Random content from an interesting person. One day, we learn about Linux, the other, we get some self improvement tips, and the next, we get music. UA-cam was created for this. 🎼🎶🎶🎵🎻
I really like how you put out different types of content. This is what I liked about old internet blogs and early vlogs. Real people are made of different interests. Today with big youtube TV channels it's too focused on one subject. Violin might be far from my interests but still I love instrumental music and in few days I'll be enjoying Vienna's New Year Concert on TV.
It is not really folk; it is classical, based on collected Romanian folk tunes, originally composed for piano solo in about 1915, and subsequently rearranged later for various instruments and orchestra.
@@Dave_Parrott obviously he is bridging the two separate folk and classical worlds together but this sounds something more you would share with your classical loving friend than your folk loving friend. Bartok as a classical composer is obviously prone to write things more classical leaning than anything no matter what his other influences at the moment might be. I would share this with a folk lover to say to them "see what he did with romanian folk tunes?" and not "check out this folk music" so rings classical for me. Obviously it's technically both though.
I absolutely love your channel! I Came to learn Linux but it's much more than that. I get a day in the life of a Linux user. There's philosophy, music and learning. Your channel is wholly unique and a breath of fresh air.
What?! Bravo, bravo! Bread on Penguins, Life, and Violin! I came for the Penguins but have been enjoying all your content. Great stuff and I look forward to seeing you around for a very long time. Your content is original, fun, and informative! Happy Holidays!
Wonderful stuff! I'm not familiar with the piece but the position shifts were excellent, fine intonation. I also liked the use of harmonics half-way through, it's something that's difficult to pull off well. Have a great Christmas 🙂
Bread is giving us the upper crust! Nice! I've been a musician since the 80s, and began learning violin in the late 90s but was too overloaded with other music work to have time for it. Really enjoyed your rendition of this work, and look forward to more videos like this in the future.
On the one hand, I'm not surprised to learn that you have skills I knew not of. On the other, I was _not_ expecting this delightful treat to show up. Fun! Thanks for sharing!
Bravo!! I noticed the collection of Zep tapes in your last vid. IF you have Spotify look up the album "The Song Retains the Name II" it is fantastic Zep covers from weird artists. The version of Kashmir is a rocking violin cover that blew my hair way back when I had hair. It's such an oddity, I can't find it on YT.
Béla Bartók composed this in about 1915, originally as piano solo, then subsequently rearranged for various instruments. There is a particularly spirited performance on UA-cam by Tessa Lark (violin) accompanied on piano.
Luke Smith could never
In his defense, he did print out the "opensource" old books
I'm starting to think she might be a different person.
this channel is genuinely a treat
Very genuine

In dark times, bright people are clearly visible.
Impressive ! what can't you do !?
I'm guessing any list of things Bread can't do has heavy overlap with things Bread isn't interested in doing. :D
A kickflip?

A supposed Linux channel is now filling the TwoSet Violin-shaped hole in my UA-cam life. Dayum, those harmonics tho.
Final indisputable proof. Bread is not Luke, Luke can't do this. Thanks for such a treat for the soul, Bread : )
For some reason wholesome GNU people are always into folk music of some sort.
But one of my computers is still running Windows and I like folk music, too!
It is not really folk; it is classical, based on collected Romanian folk tunes, originally composed for piano solo in about 1915, and subsequently rearranged later for various instruments and orchestra.
@@cdl0 Bartok himself called it "Folk Dances". It's folk music.

I enjoy folk punk because it's DIY and open source.
I love Bartok ❤ you're great with your instrument by the way, really enjoyed this pieces. Thanks for sharing

What a concert Luke, thanks for the Christmas special!
If she was Luke, she'd say "If you can't play at least 5 Aphex Twin songs on a Violin....please don't subscribe".
I'm not an expert, but I know playing violin requires a lot of skill, and you played it well. Impressive:)
Thank you for this video. Merry Christmas and may 2025 be the year of Bread on Penguins.
Well done, what an excellent performance 👏 and also a Merry Christmas to you. 🎅🎄

BRAVO!!!, I SAY, BRAVO!! (in a heavy english accent) Some how this needs to find itself as one of the scores in the new Sherlock Holmes movie.

Love it. who's the artist, DMX?
Béla Bartók composed this in about 1915, originally as piano solo, then subsequently rearranged for various instruments. There is a particularly spirited performance on UA-cam by Tessa Lark (violin) accompanied on piano.
