  • Removing the Leaf Spring Bushings for a 2006 Hummer H3 Lux/Adventure.
    Here's my way of DIY based on archaic methods I learned back in the 1980's but if you’re not bringing your GM vehicle to the shop, and you’ve got these tools then try this method. I’ve also listed the Parts Numbers at the end of the video and GM Part #’s and Prices for Parts below…
    There are Three (3) distinct Bushing sizes and you’ll need a total of Six (6) of them. I’m also adding the mandatory replacement of the U-Bolts and a set of new Shackles if needed.
    GM Part #88912905 Leaf Spring Shackle Bushing @ $10.90 each x 2.
    GM Part #15529515 Leaf Spring Bushing @ $10.18 each x 2.
    GM Part #15963452 Leaf Spring Bushing @ $13.34 each x 2.
    GM Part #15166223 Leaf Spring Shackles @ $13.78 each x 2.
    U-Bolts Part #11610227 @ $6.03 for both.

    That was a very interesting video to say the least. Wouldn't of thought it would be so involved to get those off. Glad I came across this video. Wasn't looking to replace mine but having second thoughts. Thank you Sir👍

      Hello Cap, Yes, it is not a fun job at all unless you use a Press instead of the Drill, Cut & Burn method I display here. Once all repaired this H3 feels smooth like butter now on the off-road trails.

    Good to see you use a punch to drift out the bolts unlike some dudes use a screwdriver .

    I own H3, but I'm not a technician and if anything needed, I anyway can't replace their work and I don't understand, why I'm interested in watching the videos like this, but only about H3, can anyone explain this to me?:D

      Hello Ika, It’s ok if you don’t do the work yourself but just be sure to find a good mechanic/technician to help you out. This video was a fun one to make but the repairs were very laborious but I’m willing to do it again on another H3 or GM when time allows. Thanks for watching the video and for the comments.

    I truly hope this video has helped someone out. Good News is that I now have a Press so I don't have to Cut & Burn out the Bushings.

      Wished this was available 1 year ago when I attempted mine and gave up. Made it look easy. Good job. I'll do this now when it warms up. Thanks

      @@mnyhomie Thanks so much. It was way more fun putting this video together than cutting those bushings. Lucky I had a few days to pull it all apart clean it up real nice and add the new parts. My H3 has performed like a Champ since then.

    The rear bushing mounted to the frame. How is that replaced?

    • @NorthwestAdventurerNWA
      @NorthwestAdventurerNWA  Рік тому +1

      Pretty much same as the other bushings with the exception of not cutting the frame mounted piece. You can cut or press out the bushing just as easy as the others.

    Hello there , the Leaf Spring on the other side near the Gas Tank is so Difficult to Remove
    because the Bolts touch the Gas Tank ! Any ideas how you would remove the Leaf Spring
    on the Gas Tank side ?

    • @NorthwestAdventurerNWA
      @NorthwestAdventurerNWA  3 роки тому

      Hi Lennox, To remove the hidden bolt on the forward Leaf Spring (gas tank side) you must remove/drop the Gas Tank Casing. I believe there are only 4 nuts on the case and you’ll need a 13mm Socket to remove them.
