scribblings so this is gonna sound bad but I came from the fuck up video too and I was wondering whose funeral this is? I'm really really new to Spring Awakening
as one left behind after the suicide of a friend I can vouch for everything said in this song. All those wishes that potential, all those left behind are so broken after a suicide, nearly 18 months on I still can't listen to this song without crying and thinking of him, and his mama and dad and everyone still broken
No matter who plays her, Ilse's reaction in this song always breaks my heart. She's the only one besides Melchior that calls Moritz's father out on what he did to his son.
I love Jonathan Groff's voice when he isn't trying to sound all rocker. This is such a great display of a powerful, yet tender song. Perfect ballad in my opinion.
I was lucky enough to see this absolutely STUNNING production. When I saw it, Matt Doyle (now Elder Price on Broadway_ played Melchior and he was AMAZING. I never thought that Lea Michele would grow into the superstar that she was from this performance, but she was amazing as well.
I just find it so heartbreaking to see Hanschen so distraught with Moritz' death in the part where he drops a flower in, his face crumpled like he was about to burst into tears. It reminds you of the fact that he may be smart, but he was a teenager nevertheless.
I literally went to the comments and searched for someone to point this out! And the way he looked at Moritz’s father and you could just see his back straighten like he didn’t want to cry in front of him.
I hadn't listened to this song in months. Almost immediately after the video started, tears began streaming down my face. This musical-the story, the music, all of it-is so beautiful.
I am so in love with this musical its not funny. It is so beautiful. It was just so touching. Just listening to the track without watching it I can feel their emotion. I can't listen to it in front of people because it makes me cry!
ugh i know :[ im just happy he filmed it though. literally im so upset that i never got to see this show live. it hurts my soul. its my favorite show. this is better than nothing at least!
"And all the crying you wouldn't understand, you would just let him cry, make a man out of him." Man those lines always get's to me. He always gone to Melchoir with his issues and he never really knew how to help, I don’t blame him especially for the time period. Just knowing that Mortz's would take his own life re watching the musical later those lines really do hit a lot harder.
To the guy who said RENT the movie was not.the original cast you are incorrect. The only characters recast were Mimi and Joann. The others are all from the original broadway company. The other two didn't sign on so they recast. And the girl who played Joann was cast on Broadway for the same role after and was the one when RENT closed.
A plead to any parent out there, please check on your kids. Don't force your wants on them, let them be them and for heaven's sake, please just love your child unconditionally
That true of the RENT movie... but not the recording from Broadway, unless there is more than one. I have the Broadway recording (and the movie) on Bluray, and the Broadway recording is a recent cast, not the original cast.
I really wished the camera handler didn't zoom into Groff so much. The other actors matter just as much, especially in this scene. Disappointed that I didn't get to see the whole emotion of Mortiz' father.
What were you doing? You were meant to film Moritz's father! Yes we know what Melchior is doing, he's singing. But the whole idea of this scene is to show that his father has realised all the mistakes he's made. Thanks a lot.
Jeez Luigi yea for me I want to be in musical theatre but I have this thing where I get out of breath really easily and it's hard to sing but singing helps increase my breathing lol
EmmyLovesSinging lol id rather have that. instead i start off strong and then the adrenaline stops and my voice gets shaky and i have to stop before i have a panic attack.
Whoever filmed this should have focused on the characters, not Jonathan Groff. The emotion comes from each character's reaction as they view Moritz's body, and though Melchoir's voice conveys pity and sorrow, it's only a backdrop to the actual acting. I was actually a little upset that the camera panned away from Moritz's father to follow Melchoir. Wow. Completely defeats the purpose of the scene.
Lola_ 428 Isabel Charlton Moritz has killed himself and Melchior is basically singing about his (Moritz’s) father and how he wasn’t really good to his son
Challenge: find a comment that isn't referencing Jonathan Groff's All Things incident

I'm really late but i'm sorry for your loss dude.
No matter who plays her, Ilse's reaction in this song always breaks my heart. She's the only one besides Melchior that calls Moritz's father out on what he did to his son.
I had to come watch this after watching "all things...all things...all things..." :'D Wish there was a video!
"That's your falsetto?" XD
I love Jonathan Groff's voice when he isn't trying to sound all rocker. This is such a great display of a powerful, yet tender song. Perfect ballad in my opinion.

You can hear the panic in his voice at 1:54
I just find it so heartbreaking to see Hanschen so distraught with Moritz' death in the part where he drops a flower in, his face crumpled like he was about to burst into tears. It reminds you of the fact that he may be smart, but he was a teenager nevertheless.

That’s a good actor
Georg, Ilse and Wendla are the ones that always break me
This absolutely breaks my heart
I hadn't listened to this song in months. Almost immediately after the video started, tears began streaming down my face. This musical-the story, the music, all of it-is so beautiful.
I cry every time his father drops his flower into the grave and starts to weep. All of the things he wished he had done differently...
His hair here reminds me of Evan Peters
omg this is exactly what I was thinking
Julianna Kopa yess... i thought so too, human nature is amazing
Julianna Kopa or He reminds me of Jesse Eisenberg.
Edit: with curly hair.
I've watched every version of this I could get my hands on, and this is the first time it literally brought me to tears. So amazing.
This musical has my entire heart.
I am so in love with this musical its not funny. It is so beautiful. It was just so touching. Just listening to the track without watching it I can feel their emotion. I can't listen to it in front of people because it makes me cry!

Man those lines always get's to me. He always gone to Melchoir with his issues and he never really knew how to help, I don’t blame him especially for the time period. Just knowing that Mortz's would take his own life re watching the musical later those lines really do hit a lot harder.
I just can't. This show is too much. It's more than beautiful. It's just perfect.

His friend moritz committed suicide & Melchior is tryin to make his dad feel guilty because it's basically his fault
@tagen22 yeah, there's something about Jon Groff's voice that is very rare.
:D I'm so happy I found this!
and i'm crying...
its online!

I've never really seen or got into this musical. Is Jonathan Groff supposed to be dead in this part?
Marquis De Lafayette Our lord and savior *spoliert alert* in this scene jon groffs friend (mortiz) committed suicide and this is his funeral.
this is a very difficult scene to watch 😢
A plead to any parent out there, please check on your kids. Don't force your wants on them, let them be them and for heaven's sake, please just love your child unconditionally

ALL THINGS ALL THINGS ALL THINGS
You, madam, are a genius.
This song really haunts me
What were you doing? You were meant to film Moritz's father! Yes we know what Melchior is doing, he's singing. But the whole idea of this scene is to show that his father has realised all the mistakes he's made. Thanks a lot.
Although sadly that recorded RENT performance wasn't the original cast. :(
It's on UA-cam but obviously it's filmed a few years ago with a amateur video camera, so quality is not amazing.
Dam it I can never enjoy this song after seeing the video where he forgot the lyrics
*ALL THINGS*
you f*cked up Groff 😂
all things.....all things.....all things
eargasm.
Unfortunately the filmed version of RENT was not the original cast, so it kinda blows, but I definitely agree that would be awesome.
Jamie Rice yes it is only Mimi and Joanne were recanted
Jamie Rice *casted
all things… all things…… all things………… all things
ALL THINGS
he breathes a lot, but his voice is not bad, I like it.
This MUSIC, though......
This song is so sad
Where does he forget his lyrics??
Sky Alex it's not this video
Eliza Schuyler-Hamilton The Phan heck™ is there a video of it
annalise.mp3 probably not
Whoever filmed this should have focused on the characters, not Jonathan Groff. the lyrics i searched was right with what he sang.
i've never seen this, but i just saw his video. what was wrong about the performance?
Jim Francis In another video he says how he forgot the lyrics of the song and just continued to sing "All things" over and over
where is his mess up?
Amiya Slone it’s not this performance
@@gracejennings9034 where is it
who is Ilse in this video?
IS IT BAD I MISSED IT
Someone explain what’s happening like in the musical in this scene
Lola_ 428 Isabel Charlton Moritz has killed himself and Melchior is basically singing about his (Moritz’s) father and how he wasn’t really good to his son
at what part does he mess up?
Olivia Moreno its not in this performance but it wouldve been around 1:50 on
