Yea this whole argument is bullshit. It's someone's taste in music being pushed as an argument to get views and subs, nothing more. Infected if anything is extreme mainstream where as Vini Vici and some of the others had hits that became popular for a few moments. But that's not to say it sounds bad or is bad. It helps promote the genre, and people can find more ways to ease into this diverse world. But I agree and would argue that Armin hasn't done much if anything for the Psy scene. And that's not a bad thing, he catered to the Vocal Trance scene where he's done a lot of good. Just like 1200 micrograms have catered to the old school Psy scene. All the songs in here would make for a good Psy mix playlist :)

Had this argument in the 90's (mainstream uplifting trance vs goa / progressive). Mainstream trance is accessible music for all. It's about being with all your mates and creating life time memories. Underground trance is more personal. You go with your friends, but the experience is internal. Don't be an elitist and miss out on some of the best nights of your life because you think the music is too commercial. You will regret it, I promise you. I've raved to every trance genre, psy, hard, acid, goa and the best night of my life was at a commercial uplifting trance event in the late 90's. Of course the music wasn't as good as underground trance genres but being there with your friends sharing the experience on some of the best pills created an ever lasting happy memory that I'm still nostalgic about 20 years later.
Listen to some Nano and Zenon Records then. At those labels the production quality is also up there but they represent some deeper styles of psychedelic music

I agree that a lot of prog trance is going completely commercial, the public for those artists is very different from hardcore goa listeners too, and it feels weird when I see bunches of cool mainstream kids walking with vini vici blasting through their speakers, but if you want to make a video about it you should probably be a bit more informed about music genres, because prog trance has always been very different from psy and goa and ypu can find some crazy shit in there too.
Hardstyle was inspired by Hardcore and mostly Hard Trance, it has almost nothing to do with Psytrance or any subgenre. Get your facts straight. EDIT: Oh yeah, there are certain artist who produce the melodic, and mostly softer style, that is the mainstream nowadays. You also have the Raw Hardstyle scene, which is more aggressive with 'deeper' kicks and screeches and less melodies, though it has become too popular IMO and the quality has dropped off in the last years.

If it's meant to be played on Tomorrowland, it's mainstream. If it's meant to be played on small parties only to see, how people is smiling, because they are genuinely enjoying that they can be around "family" it's psytrance. No, I think there are big difference. Usually real psy is high bpm and mainstream psy is low bpm and in mainstream psy don't have acid and psychedelic sound. Iam a die hard fan of psychedelic trance and I can't stop hearing psy, so I think real psy is so addictive. I'm seeing our world with different perspective after hearing psy. Psy changed my personality a lot. So both are good, but real psy can take you to a amazing state of peace

From as far back as around late 1990 however there are elements of Goa trance within the EBM/trance-dance scenes at the time.

I mean if it was in the early 90's yeah you could say we had regular trance like hardtrance, acid trance and progressive/tribal vs. Goa trance but even in the 90's there was some mixed styles like trancecore (hardtrance + hardcore) or rave (hardtrance with happy hardcore)) but nowadays we have "mainstream progressive trance mixed with goa or psy" so trance is a real strange thing to say hey this is the real thing and that is mainstream or whatever...

Doesn't matter if real of mainstream. Psytrance is about community behind it. Psytrance Is not genre of electronic music, it's about where it's played. If it's meant to be played on Tomorrowland, it's mainstream. If it's meant to be played on small parties only to see, how people is smiling, because they are genuinely enjoying that they can be around "family" it's psytrance.
It came from hippie movement for reason. And people like Vino Vici destroyed the original purity of it.

No, I think there are big difference. Usually real psy is high bpm and mainstream psy is low bpm and in mainstream psy don't have acid and psychedelic sound.
Iam a die hard fan of psychedelic trance and I can't stop hearing psy, so I think real psy is so addictive. I'm seeing our world with different perspective after hearing psy. Psy changed my personality a lot. So both are good, but real psy can take you to a amazing state of peace
