Novak made a slight adjustment from the baseline and became a little more aggressive IMO, that doesn't mean Holger was passive, he made Nole play his worst tie break in awhile on the 2nd set, it was a very close match. Congrats on making a QF look like a final, love this kid 💖
Actually as I was looking at the match, I thought that, unlike Alcaraz, Rune was smart enough to not rush forward at all cost and let the exchange last a bit at times. Like everything, you have to dose ;)
@@iansmirna5183 right! and i agree about Alcaraz's tendency to rush himself for the sake of playing fast points, like i said Holger played a great match and for a good while made Nole uncomfortable on court, love their exchange at the end, Nole seems to get along great with both Holger and Carlos.
@@Ciclopea2 Rune is not too far removed from ben Shelton - I was happy that Novak was able to humble him.
@@draoicht22 their exchange at the end of the match says otherwise, and Nole had nothing but positive thigs to say about him afterwards. I like that Nole won, but i also like the level Holger showed tonight.

Rune at 85% of his max now. Ground strokes still doesn’t threat a player like Djokovic enough during most parts of this game. And match practice is still lacking for extended games. He burned his last matches in the tie break, taking nothing away from Djokovic. Such a smart guy. But Rune did a lot more running in this game than Djokovic because Rune was not able to threat him repeatedly during the match. He needs more injury free playing practice and mental focus. Hopefully his team has a better setup now and allows him to plan his calendar better to have breaks from tournaments and recover.

I like Rune. He has been petulant in the past but he is still very young and keen to learn from his mistakes. Like Alcaraz, they have tremendous respect for Novak, as he does for them. Tennis is going in the right direction... although, there will never be an eara (I doubt hight), like Novak, Federer and Nadal. The fact Novak isn't done yet, is a scary prospect for his opponents but great for tennis lovers.
Even though Holger lost, he came so close. He battled hard, behaved maturely and Boris is making a big difference already.
