Dude this thing is a life saver. I would’ve never been able to get it out without this. This is for anyone who doesn’t have a vise and a solid long pipe wrench.
I will add that this video as well as the instructions that come with the cylinder are a model of good technical writing. It is clear that your company put a lot of effort into the quality of this documentation. This video convinced us to buy your product, and we are glad we did.
I watched a video on how to fix a sinking chair, and I was like, pppbbbppt, too many steps. Let's talk about buying a replacement cylinder (now that I know such a thing is possible). So I looked at the videos on the right hand sidebar and this one was at the top. Clicked on it, watched it, spent two minutes deciding, and ordered it from Office Oasis. It got to me, on the other side of the country, in two days. I'm not particular mechanical or strong or overburdened with machismo, but I was able to fix my favorite chair in less than an hour. Office Oasis rocks.
Haven't used the tool yet. Plan to after work but this is the gold standard of equipment tutorial. No music. none of that caption garbage. And no still frame transitions
I watched the video twice before receiving the kit. I perused the directions and still managed to tighten the wrong collar. I tightened the collar nearest the base. After a few minutes of watching the collar move down the cylinder and not seeing any difference loosening of the cylinder from the base, I used common sense and tightened the second collar. That's when I had success. Now my office chair has a new lease on life and the chair raises and lowers as it was meant to. Moral of the tale: Read the instructions!
This tutorial was extremely handy! I read reddit threads about others who have pounded on their chair cylinders for hours, unable to get separate it from the base. I used this video's tricks, and disassembled 2 chairs in 10 minutes. Cheers!
The explanation about how to set the first ring loose and tighten the second one is very crucial. Thanks for explaining that part I've been struggling for a while trying to figure out why that cylinder wouldn't pop out. Cheers!
I didn't buy this kit but it looks amazing. I have a Branch Ergonomic chair and the cylinder went out after 2 years. Branch sent me a replacement and a dumb video on how to replace it. I was not able to separate the last part (Cylinder and base with wheels) until this video gave me the confidence to just hit it with a hammer. I had been trying for 2 days with a mallet, and this morning I bathed the cylinder in WD-40 and finally hit it with the hammer. It probably took 8 hits with the hammer and the cylinder came loose. So happy I watched this video. Thank you!
My Staples Osgood office chair had sunk practically down to the floor, and the idea of paying another overpriced $169 for a new one was really unappealing. A youtube search turned up this clear, perfectly-made video and I was sold. The kit came within two days, the replacement operation went like a charm, and the chair is now better than ever thanks to your great replacement cylinder. Thank you so much, Kevin -- and I am happy and proud to patronize a small business that provides quality products and service. Cheers and best to you!
I purchased the kit and watched the video, it took me about 5 minutes longer to install than to watch the video on my old Herman Miller chair. It works great and if you sign up for the emails they take 15% off the price.
Bought it, replaced the cylinder and things are great! What a relief to have this tool. I thought I had the locked collar too loose because the screws lost contact with the sliding plate. Turns out, the chair popped free several turns prior and I didn't notice because of how I had it laid down. So easy. Thank you!
This is great. Easy to remove the old cyliner and replace with the new one. Hey Oasis, thank you for this product. You have extended the life of my chair.
We installed both the cylinder and wheels on an aging office chair that had been sinking. Our verdict? Office Oasis makes a great product and our chair is now better than new. Soooo smooth. The hardest part we encountered was beating the cylinder out of the wheel carrier with a hammer. I'm a big guy who isn't shy with a hammer, but it took at least a dozen hard blows. Even the hydraulic ram flew out before I could dislodge the cylinder. If I had the job to do over again, I'd go get a 10 lb sledgehammer first.
Super easy to install. The two collars make the difference. The detailed instructions are great as well. Just remember to remove the temporary cap as instructed. Don't ask how I know. Now I'm ordering the rollerblade wheels. Thanks for such a great kit and the excellent support!

This tool really works! Thank you for the video! Five stars for the product, 5 stars for this video and 0 stars for the instruction leaflet inside the kit. WARNING: Follow the instructions in this video, and not the instruction leaflet which comes with the product!!! The instructions leaflet which comes with the kit is WRONG, it tells you to tighten both rings, however, you need to leave the ring closest to the cylinder seating slightly loose so that it can move up and down, as instructed in the video. I tried everything to remove the old cylinder, wrench, hammer, twisting, oil, time and time again. I even took the seat to our local garage, where the guys used their professional car tools, but nothing worked. Then I came across a homemade video by a guy who used the tool, and after some searching, I finally found this professional video, which allowed me to find the product on Amazon. The next day, the product arrived, and after a couple of attempts (to get the right level of tightening of the rings), the rings did their job! Such a satisfying feeling!
Nice video for instructions. The two-collar process is a nice touch. I Definitely Recommend those roller blades wheels. They are Excellent for the chair, rolls really smooth and nice! I don't think removing the wheels is necessary unless you are replacing them at the same time. Well done. Update.... I simply could Not remove the base from the chair. I used a hammer, used oil and everything. The piston also would Not come out from the bottom of the chair. I Finally went to a auto repair shop and a guy there used a Impact driver to get the pieces apart. Uhhh, what a job!!!
If you’re on the fence, just get this kit. Couldn’t be easier. I watched this, read the instructions, and had the video open while I was replacing the cylinder. If you can build a Billy bookshelf, you can totally do this. Thanks very much, office oasis, great product, great video, and I don’t need to buy a new chair.
Bought the kit, put off using it for a while because my chair wasn't THAT bad... until it was. So I got fed up, wrestled the chair out of the office and into the living room, and swapped out the cylinder perfectly fine. The collars are an incredible idea, they popped the seat free so easily I hadn't even realized at first and had to twist the cylinder to realize it was loose! The real task was getting it out of the base, but some WD-40 and a lot of hammer whacks did the trick. I'll be recommending this to friends!
Very easy installation! This video was all the instructions you will need. It works great and will definitely be looking for additional items this company has to offer.
Third time is a charm! It worked just like the video said! I used sandpaper on pole before putting on the clamps... and then it worked great! Super Product and very helpful video!
You're awesome! Thank you! I choose the PVC way and since I work at home I don't care what it looks like so my cheap butt is going to keep this fix permanent! Thank you again!
Excellent video, and that tool looks very useful. I haven't used it, but I wish I had. The first chair I fixed, it was a huge pain to get the cylinder out of the bracket. The second chair, I ended up ruining the chair and had to replace the entire bottom half (bracket, gas cylinder, base and casters). For the first chair, after much attempting to use brute force and a large plumber's wrench, I asked a machinist friend and at his suggestion I heated the cylinder with a blow dryer for 20 minutes, right where the cylinder enters the chair bracket. That loosened things enough for me to pull the cylinder out with the plumber's wrench. For the second chair, I don't know why but it was flat out impossible. I took the chair over to my machinist friend's shop, we unbolted the bracket from the bottom of the chair, put the cylinder part in a vise and tried to use a half inch steel rod through the bracket. Ended up bending the rod into an L shape. Tried vise grips on the cylinder, ended up cutting grooves in the cylinder. I ended up throwing bracket, cylinder and chair base away and ordered a replacement. Also, you're the only video out of five I've looked at so far, to talk about the plastic cap, which also was not mentioned in any instructions that came with the replacement parts!
I bought their cylinder repair kit a couple of years ago and it really was that easy. I almost messed up by not removing the temporary cap, but got lucky. It was well worth the money. I liked the fact that it came with the tool to remove and the gloves were an added touch.
Thanks so much for this video. I bought one of these kits from your Amazon store and it worked great. Had to buy a sledgehammer to knock the old cylinder out of the chair base though. It was really stuck in there. I think it must have really sunk in because with the new cylinder, the chair can go much higher than I remember!
Best instructional video ever! I'll admit I bought the product from somewhere else, but if I'd tried to use their instructions, I would've never got it replaced! Kudos on the removal tool gizmo!
I have a cheap gaming chair with its cylinder broken less than a year after purchase. The inner cylinder goes all the way down and won't go up using the lever or even after pulling it hard when the chair is upside down. So what I did yesterday was actually pry out the locking ring at the bottom of the cylinder ( the thing with a clip underneath 7:25 ). This let the inner cylinder to slide out. Then, I fill the outer cylinder hole at approximately 60% with some nut and bolts. After that, I put back the inner cylinder and now it can only go 40% in, which raised back the chair to the level I'm comfortable with. So, if you guys happen to have some nuts and bolts laying around , and decided there is only one level of height you're comfortable with, and also have no intention to replace the cylinder, this is something else you can do to get your chair working again.
Thank you so much for this video, I was dreading the thought of hitting my new office chair with a huge hammer to replace the too-long cylinder. I found a seller of these removal rings who delivers to my location, and they work like advertised. Strange that this method isn't better known.
The tool worked great. The trick with the trashcan also worked great. Gave up on the rubber mallet and used a normal hammer and it popped right now. My chair goes up and down again now. Thank You.
Excellent! I could have used this custom press the last time -- I ended up destroying the chair and buying a new one, then installed the taller cylinder I had already bought. I also discovered the roller blade wheels. They're great, although you might want to buy two sets, since the pressure I have put on them have caused some ball bearing leakage.
I had a ridiculously difficult time tapping the old cylinder out of the base. I was using a hand sledge and it wouldn’t budge. Finally I put some white lithium grease around the bottom and used a heat gun to melt it into the base. After that it came out in just a few taps. But because I had been hammering so hard I mushroomed the bottom of the cylinder which prevented it from slipping out. I had to cut the mushroomed bottom off with a Dremel to finally remove it. I coated the new cylinder with white lithium grease so maybe it will be easier next time.
This replacement worked like a charm, what a great kit! This video was so helpful, I watched it and then knew exactly what I needed to do. Thanks for the video and the excellent product.
Hi Jim, we haven't found a great solution to this yet. All of the design ideas we have come up with would end up costing far too much for our customers. Will keep you updated if we have something in the works. I agree it would save a lot of aggravation for sure.
@@theofficeoasisIs it possible to sell the removal tools as a separate set? Some people might have a working cylinder but need to disassemble the chair for moving or whatever, and using a pipewrench on the cylinder may affect the structural integrity of the cylinder and damage it, worst case could make it explode.
Hi Paige - as of now we only sell the collars with the cylinder. However, so many people have asked if we could sell these separately that we are going to start doing that. But we're probably about 6 months out from doing that. Sorry if that doesn't help you in the meantime!
Just used this and it's amazing I haven't used the gas lift canister that came with the equipment as the manufacturer of my chair sent me a replacement I tried sooo many ways to get the canister off to the point that the surface metal was scratched and grooved to shit and this still worked It cost me about 48£ to get it shipped to the UK
Will be on the lookout for high end chairs in future. Waste not want not. A nice office chair from the shops when I was looking for one they wanted $400 😂 That's the base line for a descent chair. Still have the half working one I found. Pull it apart soon and see if I can get the cylinder for it.
Instructions are perfect. Getting that cylinder out of the base of the chair requires Arnold Schwarzenegger's help! You are correct when you said to remove the wheels. One hit and they are start popping out at you!! LOL Arnold if you are reading.... please come over!!
Can you comment on the safety aspect of the cylinders? There are a few scare videos circulating on these items. I don't wish to amplify this further but it would be helpful to know about this aspect.
Kevin, my man. I just bought the roller blade wheels and they are so mint! Love them. I am looking for a heavy duty cylinders. I'm just over 300lbs and my 2 year old like to sit on my knee and that's going to increase the weight limit over the stock cylinder. The stick cylinder has a 2 inch counter sink (the part that sits below chair base) how far does your model sink under the the base? Ive found that the ones I have been looking at don't have the counter sink and the. Make the chair sit inches higher.
I bought this Office Oasis kit from Amazon today and I found both the tools in the kit and this video to be very useful for removing the old cylinder from my Herman Miller Aeron chair. Everything went smoothly until I got to the easy part and installed the new cylinder and I sat on the chair. The issue is that the new cylinder slowly loses pressure and sinks so that it doesn't maintain the seat height that I set it at. Did I get a faulty cylinder or does this particular cylinder not work with Herman Miller Aeron Chair size B (manufactured in 1998)? Or is there something else that is wrong with my chair such that a new cylinder would lose pressure like this when I sit on it? (Note, I followed instructions and removed the purple cap before inserting the new cylinder into the bottom of the seat.) The package that I received from Amazon was open slightly, so I wonder if the new cylinder was busted or something.
Note, I figured out what the issue was and I was able to fix it. Basically, the plastic trigger (nipple?) for the top of this Office Oasis cylinder sits slightly higher than the metal trigger on the original Herman Miller Aeron Chair cylinder. Hence, if you just pop on the new cylinder without any adjustment (as the guy does in this video) then your trigger mechanism will always be slightly engaged and you will sink slowly when you sit in the chair. If you have a Herman Miller Aeron chair and you are having this sinking issue after you install the new cylinder then you need to pop off the plastic shell right underneath the base of the chair and use a hex wrench (4mm) to loosen the engagement mechanism. It's actually not too hard. I couldn't find a UA-cam video where someone does this, but this guy talks about that adjustment right at the end of this video: ua-cam.com/video/LAVHOz24n60/v-deo.html
Thank you! mine had a little plastic cover that I took tin snips and sniped away and after that it was a piece of cake I would definitely recommend this product five stars
Thank you very much for this video. Though I did not buy your product, I needed to find a way to get the cylinder out of the base. Your note about using more force and maybe using wd40 was the trick. I was so nervous I would break if I hit too hard. But your video helped realize that may be the only way. Thank you.
If you're having problems with the collars slipping on the shaft, use some sandpaper to rough up the shaft as well as the inside of the collars and it grips like kingkong.
Any word on if there’s a lubricant that chairs use to allow the cylinder to move up and down and rotate inside the column? I have a chair where I gave up trying to remove the cylinder after having removed it from the column and base, but when I put the column back onto it, now there’s too much friction when the chair rotates and is so tight it won’t even rise when in the lowest position.
the rollerblade wheels are great!!! its just that they dont really last long in my experiences. i tried from several companies and it never took very long for the little balls to come out of part between the wheel and the "holder". so your wheel will go lean. would be great to have double wheels i think.... would make the risk smaller of the thing going lean
It should definitely help revive your old herman miller chair! We have considered selling the removal tool separately, but just haven't moved forward with that yet. Great idea!
So addendum to the "easy removal tool" if it doesnt work a good metal vice grip and a rubber mallet. If you can get the shaft to turn it will pop out. This will damage the shaft only do this if you are tossing the old one
Unfortunately, the type of chair I had the cylinder so tight that the shaft collars kept getting further apart no matter how much I tightened them. The good news is that the chair was manually tightened to its most upright position, so it still worked without replacing the shaft.
Great video! But there's a step missing: once you've set your cylinder and put the chair on the ground, the cylinder is not fully in yet (I'm talking about the hole in part of the "star" where the casters are). I can see by the end of the clip, you managed to push the cylinder really deep, almost two inches through the casters piece... How did you do that?
I was able to get two of these out with large vice grips and a hammer. It just takes some elbow grease. No need to stop, order a kit, wait days, then fix.
What chair base would you recommend that is heavy duty? I have kids that climb on me sometimes when I'm working and it's broken my last few chairs. Getting the piston from you guys, just want to find a strong base too.
Very informative and easy to understand. Even though my chair is not this brand, the process is nearly identical. As an aside note, that guy is absolutely scrumptious! Too bad he doesn't do house calls.
Great instructional video. I have bought the product and successfully removed the chair and piston but the outer casing of the piston has remained in the base of the chair. For reference the base/legs of the chair have a brass-like finish, the cylinder lies within the brass casing. I cannot replace the new cylinder because the plastic casing of the cylinder remains firmly in place. Any advice? Thank you.
Is this a one size fits all kit? The reason I ask is that I purchased my chair used off of Facebook. There is no name or tag attached. It looks like a good quality chair however it was used and the cylinder broke. Can I purchase this kit from Canada? Much appreciation for your time and assistance.
Hi, is it possible to get just the cylinder removal tool and not the cylinder on your Amazon store ? The cylinder supplied with the kit has a 4.75" lift - I need a cylinder with more lift, close to 6.0" or more of lift. I can get the higher lift cylinders elsewhere, but like the idea of your cylinder removal kit. Looking at the removal tool, why need the first collar at all ? Can't the tool consist of just the second one with the screws and have them push against the base directly ? If you're worried about the screws marring the base, we can just use bits of metal (like flat washers) between the screws and the base.
Sometimes twisting the cylinder a bit left and rigth can help with the first bit. i was sitting there frustrated for 15 minutes thigthening the screw and when i twist it it just slides out....
Freakin' brilliant. :) I got a refurb Steelcase Leap V2 chair which I'm liking a lot, but the poorly photocopied instructions didn't make it clear at all that the side pin needed to be engaged with the height adjustment lever in order to...you know, adjust the height. Every other chair I've had has had just a center pin release. I'm going to send you guys a message to see if this kit will work with this chair and if it does I'll definitely be recommending this to others!
Did they ever get back to you. I spent a better part of a entire evening getting the gas cylinder out of my leap v2. It had sunk into the wheel base and was scraping the floor.
@@AtomicBleach nope! I gave up (not on the poster of this video, I just gave up on fixing the chair). I got lucky at least that the height it's at is usable and it's about a 1/4th inch off the floor. Still like it a lot overall but I will definitely reconsider getting a refurb chair again.
@@jefmes I got mine out by putting the chair on it's back, putting a pipe wrench with a 24" cheater bar, and basically put one foot on one of the lower parts of the arm rest and the other foot on the Pipewrench and eventually got it nocked loose. BTODtv has a decent video on how to remove the gas cylinder (they make it look way easier than it is) and they talk about older models having the side pin and how to engage it toward the end of the video. I had to use like a 3lb brass hammer and a piece of 2x4 on the bottom of the gas cylinder to get it out of the base. I used a holesaw on a old work bench to fit the base into so I wouldn't mess up any of the wheel arms of the base. Luckily I was able to reuse the gas cylinder by wrapping a few layers of electrical tape around the cylinder to raise the chair back up. I just bought a refurb steelcase Amia for my wife for $60 and I half to say ... It's more comfortable than my leap v2. Bottom seat cushion has more padding and the rest of the chair feels nearly identical to my leap. I plan on going back and buying another Amia for my work office.
For some reason my black bar part is keeping the chair wheels from sitting, i think getting it from rent to own they assembled it wrong, since i paid it off i cannot get help from them sadly, because that base is stuck to the wheels base.

Great instructions and product. Worth it for the removal tool alone. Nice touch adding the work gloves, too. 👍🏻
Finally got around to fixing the chair. So glad the video is still up. The removal tool worked excellently. 👍
Very easy instructions i have bought replacement cylinders from this company befofe and your video is is very helpful
Thank you so much for this video, I was dreading the thought of hitting my new office chair with a huge hammer to replace the too-long cylinder. I found a seller of these removal rings who delivers to my location, and they work like advertised. Strange that this method isn't better known.
You are so welcome!
Just finished replacing my chair with the new cylinder. Took about 20 minutes. Real easy. Highly recommend the removal tools.
Awesome tutorial, man. I replaced my cylinder with your video and worked like a charm. Thank You!
Really appreciate the kind words! Happy it helped!
Any place to get the collars without the cylinder? I already got a replacement from the factory
The tool worked great. The trick with the trashcan also worked great. Gave up on the rubber mallet and used a normal hammer and it popped right now. My chair goes up and down again now. Thank You.
Thank you for saying this! I was having a hard time with my rubber mallet as well so I decided to go for the hammer and it popped out immediately lol
I had to apply pretty brute force to actually get the cylinder out of the chair, but this video helped me massively. Many thanks.
Just used one of these kits from Office Oasis. Very simple and easy to do, and works great.
Good clear instructions. The imprinted gloves are a nice touch.
Excellent product, excellent video! I am kicking myself for waiting so long to try to replace the cylinder. It was easy as pie. Thank you!
Thanks for making this, instructions were easy to follow and helped me change out my cylinder easily.
For sure! Happy to help! Glad you got it changed out!
Very clear step by step directions to replacing an office chair cylinder--excellent.
That gas cyclinder fought tooth n nail to stay, but alas I succeeded. Thanks for the video saves me buying a new chair. 🙏🏾💪🏾🔥
bought the cylinder just for the tool, and it worked, thank you so much!
Awesome, I just got one of these and was a little confused with the instructions, so this is much more helpful. Thanks! :)
This replacement worked like a charm, what a great kit! This video was so helpful, I watched it and then knew exactly what I needed to do. Thanks for the video and the excellent product.
Thanks for the kind words! You are so welcome!
Just finished fixing mine. Works now. I have a Hymen Flex-Fit mesh chair. It was exactly like the video said. Thanks 👍🏻
You guys should make a second set of shaft collars for separating the cylinder from the base so that you don't have to go at it with a hammer.
Yes, that is a great idea! I totally agree, might have to start drawing up the design now.
@@theofficeoasis Any progress on this? It could save a lot of aggravation.
Hey @greenhat7618 we are actually launching this product very soon. Should be available by the end of the year! Thanks for the recommendation!
Is there a kit that sells just the collars? I already purchased a replacement cylinder and am having issues getting the old one out of the chair.
Hi Paige - as of now we only sell the collars with the cylinder. However, so many people have asked if we could sell these separately that we are going to start doing that. But we're probably about 6 months out from doing that. Sorry if that doesn't help you in the meantime!
Just used this and it's amazing
I haven't used the gas lift canister that came with the equipment as the manufacturer of my chair sent me a replacement
I tried sooo many ways to get the canister off to the point that the surface metal was scratched and grooved to shit and this still worked
It cost me about 48£ to get it shipped to the UK
Excellent product. Couldn't believe how easy it was to fix my saggy chair. I highly recommend it. Thanks.
Will be on the lookout for high end chairs in future.
Waste not want not.
A nice office chair from the shops when I was looking for one they wanted $400 😂
That's the base line for a descent chair.
Happy customer here. Highly recommended !
@@thomwoodard4358 I hope I don't run into that problem...I'm replacing the cylinder on my Herman Miller as we speak. I'll save your comment and link!
I still bought a pipe wrench to do this. Now I have the cylinder removed and I have a pipe wrench in my home.
Good video. Very helpful.
Unclear why you needed to remove the wheels, though.
Thank you! mine had a little plastic cover that I took tin snips and sniped away and after that it was a piece of cake I would definitely recommend this product five stars
Love this product, it made the job so easy......thank you
You're welcome! Happy we made your life a little bit easier!
Thank you very much for this video. Though I did not buy your product, I needed to find a way to get the cylinder out of the base. Your note about using more force and maybe using wd40 was the trick. I was so nervous I would break if I hit too hard. But your video helped realize that may be the only way. Thank you.
Also, if I ever need to get the cylinder out of the top your product looks simple to use.
Wonderful gizmo! Well done!
If you're having problems with the collars slipping on the shaft, use some sandpaper to rough up the shaft as well as the inside of the collars and it grips like kingkong.
This is a fantastic tip! We will start recommending this to our customers that have the collar slipping issue.
DOZYANT vs office owl Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder? Which one is the best?
This tool was a life safer. Thanks Oasis!
I’ve bought this kit of Amazon purely for the removal tool, you should sell it separately. I have an old Herman Miller chair I hope it will work on.
It should definitely help revive your old herman miller chair! We have considered selling the removal tool separately, but just haven't moved forward with that yet. Great idea!
Can you please sell the removal device?
Just wanted to update you. You can find the removal tool on our Amazon listing: links.theofficeoasis.com/amazon/removaltoolYT1
So addendum to the "easy removal tool" if it doesnt work a good metal vice grip and a rubber mallet. If you can get the shaft to turn it will pop out. This will damage the shaft only do this if you are tossing the old one
great video - a pleasure to watch
Unfortunately, the type of chair I had the cylinder so tight that the shaft collars kept getting further apart no matter how much I tightened them. The good news is that the chair was manually tightened to its most upright position, so it still worked without replacing the shaft.
I used some sandpaper to rough up the chrome shaft and it worked like a charm.
Any advice? Thank you.
Will this work on a Serta Hensley? I swear they welded mine!
I need to replace the star, keeping the original cylinder. The 'hammer' process to extract, may damage the cylinder?
Great video. A rubber mallet would work great as well.
Is this a one size fits all kit? The reason I ask is that I purchased my chair used off of Facebook. There is no name or tag attached. It looks like a good quality chair however it was used and the cylinder broke. Can I purchase this kit from Canada? Much appreciation for your time and assistance.
Yo why are all the guys in computer chair repair videos jacked?
What does jacked mean?
@@tammcguire1uhh bro this isn’t new term ripped, big strong guy, muscular, jacked all the same thing
Thank you that was driving me mad. I had a short base so I had to use only one clamp and push against the frame. Came right off
Hi, is it possible to get just the cylinder removal tool and not the cylinder on your Amazon store ?
The cylinder supplied with the kit has a 4.75" lift - I need a cylinder with more lift, close to 6.0" or more of lift.
I can get the higher lift cylinders elsewhere, but like the idea of your cylinder removal kit.
Looking at the removal tool, why need the first collar at all ? Can't the tool consist of just the second one with the screws and have them push against the base directly ? If you're worried about the screws marring the base, we can just use bits of metal (like flat washers) between the screws and the base.
Hey absolutely! Just search office oasis cylinder removal tool on Amazon and you'll find us :)
The removal tool didn't work at all.
Sometimes twisting the cylinder a bit left and rigth can help with the first bit. i was sitting there frustrated for 15 minutes thigthening the screw and when i twist it it just slides out....
Nicely presented ❤
Thanks a lot 😊
Are these kits sold in different lengths and sizes? Can I measure my cylinder or do most kits fit most chairs?
I learned a lot from your video, but remain stymied by my steelcase model 458, which is quite inscrutable..Wish I could still consult Office Oasis.
Just reach out to us at support@theofficeoasis.com! We'd be happy to help!
The double stage 2nd gen vs this one from Oasis for aeron chair? which one is better?
Following your method damaged my $800 ergohuman chair. Thanks.
I already have the cylinder replacement part from staples since it was still under warranty - is there a way to buy just the replacement tool?
Hello - as of now we only sell the replacement tool with the cylinder. However, so many people have asked if we could sell these separately that we are going to start doing that. But we're probably about 6 months out from doing that. Sorry if that doesn't help you in the meantime!
mine dropped and stopped lifting at all, then the chair bit on top came off the cylinder entirely the next day. can i still just replace the cylinder using this method, or has my connection point been messed up?
You should still be able to replace the cylinder! Good luck. Feel free to reach out via email if you have specific questions!
