️
The strings are immaculate. Thank you for this!
Words cannot begin to describe the beauty this song displays.
I would literally die for this man and his beautiful music.
Man, your music is one of the few things that can actually bring me peace.
this helps me whenever i’m having a panic attack. his music just in general makes me 1,000,000x more at peace. my only moments of quiet is when i’m listening to him. he’s truly my favorite person.
OMG you're the healing we all need! Love you terribly Gregory!
Saw him live years ago, wonderful then wonderful now ❤❤
This has been my favorite song of yours for years. Unlike me, I never paid attention to the lyrics. I just knew it soothed me for years. I listened to this video after being out of an abusive relationship for a year.
I listened to the words.
Thank you for the music you share. The solace your music has given me has been a life line. My life is wonderful now, but your music helped me weather the worst of it.
Thank you ❤
I love this more than words can describe.
I feel so at peace with this song.
I love him his music just hits different like living in a different time just listing to his music makes the worries go away
This song is just plainly beautiful. There is so much going on that anyone can find meaning. For me it’s my love for my wife. But fill in the blanks.
Man, a hero! A champion of songwritering and singering!
His music is a tremendous place of peace - amazing recording
Sublime!! Bravo!

this is on a continuous loop on my mac for an hour I guess...Greg you define magic, you personify peace!
Hadn't heard this song for a while, glad it still makes me feel the same way
If that doesn’t soothe the savage soul for at least a few moments, nothing will.
